The Draft Prediction Game

Make between 5 and 10 specific projections that will happen in the draft. Only four rules:

1. Predictions MUST be made by the time the draft starts.

2. You are predicting a prospect to a team but you are not limited to the first round. You can make other predictions if you like but they MUST be specific and measurable. I shall be the arbiter of whether such a trade is permissible.*

3. Any predictions must have a resolution by the last pick of the draft.

4. Jameis Winston to the Bucs does not count.


* This is just to prevent fairly obvious predictions being made. It's easy to predict that the New Orleans Saints will make a first round pick. Something that obvious wouldn't be permitted. However, if you said "The Saints will trade out of the first round with the 31st pick in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings", that of course would be allowed.

The winner will be announced on Sunday hopefully.

So my predictions:

1. Nelson Agholor to the Texans in the first round.

2. The Cleveland Browns will trade up with the Titans and take Mariota.

3. Shane Ray will be taken in the first round, Randy Gregory will not. Both have to happen for the prediction to be right.

4. A team will trade up into the Redskins spot at #5 and take Kevin White or Bud Dupree.

5. There will be six WR taken in the first round.

6. Vic Beasley will be drafted by the New Orleans Saints.

7. Miami Dolphins will draft Todd Gurley.

8. The Seattle Seahawks trade up from 63 for DGB or Devin Smith.

9. The Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots will make a trade with each other that will impact at least one of either teams top 64 picks.

10. The Raiders will draft Leonard Williams

That's the level of specificity I'm hoping for.

Some Patriots based predictions.

1. The Patriots will double dip at OL. before the 5th round(so round 2 ol taken in round 1 through 4).

2. With our current receivers all nearing 30 the Patriots will see the perfect time to grab a receiver who can learn from them, and will do so on the first round.

1. Melvin Gordon gets drafted in the first by the Chargers.

2. The Pats will move either their 96th or 101st pick to either move up in the draft or trade for a player In a current roster.

3. The Giants will draft either Andrus Peat or Brandon Schreff

4. Dante Fowler to the Jags.

5. The Broncos will draft Ameer Abdullah in either the second or third rounds

6. Pats will take an O linemen from either Florida or Florida State.

1. Todd Gurley will be taken in the top 10

2. Breshad Perriman will be a Bronco (and a bust)

3. Kevin White will drop to the Chiefs

4. Randy Gregory, La'el Collins & possibly Shane Ray will be there at 32

5. Buffalo will give bend over and give up their 2016 1st and at least two of their 4(?) 2015 picks to get in at 31 to draft a DL that they don't need.

You should give bonus points for long shot predictions. Predicting Marcus Mariota at #2 is much less impressive than picking Dorial Green-Beckham to the Packers.

Prediction #1 - Eight WRs will be selected in the First Round
In no particular order: Cooper, White, Parker, Dorsett, Agholor, Perriman, Strong, Green-Beckham

Prediction #2 - Somehow Mariota ends up in Philadelphia
Not sure how, but something mythic. Suppose Browns send #12 to Eagles for Sam Bradford. Then, Philly sends #12, #20 and 2016 1st round pick to the Titans for him.

Prediction #3 - Shane Ray and Randy Gregory drop out of the first round
Bottom line, there are too many other good players in the 25-45 range to roll the dice. GMs will not see the upside in taking the risk with Dion Jordan and Aaron Hernandez so fresh in their minds.

Prediction #4 - Pats trade #32
Up for Malcom Brown, or down for AJ Cann. I can't decide.

Prediction #5 - The Audience Boos the Commissioner
Is this too obvious? It is Chicago; midwesterners never boo anyone.

1. Shane Ray and Randy Gregory will all fall out of the first round. La'el Collins goes undrafted

2. Andrus Peat will be the first offensive lineman drafted (ahead of Brandon Scherff)

3. Sam Bradford is traded to Cleveland

4. Philadelphia acquires QB Marcus Mariota (note I said acquires and not drafts because they may make the trade after Tennessee makes the pick)

5. Cedrick Ogbuehi will be the 2nd OT drafted (Scherff is an OG)

6. Damarious Randall will be the first Safety drafted (ahead of Landon Collins)

7. Washington will trade down from #5 to either Atlanta (Dante Fowler Jr) or NYG (Leonard Williams)

8. Alabama RB TJ Yeldon is the 3rd RB drafted, inside the top 40 picks

9. There are at least 8 trades in the first round of the draft

10. QB Bryce Petty from Baylor will go in the first round, either #31 to New Orleans or #32 to a team trading up with the Patriots

Bonus: Amari Cooper goes #3 to the Jags
Bonus 2: Mario Edwards Jr goes in the first round

1: Patriots will draft less then 7 players....
2: Titans ends up with 3 picks in 1 round....
3: Broncos, Saints both draft a QB on day 2....
4: There will be more DBs taken in round 1 then WRs....
5: But alot more Offensiv players then Defensiv in round 1....
6: Patriots wont draft a blinky of Manx....
7: Atleast 4 players with "red flags" getting picked in round 1....

You're the early favourite because you've got one definitely right.

1. La'ell Collins goes completely undrafted.
2. Ameer Abdullah will be a Patriot
3. The Bucs will trade the #1 pick to the Eagles, who will then take Mariotta.
4. Jami$$ will end up with the Jets (delicious)
5. The Pats will make 4 third round picks.

1. Pats trade up in both the 1st and 2nd rounds
2. One of Jarret, Xavier Cooper, Gabe Wright or David Parry is a Patriot by the end of the draft
3. Pats will pick at least one player with a CBS ranking greater than 300

1. Bears fans will copy NY fans and boo picks from the Packers, Vikings and Lions.
2. All of our corner binkies are gone by #32.
3. Patriots trade out of the first.
4. No Rutgers picks for the Patriots.
5. When Goodell goes in for the hug Danny Shelton gives him a Jimmy Superfly Snooka headbutt busting him open and knocking him out.

I at least got one right (3 players so far ranked higher than 300) but admittedly, this was a layup
