What a great birthday present for me! I never thought that he would fall to us. I expected him to be gone before pick 20. Great player, great steal! We got out DT, now we need CB, OG, ILB, WR, RB

No Corner is going to be NFL-ready .... so I'd take a Guard over a CB in the 2nd round

Well almost no CB is NFL ready. It shouldn't stop you from taking him if you like them though. IF we go by that logic CB would almsot never be picked high and enough they are a high value position. I don't any of the guys drafted in the first will be good week 1 or even week 6.

I am okay with a guard but i really like the value of CBs on day 2.

The fact that BB cancelled his already agreed to trade to swoop in and grab a player he obviously didn't expect to be there makes me very optimistic about the pick.

And we didn't even have to trade up to get him. I can easily see Brown being our pick if we picked at 22 rather than 32.

MUCH better than what we could have anticipated. Everything combined to come together perfectly. All the best CB's were long gone. The Gurly temptation was gone. I would be interested in seeing who BB would have taken if both Brown and Tomlinson where both on the board at the same time. I'm guessing it would have been Brown just because OG's are easier to find than quality DTs, but still....

Myself I was leaning toward Phillips and Goldman because both are in the 6'4/6'5 range and I love me some tall interior DLmen, but from everything I've read about Brown is that he is more athletic and explosive than both of those guys, along with being more mature, smarter and having a better motor.

I think we have a guy who can come right in and play 30-50% of the DL snaps and keep everyone fresh I am vary happy with our first pick. You know the last time we had a DLman fall to us like this it was when we drafted Vince.

I have no doubt we will get our OG, CB''s and RB's the next few days. I'm just hoping when their names are called, I know who some of them are. :D

Despite his maturity - and his wife and kids - Malcom Brown is 20 years old. LOVE it.

I like this pick. Yea boiiiiiiii

La'el Collins?

Sure, but there will be players at the end of the 2nd or even 3rd round who can start. Collins may be one of them. Connolly is always a phone call away, too. It's not ideal, but the Patriots just won a Super Bowl with Connolly and Wendell as the starting guards.

Praying Clemmings is a Patriot tomorrow, though. He's my guy, even before Brown.

You aren't really counting on "perennial pro bowl players" at #32. If you can get a solid starter, you are doing good!

What I love about Brown is seeing how much better he got when Charlie Strong and his staff came to Texas. I can't wait to see what Belichick and Patricia can do.

I really didn't think Brown would be there. The rankings below are from Mayock. I don't think that we could reasonably ask for more. At 32, Belichick got a top 20 player at a position of need.

20 Brown
26 Clemmings
27 Phillips
28 Gregory
35 Fisher
38 Rollins
40 Goldman
47 Cann
61 Rowe

Merry Christmas, Matt Patricia! Mayo restructured, Chandler Jones and Hightower extended, Malcolm Brown added, and more to come. The front seven is young and very talented. If Easley can play up to his potential, the Patriots should again be a great run stopping team.

No way in hell he TJ Clemmings falls to 64; Collins probably will fall further than that.

Don't doubt what you're saying or anything, but where did you hear that they canceled a trade to grab him? That would make me feel even better about the pick!
