I was listening to WFAN (660 AM--great radio if you get sick of the endless baseball talk on WEEI), and they said there is a rumor that the Jet are going to trade up for Winston. I think that Winston is worth a first and second this year and a first next year, ha, at least. How great would that be?

BTW, I they were going to talk to Dan Frigging Shaughnessy; I guess he is regular...the traitor. What does he say on WFAN? How evil the Red Sox are?

Don't think the Bucs will give him away for less than 3 first rounders. They need a QB as well, so no reason not to shoot for the moon.

Hope the Rats keep some high picks to be swapped to the Pats for tampering with Revis.

If the Jets do something like this, it will be RGIII redux.

Does this mean they are not trading for rivers?

In looking at the Mariota and Winston, I think it makes a lot of sense to swap first round picks with the Jets and gather some other picks. I know that if I was the Buc's GM I would do this in a heartbeat, even if I only the Jet's first in 2016. Even better if I get their 2 this year also. Grayson may be just as good and trading back allows you to fill in some other areas of need.

Both Mariota and Winston scare the heck out of me and when you pick first you should have no doubts.

in the last 10 years how many no doubt qb's have there been? Hell the Texans didn't take a QB because they wanted to take a no doubt player in Clowney and look where it got them, still fringey and with no QB. If you are a franchise like the Bucs you need to take a risk and try for a QB, taking someone like Williams is a safer pick but you aren't going to make the playoffs anytime soon because of him and a QB can do that for you. Trading down in this kind of a situation would be stupid unless they are blown away by an offer.

It would be nice if Winston would go to the jets so I can see that us destroy that piece of garbage twice a year. All my negative energy could be even more focused on the Jets

Nah, RG3 was at least decent for most of his first season. If Winston goes to the Jets it gonna be a s**t show from the first game. He'll get careless and throw a couple picks, the NY press will go bonkers - especially because they would be giving up so much for him, the press will get in Winston's head and he'll act out. Or he'll get into trouble or do something stupid in public this summer and it'll be a s**t show before he even takes a live snap.

It could be enough to start off the new coach on a really bad foot. :D

If I am Tampa, I deal the number one to the Jets, even if the terms are moderate. I would trade Jets the number one in exchange for their number 6 plus their first from next year. Then at 6 I would take Tre Waynes or even Garrett Grayson, who will be better than either Mariotta or Winston....

Amen brother! I heard on the nfl network that tampa is now open to trading the pick. Very smart of licht if he does unload it.

Tampa would be foolish to trade that #1 spot, and I sure as hell don't want Winston going to the Jets.

Do you still feel this way after what Mayock says here: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...overlooking-jameis-winston-character-concerns

According to Mayock, you cannot trust him off the field and even on the field. Ugh what a lemon; perfect for the Jets.

That's the same Mayock who said

"The kind of projection I want to make with Manziel is Steve Young,'' Mayock says, referencing the Hall of Fame San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

and who had Mark Sanchez ahead of Matthew Stafford.

So, yeah, I still feel that way.

Ha, that is very funny about Johnny Football...OK we will take his evaluation with a grain of salt but Winston did throw 18 picks last season....so personally I will be rooting for the Jets to trade up to get him. BB would fleece Winston...

Winston threw a lot of picks last year. He also lost 1 game in 2 seasons.

25 TDs last season, along with a 145.5 QB rating, despite those 18 picks. Also, FSU points scored in the games where Winston had multiple picks:

40
38
48
35
24

FSU had a lot of talent and their strength of schedule was pretty weak. I think Winston is going to bust and bust hard. Once FSU ran into a team with some actual talent, they got wiped off the map last year. Winston is too stupid to be a successful NFL quarterback (and I'm not high on Mariota either). Make him have to come off his first read and he panics. He'll either take off or start serving up INT's like they're $5 footlongs.

Winston, the guy who's football I.Q. is raved about by pretty much everyone except you, is too stupid?

Interesting theory.
