Revis: "I think I'm better than I was before"

It is difficult being a Pats fan during free agency/draft... gets a lot better in Dec., Jan. and sometimes February...

Todd Bowles has an outstanding coaching record... 2 wins and 1 loss... that will add to the legacy.

I keep going back to smith of Baltimore abusing revis in that playoff game against us.

Everyone has their bad games. For the most part, Revis earned his money here. But, then again, you're probably thinking about that as more of a coping mechanism. That said, I'm thankful he was here. I wish the Patriots could have found a way to keep him but he's gone now and, now that he's a Jet, I wish him the worst of luck.

He seems to be going out of his way to kind of rub this whole thing in the Pats face.

Yup.. he's always been a Jet and I called that like week 1 of the season last year for what he was.. a mercenary looking to use the Pats to win a SB and increase his marketability.

And people wanted them to let mccourty go for this Jet piece of garbage.. its really unbelievable.

BB's entire philosophy is that he doesn't collect talent, he builds a team... I couldn't understand why so many people were against keeping McCourty and instead wanted this mercenary POS. McCourty is the epitome of what it means to be a Patriot.. Mevis is the epitome of a businessman who bleeds Jet green.

The choice was an obvious one and I'm glad that the front office felt the same way.

In reviewing the hilights on youtube of the ravens playoff game, Revis looks pathetic on the Ravens first td he looks like Deion Sanders out there, didn't even attempt to try to keep the guy out of the endzone. Then he's covering Steve Smith while he scores a td, 14-0. Then the PI call at the end of the half that set up a td, 21-14. Makes me feel a little better about losing him.

He had a great year last year but you're right, he did not perform well in e playoffs.. he was pretty average actually in the playoffs.

you can't blame him too much, he's usually at his Miami Beach house in Janaury, not on a football field

He actually gives credit to Belichick for making him better. I'm not sure how it's rubbing anything in anybody's face when the guy who had already been considered the best Corner in the game says that he's now even better for having played for a Coach and a team.

In general (he's talked a little trash, but not out of line), Revis has handled this as well as could be expected.

Revis has always said that he had wanted to return to the Jets, but idiot Izdik failed to sign him last season because he wasn't professional enough to get past some hurt feelings. He's also always said that he feels "at home" with the team that drafted him, but he's also completely upfront about the fact that it's also about the money. They paid him. He went home. End of story.

The more I think about this, Revis is clearly more interested in being an A-list pro athlete in New York City than he is in winning football games or adding to his NFL credentials. He'll never be Tom Brady in New England, but he can be like Derek Jeter in NYC, especially with the lack of a true 1st ballot hall of famer in the NBA, NFL or MLB in the city right now. Revis might get in on the first ballot as the best of his era.

Like Jeter, he's a superstar who is modest and careful not to put himself in potentially embarrassing situations. He's a champion in his sport, is or was the best at his position, and if he can stay healthy, he'll have a long career and be in demand for all the glitzy celebrity events.

I say good luck to him. He meant a lot to the 4th Super Bowl team, and I hope he is a lockdown corner against everybody but the Patriots, who know better than any team how he can be exploited in coverage.

Revis may be way more richer now, but he's way more closer to 4-12 than he is to another Super Bowl run.

"Belichick made him better than he was before... better... stronger... faster..."

And then he became the 6 million dollar man. Times 12.

;)
Na, na, na, na..., da, da, da, da.........

I mean him no disrespect. He had a great year for us and He was exactly what we needed last year.

But at the end of the day he is not perfect and in a copycat league teams with receivers like smith have a blueprint to beating revis.

I hope we tear him a new one this year.

Oh they will. Gronk will abuse him. Whole different level between practice Gronk and game Gronk. Just ask Talib or anyone that Seattle tried to put on him.

I saw it too. Who couldn't? Anyone have any ideas why he sucked so bad during that stretch with that assignment?

He's not getting better during the at 30+ years old, I hate to break it to him.

My only remorse in all this is that the Pats didn't sandbag the Jets and come back with some ridiculous counter offer, and force the Jets to jack up their final offer to the point where it would strangle the team under the cap for years to come. Yes, NE too classy to treat a vet like that, but if Revis was using NE purely as salary leverage, NE could have done a bit of the the same to the franchise's future benefit and NYJ's detriment.

I call a little BS on his overt love for the Jets. How much did he love the Jets when he held out? I'm sure he knows everyone calls him a money grabbing mercenary, and when he went from a team like the Pats who just won the SB to the Jets for more money he had to overplay the I love the Jets talk. Would he have loved them so much if the $ wasn't right? I don't think so. It's kind of like a women who gives up a hard working, handsome man for a decrepit old man, who's rich, and she over compensates with all of the love talk to sell the fact that she's not there for the money. The only thing there would be for him to love is NYC, which is understandable, but besides that the Jets are completely different from when was drafted.

You mean Edelman? Works for me.

Sure, I'll grant that he's "spinning" (one man's "spin" is another's "BS"). He's trying to tip the balance of public perception away from the money theme more in the direction of the "going home" theme. As with all spin, there's a little bit of truth in it. I was mainly reacting to those who are dumping all over him.

In the end, as I said in my post, "...he's also completely upfront about the fact that it's also about the money. They paid him. He went home. End of story." In other words, yes, he "went home," but he wouldn't have gone home without the "money."
