Moving the draft

Will it make any difference now that the draft is leaving New York? I don't suppose that it can hurt. The place won't be packed with Jets fans.

No matter where it's being held though, it would be very excellent if someone could get Goody the Jet to cease with the idiotic hug.

A loud chorus of boos that chases him off the stage would be even better.

And now the big questions. Who will announce the Pats picks and will they pull a Willie and embrace the hate?

I laugh at the embrace the hate, that was awesome

I would not be surprised to see the nfl move the draft back to after the networks sweeps are done and move it to the networks. They can have a host and celebrities announce the picks and a red carpet. Would be huge.

They could go over the top with this and make a fortune.

You can get more fresh produce in the Illinois area. There's nothing like home grown overripe tomatoes to convey your view of the commissioners handling of the various crises in the past year.

I agree. Goodells "bro hug" is ridiculous...Maybe its cuz I'm north of 40 & didn't grow up with the man hug unless it was family....a good firm handshake will suffice rog...

Maybe instead of a hug, the draftee can come out and punch Goodell square in the jaw as hard as he possibly can. After that, he can make Goodell put his top set of teeth on the ground and curb stomp him. Now THAT would make for some great viewing.

I just want to express my annoyance with the Draft date being moved. Sunday is my birthday and as long as I can remember the Draft has always been the weekend of my birthday. And last year and this year really annoys the hell out of me that its occurring in May.

I'm thinking that the NFL sees a way to get the draft program hosted for free. They simply say to some big city "Hey look, if you pony up the dough for the facility and security, we'll bring the annual draft to YOUR city and do some shmoozing in between picks, rounds, etc."

They could get the mayor or City Manager some face time, give shout outs to some of the local VIP types, feature the local team's owner, coach, etc, and not have to shell out a dime for the draft.

I can't wait for them to bring the NFL Draft to Boston. :)

I think we should move the draft to London next year! ;)
My vote goes for Brazil. Either that or Los Angeles.

Getting away from those childish Jets fans is a nice perk. Now we'll see Bears fans booing the Packers picks.

I've never understood the hug thing, being that half of the players ultimately will be fined by R. Stokoe Goodell and the NFLPA regularly does battle with him.

The thing I like most about the draft now is what a fraud Mike Mayock has become:

Rich Eisen: So Mike, the Dolphins are up next, what do you think they'll do.

Mike Mayock: Well it's clearly going to be the offensive tackle or the running back - those are their biggest needs ....

<hears what the Dolphins' actual pick is in his earpiece>

Mike Mayock: .....Or it could be the linebacker.

Commissioner: with the 10th pick, the Dolphins select LINEBACKER

Rich Eisen: Wow Mayock! Once again you nailed it.

I like the idea of the Draft moving around, maybe they will be in Boston in the next 5 years or so..

What I disagree with is the timing, the draft should be earlier as it used to be.. but the NFL has figured out a way to turn their 21 game schedule into a 52 week affair... this is not about the fans, it is about keeping the brand in fans heads year round..

Last year was just ridiculous; the second week of May was just way too late. I do like the idea of different cities hosting every year. I like the three day draft, however, I feel they need to change the format to Rounds 1 & 2 on Day 1, Rounds 3 & 4 on Day 2, and Rounds 5,6,7 on Day 3.

I'm also hoping both Winston and Mariota go first and second so we don't have to listen to the talking heads the whole round. Last year the non-stop banter about Manziel and the year before with Te'o was so out of control I was ready to turn the draft off. They had the foresight to stop showing guys in the green room on the phone before being picked, so maybe they can remind the mediots that there are 32 guys getting drafted per round and not just two or three.

Have to remember the city must be "cool" enough to draw 20somethings to a banquet where They could be on national TV as they drop. NY, Chicago, L.A., maybe Honalulu and New Orleans. (Or Vegas so teams know to not draft anyone who shows up. :) )

Once I tossed MLB and the NBA out, the NFL became year round for me.

I've never been that much into the draft though, mainly because I don't see any of the players play until they're in the NFL. They're all just names to me.

I think it should be rotated to cold weather cities with no chance at a bowl. This event is a boom for local economies and cities PR.

Be that as it may, I'm more than happy to watch the NFL channel's coverage rather than that of FESPN.
