I have been surfing the local radio stations, and it is pretty grim. The best coverage is on WFAN (AM 630) out of New York. It sucks that a NYC station has more Patriots coverage than WEEI, but WEEI is a baseball station (in spite of the fact that football is more popular).

The coverage should get better next week, but I will never forget the WORST draft-day coverage in the history of radio. Felger was at the helm of this trainwreck. A few years ago Felgie spent the whole day of the draft complaining about how much he hated the draft. I also remember him being shocked afterwards at how popular the draft was with fans. Someone in management must have slapped Felger around a bit because he has changed his tune and now tries to cover it, but I get the nagging suspicion that his heart is not in it.

I was stuck working and clearly remember Felger opening up draft coverage on WEEI by asking listeners to call in and talk about anything other than the draft. He's a world class douchebag.

If any Boston/New England sports fan is listening to Felger. You are the one that is crazy. He's a contrarian. Plain and simple. Amazing his shtick is still working in a savvy sports area.

After the greed-obsessed managers at WEEI decided to destroy the The Best Show on Radio (The Big Show), there was little choice except for Felger. However the addition of Jerry Thornton to the afternoon show on WEEI gives us an alternative to Felger. Still both stations seem to have an unhealthy addiction to baseball, and it is not just straight baseball talk but it is endless complaining about certain players.

I will be tuning into WFAS (630 AM) this morning for my football fix.

Dale and Holley talked football all season. In fact, Dale is probably the biggest homer on radio. When one of the home teams is playing well, he can't even acknowledge that they can be beaten. I like Holley over him because of his football knowledge and more balanced outlook.

And that its worked for so long.

the big show sucked just as bad in its own way.

My Sympathies, Gentleman.

I would rather slice off my DingleDangle than listen to Felcher and the other Sewage for any length of Time.

The Only show that i can tolerate is Jim Miller Pat Kirwin on NFL radio.

The Big Show was the best sports radio in the history of the area. It is not just me; they won a lot of awards. I am very happy that WEEI's ratings tanked after ditching Ordway. The Big Show lots of good guest, skits, and the Whiner Line. Nothing has come close since. Freddy and the Pink Pachyderm could even get something out of BB....

Each to his own. After a decent start the Big Blow became full of himself and dominated the talk and spent half the time talking about nonsense like his last meal at Davios, or go on and on about callers like that moron Dakota. The reason they got rid of him (if i remember correctly) was because of the amount of $$$$$$$$ they were paying him coupled with his ratings going down. Listeners got tired of Chubbys self aggrandizing shtick.

It was a horrific business move and their afternoon show tanked....until they got Jerry Thornton. Everyone at WEEI now seems to realize what a poor move it was. The Big O was on the morning show a while back; I surprised he would even talk to WEEI after that move. He should move to The Sports Hub and kick WEEI's ass. So who cares if he is a blowhard or a flippity flopper or he had obnoxious guests; he was the best. The Big Show was like a night performance and some of the Whiner Line callers were hilarious.

Oh well.....BTW there is barely a peep about the draft on the local shows, alas, but it came from an odd quarter--Felger! Felger was defensive about his draft coverage; good to see he reads this (actually we know he even posts--fact not fiction) and hopefully he will up his game. He said they have been using a dart board for the picks--at least they are trying--and made some correct calls.
