Hate that our bye week is week 4. This year depth is gonna be critical once the injuries set in. Gonna be critical if we want post season success to get the 1 or 2 seed

That's why it'll be extra important to string together wins early.

Past four years the schedulers have been very good to us.

Week 10
Week 10
Week 9
Week 7

All middle of the year bye weeks. I'm surprised the NFL was that good to us to begin with, although the London game may have helped that cause a bit.

The Texas/Oklahoma game will be played the day before NE plays Dallas.

Note: the venereal disease peaks this weekend. :D

My prediction is a lot of suicide calls, esp if both Oklahoma and NE wins. :D

Screw the f###### Winter Classic. As Curran said, I bet Belichick is real pleased with the end of this schedule and maybe next year the Pats can displace the Bruins from a game at the Garden.

Home games are fairly lackluster. Steelers, Jets, and Eagles....meh

I think Seattle had the exact same thing last year

Somebody hates the Seahawks. They have 4 games against teams coming off a bye..I can't remember any team having more than 3 teams in the past and that is usually only 1 team a year...1/4 of all their games will be against well rested teams....I'd be po'd if I were them...

If we don't play the Ravens in the playoffs we will go the entire year without playing them. That would be awesome.

Cleaning out some e-mails I came across a response from the Patriots. It was in response to a promotion they run annually to give away tickets to fans who do the best at predicting the season's schedule. A minor exercise in futility, as you can see.

Week One: Home vs Steelers
My Pick: Home vs Steelers
- The NFL usually kicks off the season with the defending champions playing at home against a team from their conference, but not in their division, that was in the playoffs the previous year. Pittsburgh was the only club that filled the bill. 1-0.

Week Two: At Buffalo
My Pick: At Houston
- I was guessing a road game following the home start, with division games a bit later. 1-1.

Week Three: Home vs Jaguars
My Pick: Home vs Washington
- Guessing a home game versus a team that didn't make the playoffs. Similar to week two, close but no cigar. 1-2.

Week Four: Bye
My Pick: At Jets
- The Patriots usually play the Jets early, and this would be after Rosh Hashanah when New York teams don't play home games. I was figuring the Pats would get their bye in mid-late October, setting up a bunch of marketable games during ratings sweeps in November. Oh well, 1-3.

Week Five: At Dallas
My Pick: Home vs Eagles
- I figured the Cowboys to be one of those November sweeps games. No half credit for an NFC East game; 1-4.

Week Six: At Indy
My Pick: At Giants
- Again I was figuring the game against the Colts would be reserved for the Nielsen ratings period. 1-5.

Week Seven: Home vs Jets
My Pick: Bye
- Didn't see that week four bye coming. Six straight wrong; 1-6. Unfortunately the losing streak has a long ways to go.

Week Eight: Home vs Dolphins
My Pick: At Bills
- I recall going back and forth with Miami and Buffalo in this slot. Close but no cigar; 1-7.

Week Nine: Home vs Washington
My Pick: Home vs Dolphins
- I didn't think this game would be played during ratings sweeps. Fox doesn't usually like to promote games versus AFC teams, but I guess they'll look past that if the opponent is the defending Super Bowl champion; 1-8.

Week Ten: At Giants
My Pick: At Colts
- I figured Indy would be an automatic for ratings period, but I failed to consider the fact that these two have met twice in the Super Bowl in the last eight years. As a 4:25 game it will be hyped and broadcast almost nationwide; 1-9.

Week 11: Home vs Bills
My Pick: At Denver
- Error on my part: I neglected to include a Rex vs BB game during the November ratings sweeps; 1-10.

Week 12: At Denver
My Pick: Home vs Jets
- Another error on my part: marketing focuses on individuals not teams. Therefore Rex in Buffalo is a bigger deal than the Jets-Pats rivalry outside NE/NY/NJ. As for the Broncos, close only counts in horseshoes and with hand grenades; 1-11.

Week 13: Home vs Eagles
My Pick: At Dallas
- Once again the idea was right (NFC East), but wrong team. This marks the third game against an NFC East time that will be a 'primary' 4:25 game; Washington is the only NFCE team that the Pats play where that is not the case. 1-12.

Week 14: At Houston
My Pick: Home vs Jaguars
- I was figuring this would be a good spot for one of the AFC South games (other than Indy). Yet again, close but no cigar; 1-13.

Week 15: Home vs Titans
My Pick: Home vs Titans
- Holy Schnikes, I got one right! Was figuring more in-conference games, with division games the last two weeks; 2-13.

Week 16: At Jets
My Pick: Home vs Bills
- The Pats usually play the Jets once early and once mid-season; maybe that has been changed with Rex now in Buffalo. 2-14.

Week 17: At Miami
My Pick: At Miami
- My guess was that somebody in the Miami organization told Stephen Ross that if the Patriots were not going to play in south Florida in September, then the Dolphins should not have to play in New England in December. Ross has over recent years asked the NFL for away games early, to make the fan experience more enjoyable; why care about a home field advantage? 3-14.

With all of just three games correct, it is safe to say I won't be winning any of those tickets.

We tied. Also got 3 games correct. Jaguars - Week 3 and the two Dolphins games

I hate that any team would get a bye in week 4 or in week 14(? Not sure offhand if they do week 14 or not?). The first four and last four weeks should have all teams playing. That leaves 9 weeks to spread out 32 teams or 16 non-games (3.5 teams per week or 2-7x4-2). How hard is that????

They get it right at the end, by having all teams play in the last five weeks of the season (last bye is #12), but they should even it out at the front end, like you said.

I know this would never happen (league would scream we are losing money) but I would love to see every team get two byes, one in week 6 and one in week 12. Yeah there would be no games to watch but you could build anticipation by scheduling division games or marquee match ups (Brady vrs manning etc) the week after. I am all about watching great games and the best are when everyone is healthy and rested. I would even go so far as to say add a third one before the playoffs, add 4 teams to the playoffs and do away with earning a bye. It is a super violent sport and the current system leads to winning a Super Bowl to be less about talent then being lucky with injuries. Change the IR rules so that you can put someone who is dinged up as out til the next bye. Allow all teams to carry the full 53 man roster in every game so people are fresh. The season does not even have to be longer if you play 3 preseason games instead of 4. I think this would lead to better football as it is fair to everyone, sets up epic match ups three times a year, and injuries would be less of a factor. Like I said never gonna happen but I can dream.

Week 4 bye stinks, followed by at Dallas and at Indy, which also stink. Looks like the NFL is trying really hard to get Luck his win vs. Brady. I agree with whomever said home games aren't that great this year.

I'm really looking forward to those games. Plus at home vs. Buffalo and Washington. Jaguars and Titans aren't teams we play often, either. I think it'll be a fun season at home, with a solid chance to go undefeated in Gillette. Win all of 'em at home, go .500 on the road and we'll be in great shape.

Opponent QBs roughly in order of skill level:

Andrew Luck
Tony Romo
Ben Roethlisberger
One-and-Done Manning
Eli Manning
Ryan Tannehill (twice)
Ryan Mallett/Brian Hoyer
Nick Foles/Mark Sanchez
Kirk Cousins/QB formerly known as RGIII
Blake Bortles
EJ Manuel/Matt Cassell (twice)
Zach Mettenberger/#2 Draft Pick
Geno Smith/Ryan Fitzpatrick (twice)

I'm sure this won't be the exact picture with the draft, injuries, and trades, but we are looking at some real hot garbage at the QB position, especially compared to last year. After the top 5 or so, these guys are backup caliber.
