and just like that...*POOF*...the game we 've known and loved for almost a century...GONE BABY GONE...that ex-Disney exec and the rest of the NFL offices cabal have finally managed to mangle and disfigure our league forever. Now it's on the threshold of becoming the WWFL...worldwide football league.

You people tell me this...what NCAA football player of any repute whatsoever will want to be drafted and play in a foreign country? Oh, they'll all SAY the appropriate things and play down how they feel about it but you all KNOW no one is going to want to be in a foreign country playing ball while everyone they know and grew up with and played with in college is on an NFL team situated in the U.S.

This means the league is purely entertainment now and the players are nothing more than WWE like performers. In time this will become known as the "How To Kill The Golden Goose" decision. Good job, rich kid scumbags...you took your beautiful shiny toy and turned it into a pile of dried birdshyt in under a decade.

Yes, Sophie's Choice. Jacksonville x London. :confused::confused:

Sportingly speaking I think it would be awful, but live outside the country in a much better city ? I do not say that to the detriment of certain cities . London , Paris ... are one of the most beautiful cities in the world.Language is not a barrier (London). The city is safe . Cosmopolitan . It has all kinds of entertainment that a small town in the United States has and more.
Why then the basketball players that are not NBA level end up playing in China , Turkey, Spain ? This argument for me is one of the easiest to refute.

They play for the Gators in college and go to Seattle how is that not the same thing?

East to refute? Ridiculous. Jacksonville is part of the US...NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE. I'm not knocking any great cities worldwide,of course YOU take it that way. I'm not saying have all the goddamned football you want anywhere, I'm saying this decision CHANGES the National Football League. Then you use semipro baskeball players as YOUR proof that an NFL team would be welcomed by NFL players. Please...don't start with the "we are the world" bullshyt. THis decision will CHANGE the NFL as it is currently constituted. Great for you I guess. I think it sucks.

I hope they put them in the AFCW.

And how do they plan on signing players? From what I understand their taxes are insane, they have a permit and a fee for just about everything imaginable including -owning a tv-, the cops dont even need to pretend to have a reason to stop and search you. Yeah, i can see a lot of american college kids getting in line to have these huge money contracts confiscated by the royal family to live their life of leisure. england? nice place to visit but living there, oh hell no.

People who support this idea needs to understand the concept of culture. The so called american football is part of the american culture. You promote one game overseas here and there OK, it's an unique event, it's special, it's a big party, people get curious and attend the event. If you try to make that part of their routine you're gonna experience rejection and failure, because it's not part of their culture, they like Soccer. The American football is nothing new, if they in Europe had any serious interest then it would become a reality long time ago.

Same thing with races, they love Formula 1, people in US and Canada likes different categories of racing, Nascar, Indy, CART, etc...Try to insert some oval speedways there in the European F1 calendar to see the huge boo guys from FIA and FOM are gonna hear. One race OK, more than one, NOT OK. Same thing happens in the opposite way, they are trying for decades to insert the F1 in America, it doesn't stick, doesn't matter what they do, it's not about having american drivers or oval tracks, it's cultural.

Lost in the "cultural" discussion is that football isn't part of their school system like it is here (junior high, high school, colleges).

I dont agree with you. I like soccer and tournaments between countries are much more fun than internal competitions.

But in the case of football I think the amount of practitioners in the world (not in an amateur way, as a hobby), say the US college level, is still very small. Adding to the fact the distance. Intercontinental competitions usually demand a huge part of the calendar.

For the most part, Americans don't have a lot interest in international competition. The olympics used to be big here, but not for a long time. US vs. the Soviet Union? THAT was huge but today, very few would pay attention. Let other nations have their own leagues.

Look at US golfers...very few play in international tournaments because we have the best here. So the best of the best international PGA players come to the US to play if they really want to claim to be the best.

I would bet a lot of money that most NFL fans in the US agree with me. It may be a possessive thing, but that's ok. I don't want to dilute the NFL any more than it already has been. Either that, or by NFL rules, foreign nations' NFL teams shouldn't be allowed to draft from US colleges.

I think it's all part of the "New World Order" conspiracy some people talk about! ;)

Americans for the most part have ZERO interest in a new world order (unless they're REALLY messed up!) or an international version of the NFL.

This is OUR sport....don't mess with it or we'll fug you up!! ....and "you" know who I'm talking about!

God...I never realised I lived in a police state...thanks for educating me!

Stupidest idea ever, will the name change to the "International Football League"... grow the game in the US fill the LA market.. Goodell is a crack addicted whore.

Goodell and Kraft read this site....so listen, if you want all your shiny new stadiums to be standing for a few more years, you'll stop this insane fuggn idea now.

Otherwise, we'll be saying..."what ever happened to Patriots Place?" as we drive by the rubble.

capiche?

The Olympics have been destroyed by the same folks who are now destroying the NFL. Television. There was a time that I could watch the Olympics and see athletes perform, but now the coverage is more like an episode of The Kardashians.

And then there's the money, which is the reason that international golfers come here to play. I don't think that they come here to learn. If anything, our golfers could be learning from them.

I agree on the olympics but disagree on your golf comments. The US PGA is by far the most competitive of all the international versions of the PGA. The best of the best don't come here to learn, they come here to compete with the world's best.

The fact that many NFL players are gun owners will go over smashingly in London.

If all Thursday night games are at a neutral site (expand schedule to 17 games) then London can have a parade of games - more than with a team - without giving a team all the disadvantages of being so far away and with a different money and stuff.

Good idea, except ...

8:30 pm EST = 1:30 am GMT. They're not going to fill a stadium week in, week out for games that start at 1:30 and finish around 5 am.

We don't want international NFL....so there really aren't any options acceptable.
