I believe we will find a cure for cancer and send a man to Mars, before Ted Wells completes his investigation

With the way some of these NBA playoff games have been going, I expect that Chamberlain record to go down pretty shortly! Lol

we will find other intelligent life in the universe before Wells releases his report.

Well, I think that the Wells report will be out before the Jets win a Superbowl ... but in our lifetimes? That's tough to call.

I'll believe the Wells report will come out when me poop turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet.

When a pitcher breaks Cy Youngs career wins? That's never going to happen now that they outed Rocket for juicing.....but someone will do it before the Wells report exonerates the hometown hero's

I know this thread was made as a vehicle for the Ted Wells joke, but on a serious note I chose Jerry Rice. Of those options, that's the only one where the style of the game is trending towards it being broken. It's a passing game so if the right talent came along he'll have every opportunity to rack up numbers.

In MLB, with pitch counts and going every five days without exception, pitchers only make about 30 starts per season. They'd have to win EVERY one for SEVENTEEN YEARS and they'd still fall one short.

Basketball is a possibility, but when Chamberlain and Russell and them were playing, I think they were simply overpowering for most other teams. Nowadays though there is a significant talent gap between the real superstars and the dregs, if a player was going off and approaching, say, 70 or 80 points, teams have the talent to at least double team them and force the ball elsewhere.

And hockey, good lord... Wayne Gretzky had 100 assists in a season eleven times. Only two other players have ever had that many in one season (Lemieux and Orr) and they each did it ONCE. Nowadays, with the defensive systems, size of goalie pads, and size of players, the leading scorer in the league didn't even crack 90 POINTS this year. That record isn't going anywhere.

Rice's record, easily.

Pitchers don't pitch nearly as often as they did when Cy Young was going at it. #99 was the most dominate athlete of all time. Nobody will touch him. It would take someone double the talent of Crosby to do it. The NBA has too many big players and strategy to allow another 100 point game to one player, even if the opposition is college level bad.

Lol didn't they determine he had to have banged like one and 2/3rd women a day or something? Normally I'd call bs but Wilt had some pretty absurd records so idk anything is possible.
