2015 Draft Prospect Thread

Better tape, bigger, just as athletic and better in press. I know you love Jones but Rowe is the guy I want.

I just didn't se it with Rowe. Saw his tape against Michigan and I don't think there was a single trait that impressed me. I'm obviously missing something but it just didn't grab me at all.

One game is a small sample. I can't recall if I saw Michigan or not. I'll have to see if it's on Youtube.

I realise that which is why I haven't commented on Rowe before and I still am not saying he's not a good CB - he just doesn't appeal to me so far. I tend to know early whether I'll like a prospect or not - I liked Jones almost immediately and didn't Rowe. Just a matter of personal choice.

I like them both. I just see them as different players for different schemes. I know you think Jones can play press that's what I haven't seen from him.

I could see Kevin Johnson show up on Jimmy Fallon's NFL Superlatives list alongside Logan Ryan and Matthew Slater for "Least Black Name"

Devin and Jason Mccourty sound like characters from a film starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck.

After watching some games of Olomu, it's near binky status. I see a player physical in man coverage, great instincts/hands, and he also plays taller than 5'9.

Similar to Keenan Allen in 2013, he's gone from a mid-1st rounder to rounds 3-4 due to injury and people questioning his game.

I think he's my third favorite CB after Peters/Jones.

A random tweet from Benjamin Albright interested me:

NFL teams looking at/working out Josh Bredl as BOTH an OT and 5 tech DE in NFL. Played TE through HS and 1st 2 years in college.

Bredl is a DT for CSU-Pueblo who is 6-6, 295lbs, ran a 4.89 forty, a 7.13 3-cone, jumped 33" and 9'3 and benched 28 reps. That sounds like an interesting conversion project to OT for the Patriots. Obviously Solder is heftier, but those numbers are very similar to Solder. A potential for the wtf! Pick we get every year perhaps?

The question is whether he can be more than "just" the slot guy in the NFL. If available on day 3 he would be a nice replacement for Arrington in 2016 as he is becoming expensive.

Certainly a fair question. I will say that he plays taller than his height. I'd agree that on early day 3 he'd be a sweet pick as guy that could excel in the slot while also play effectively on the outside vs. non giant WRs.

FYI with next year I actually meant 2016. I don't see anyone replacing Arrington this year, also Olomu might need another year + offseason to be at 100%. I corrected the sentence to make it less confusing.

On day 3 I would be absolutely ok with picking him up and seeing what he can offer. As I said, worse case we get a cheap replacement for Arrington. Best case he is viable outside as well.

Not sure if he's been mentioned yet, but Dontae McCoy out of ISU would be an interesting late day 3 Strong Safety pickup. Dude is ferocious against the run and looks to be decent in coverage.

I think if the Pats go wideout, it will be someone along the lines of Dorsett or Lockett. They already have size on the outside with LaFell and possibly Wright and/or Dobson. BB loves the Antonio Brown types, and both of those players are quick as well as fast, with some polish. Could play inside or out, with both players able to catch the intermediate route and turn it into a big play (something Brady excels at as opposed to the deep ball to the side line or the post) and Lockett would also be an upgrade as a kick returner. Lockett in the second could be an option.

Lockett is also a 3x captain at K-St. I heard an interview with him. The host asked him to give him an example of a captain's role. He told the guy; "It's his job to get the players to do things in order to be successful. Not, what they wanted to."

I'm on the Jones, Peters or Collins in the 1st hype train

Collins is starting to intrigue me, mainly because he's the only top CB that we haven't been reported as having had contact with. Considering the Pats' love of secrecy and misdirection, I find myself wondering whether there's more to that omission.

If Collins falls past 32 into that Jamie Collins range then I think he's a good trade back candidate.
