Goodell: ‘Understanding’ is Wells has 'finished interview portion'’ of Deflategate report

I toatlly agree with you Ivan and wonder why we don't hear of any supportfor Bob Kraft from the other 31 owners. Afterall, he is one of the 32 people that own the NFL and why can't he tell Goodell where to stick his opinions/fines and other BS that comes out of his piehole?

I don't know what the NFL owners bylaws are but if I'm BK I'd be looking for some change. No way in hell would I let that little c********* smear and slander my business the way he has been.

Can we Patsfans create a class-action law suit against that nit-wit?

We can't do anything other than raise as big a stink to the Patriots front office as possible

Why do you gotta stress me out like that!

Hate to do it. But it's Goodell being Goodell. I'm reticent to read too much into it either way. It's a wishy-washy statement, and it may no longer mean anything. Maybe that's why they brought Wells in, but things might've changed.

I heard pat kirwin say that he thought the "verdict" would come down before the draft and that there would be no penalty, that the league can't prove anything. He went on to say that there should have never been a deflate gate cause the league never had any evidence in the first place. thats all fine and dandy, but i want some heads to roll over what happened, preferably gregson, kinsel, and irsays.

So, it'll be like waiting for the next George R.R. Martin novel in the GoT series then?

To borrow an analogy from the series, the Patriots are the Targaryens and the league office/other teams are the other great houses forming alliances to bring down the dynasty. Only here, it is via bogus cheating allegations and rule changes etc, instead of martial warfare of course.

It is my understanding that the commish is an ***hat.

Then I hope Kraft has a plan in place to "burn them all"

The tampering "fine" + this RG interview........ makes me much more nervous than at any point this Spring. I have no faith in the league's view on things, nor do I have any reason to believe Wells is any more trustworthy.

He's not the only one, though. You can tell by the language that everyone uses that the issue at the very heart of the matter, that football pressure drops with temperature, is understood by very very few people in the media, and certainly not by Mr. Goodell.

Everyone is STILL confusing "inflation" with "pressure"

There were NO under-inflated footballs, or even deflated footballs.
repeat
There were NO under-inflated footballs, or even deflated footballs.

There were footballs that were AT A LOWER PRESSURE that the person who was analyzing them expected to see.

Why? Simply because that person (Kensil, presumably) did not know that air pressure drops as temperature drops.

A football at 72 degrees and 12.5 psi will go down to about 11.3 psi at 48 degrees, just due to temperature/pressure effects, WITH NO DEFLATION (air being taken out) WHATSOEVER.

Every media and (sadly) NFL person I have seen talk so far seems not to be able to fully grasp this distinction, which is NOT trivial.

Phase one of the plan transpired February 2nd, where Kraft's three "dragons" (Belichick, Brady, and Gronk) played crucial roles in bringing "fire and blood" to the Super Bowl. ;)

Goodell: Well, I think it's hard because you wanna make sure you have all the information. It's not just...

Rose: It's one game, one ball.

Goodell: The question is, one of the things that he would be asked to look for is, was it just one game?

Rose: Is there any suspicion that it wasn't one game?

Goodell: There's no suspicion of anything. What we're trying to do is just make sure we're thorough. The most important thing here is, was there a violation of the rules? And if so, how did that occur?

This just IN:

BB suspended for one year based on Ted Wells testing the game ball from SB XXV from the cabinet in the hall at canton.

In his press release mr Go-to-hell stated 'the fact that this game ball had a psi of 5 proves that BB has been playing fast and loose for over 24 years with air pressure, and we need to send a signal to all the teams that these rules MUST be obeyed at all costs -our rules trump those so-called "laws of nature". After all, those laws are all just theories, and I have plenty of counterbalancing conspiracy theories I can give you.'

I thought I figured I would listen to Felger and Mazz for some laughs on their spin and they didn't disappoint. Here are a few highlights:
  • They are convinced that the fact that there was no real punishment for the Jets is a back door deal for Goodell not to punish the Pats in Deflategate. "Bob, we not going to give you any compensation for tampering with Revis, but don't worry I got your back on Deflategate".
  • Felger is convinced the League has tons of circumstantial evidence that proves the Pats tampered with the balls, but is convinced the League won't do anything to punish them even though he can under his power. In other words, after months of him saying there is no doubt that the Pats tampered with the balls, he can claim he is right when the Wells report says they found no evidence of them tampering with the balls.
  • Felger is convinced the League knows the Pats have been tampering with the balls for years and have waited for this moment to get them.
  • Felger feels that since Goodell appeared on CBS this morning that it is proof that Goodell has Kraft's back because Kraft set up the interview with CBS through his partnership with CBS.

Wow, none of that makes a lick of sense.

Of course, even if Felger knows this is BS and is just saying it to move the show along, there are plenty of listeners who will think it's all true.

Wow. I wonder if Felger realizes how stupid he is and its a shtick or if he really is that stupid.

Felger/Mazz is doing 11.3, compared to WEEI's 7.0. It's all shtick, and it's probably not going to change anytime soon, because Boston radio fans are fools enough to keep listening to it when the vastly superior Dale & Holley show is available.

It will be released as the Patriots are sending their first round pick to the podium. Goodell will be standing there with a smile and simply rip the card up and walk off...

Speaking of podiums: Super Bowl XLIX witnessed the Quickest exit (Exit Stage Left) off the post-game Lombardi Trophy presentation podium, by an NFL Commissioner, in Super Bowl history. After the obligatory kudos, heads-out within a second. Eye contact minimized.

I think that's wishful thinking.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter too much what Goodell thinks until he's seen what Wells report says. Goodell is an idiot. But I do find it a little disconcerting.

Hell yes, I find his comment troubling. Let's just hope that this wasn't Goodell throwing in a very obvious hint that the attention is still very much focused on the Patriots, which is exactly what it sounds like he's doing.

The fact is the weather does affect the balls so the league is gonna have to acknowledge that in the wells report and change the rules. Because if they don't then next year a lot of teams could be accused of deflating the balls

They're just giving themselves an out ahead of time for when the Pats are finally exonerated. They don't want to just admit they were wrong.
