If we had swapped 1st round picks with Jets, what would be your plan?

Disclaimer: This isn't happening, it was never happening. We aren't getting anything this year for the tampering, if ever, let alone swapping picks in the 1st round. Please don't turn this into a thread about the tampering, it's simply meant to gauge what your outlook would be if we did have the 6th pick.

So what would be the plan? Move up a couple spots for one of the defensive players? Stay put and take Brandon Scherff or someone else? Hope to trade back with the Browns or another team?

For me personally, I'd take Scherff and really struggle to even consider trade offers. He's an instant starter and he's an incredible insurance policy to Solder negotiations.

Thoughts?

I would draft either Amari Cooper or Leonard Williams at 6 (likely whichever one Oakland doesn't take). If both are gone I would then trade down to a team probably looking to move up to draft Kevin White or Todd Gurley.

How about a trade down from 6 with Miami who want Kevin White.
1(6) (1,600 points) to Miami for 1(14) + 2(47) + 4 (114) (1596 points)

If we could pull that off why not move down again? Someone like Arizona could move up ahead of SD to try and get Melvin Gordon.
1(14) + 6(178) (1120.2 points) to Arizona for 1(23) + 2(55) (1110 points)

That would give us 23, 47, 55, 64, 96, 97, 101, 114, 131, 219, 253

That is more than enough ammo to move around, maybe back into the 1st round and get two impact players.

This is a completely unrealistic scenario but still a fun exercise

If Williams was there I would take him, if not I would try to move down a few spots and take either Gurley or Lael Collins.

I personally think tampering stuff is overblown and shouldn't affect anyone's draft picks but it's the Jets so I'll play along. I would most likely trade down until we are back at 32 lol. All joking aside, if we magically find ourself in the top 10, I would try to find a day 1 starter on the Oline. Maybe Ereck Flowers.

Good question.

If I couldn't trade back, I'd probably go with Scherff and not worry about LG for the next decade.

But I'd try to trade back, take Gurley, Dupree or Jones and plan what I'm going to do with the valuable extra picks I've just picked up.

Scherff and I am all set on OL. Too bad we are dreaming that the fat head at the top of league would punish his beloved jets !!!

If I stay at 6 I'm finally taking the dominant WR we've been lacking since Moss.

Otherwise it might be a trade down. I like Scherff but I refuse to take a guard in the top 10. You can always get a guard later on.

I am whatever the opposite of "Draftnik" is, so my realm of expertise is suspect.

If we had the 6th pick, would trade it for a early second round pic in '15 and a 1st round pick in '16....
then next year trade the extra 1st for an early second in '16 and two thirds in '17... on and on.

Trade back and take Marcus Peters before the Bengals or Ravens get their filthy mitts on him.

Trade it straight up for Ryan Mallet.

I would take WR David Terrell from Michigan over DT Richard Seymour from Georgia and then I'd be as smart as Ron Borges.

If we had swapped 1st round picks with Jets, what would be your plan?

  1. Giggle like a schoolgirl
  2. Sign up at every Jets message board
  3. Troll the hell out of said boards until I was banned
  4. Giggle like a schoolgirl again

Trade down for the 2 Cleveland first or for the 2 New Orleans first and their 2nd.

Trade down again if you can with your top first pick.

Draft Byron Jones and Marcus Peters. Get a pass rushing DT as well at some point. then go O for the rest of the draft.

You might not win the SB this year but you will be a powerhouse for the next 3-4 years.

Obviously Leonard Williams if he is there, I actually think they would try and move up from 6 in order to get him but after him Amari Cooper or Kevin White. I'm not sure how they feel about White though, obviously with NE and Wide outs they would have to be confident he could understand the playbook. I'm not sure they would spend a high pick like that on a DE if he isnt going to be a starter, but they might be willing to grab Beasley or Dante Fowler jr or even Randy Gregory

Just once I'd like to be in this position just to see what BB would do. Obviously I hope it happens because of a trade.
