How much is Chip Kelly trolling everyone? AKA Tebow signed with the Eagles

Well I see this completely diffrened - Adding Tebow cheates more trade chips. Barkley, Bradford and Sanchez? Mean.. where would Matt Barkley rank if he came out this year instead?

2011
Demaryius Thomas 551 yards 4 TDs
Eric Decker 612 yards 8 TDs

2012
Demaryius Thomas 1434 yards 10 TDs
Eric Decker 1064 yards 13 TDs

Slight difference in production with a top 10 QB and non top 10 QB.

Try again Deus.

Yes, comparing a Thomas coming off of foot surgery and a long rehab that took him almost two years to bounce back from so that he was only a starter in 7 of his first 32 possible games in years 1 and 2, in a different offensive system, and then to the second best QB of the generation after he'd begun to establish himself is exactly the same as your initial claim. Likewise with a second receiver, Decker, who went from 6 catches to 44 in his jump from a rookie to a second year player, even before Manning got to Denver.

You're embarrassing yourself about Tebow. Yet again.

Tebow apparently has the penthouse suite in your head, and stays there rent free.

Typical Deus response; I don't agree with you so you're embarrassing yourself. I'll also propose history as I remember it conveniently ignoring all the factors that disprove my position. Tell me Deus, what receiver, playing in the NFL (not College), put up a 1000 yard season with Tebow as his QB?

Tebow, as a QB, is rubbish in the NFL. He was rubbish in New York, he was rubbish in New England and outside of 1 season where he and the team appeared to catch fire, he was rubbish in Denver.

Moving on from your other point, I think Tebow, as an NFL QB is terrible. He cannot pass with any sort of consistent accuracy. If he could accept he's simply not good enough as a pocket passer, he could make a hell of a Swiss Army Knife guy. I love his want/will to compete and physically, he has the tools to be a good player in the NFL, just not at QB.

I have never been able to fit skinny leg jeans, so I don't buy skinny leg jeans.

I love Kelley more and more with every move he makes. He's just like BB in that he knows the kinds of players he wants on his team and has a clear idea of how HE wants to build a team. He could very well end up being wrong but at least he has courage enough to do it his way.

I like Kelly a lot too. Him and BB are both cutthroat and think outside the box.

Wishing Tebow the best of luck, as long as its not in our expense. This league needs more guys like him.

My advice to Tim if he wants to make it in the NFL, is go to the CFL play a lot of downs, hire a personal coach and hone his craft..

Gotta wonder if Kelly can control the noise/hysteria that will follow him around.. the experience at Gillette during the TC when he was on the roster was a tad nauseating. Moms from afar toting their kids came to witness the second coming of Timmy, they knew nothing about football, but all desired to catch a glimpse...

Wonder if his fans will start the mantra that "Bradford might the better quarterback, but Tebow is a better person" insert Sanchez if you like..

That's not a fair comparison though. No ones claiming that Tebow an elite QB, just that he deserves a job in this league. Which he does.

After seeing SF fall apart last year like that, I'd take Tebow over Kaepernick.

Yeah, that Denver D was terrible during that stretch.

They kind of were.

The 2011 Broncos defense finished 24th in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed. They improved a bit when Tebow took over as a starter, allowing only 22.7 PPG compared to 24.4, but that still only would have left them ranked 20th in the league.

If there was any luck involved, it would have to be in one-possession games. The Broncos went 6-1 in one-score games with Tebow as a starter. Generally, records in one-possession games even out over time so you could claim that, but don't say it was the defense, because it wasn't.

What became problematic was when Tim would be indecisive with which side of the field to throw based on the coverage. The hesitation led to a slower decision which led to slower footwork and a rushed throw. In my opinion, this is what caused the inaccurate passes.

The balls wobbled. His body was out of sync and out of rhythm - basically the two things Tom House stresses can't be so in order to ensure the spin of a football. It's that spin that helps greatly with accuracy.

Apologies if this article has already been posted in this thread. At any rate, you can bet that Chip Kelly has been thinking things through like this too.

It will be interesting to see if he and Tom House can succeed where McDaniels and the rest have failed.

He just took a year off and had a years worth of special coaching-development on his technique...it's the 90 man roster timeframe....it's NOT our team....

I am not really sure why anyone can be so sure that what WAS his ability ceiling currently IS his ability ceiling OR why folks should care so much.

Wish him well as an individual (less 1 game a year) and move on.
You seem to care more about whether others care than I ever have. Aside from that, if you've ever watched Tebow closely in practice and then compared that to how his mechanics go AWOL in real games, you'll understand he's a lost cause as a conventional NFL quarterback. Four league coaching staffs (two regimes in Denver, Jets), including the best ever (Pats), tried and failed with him. The problem isn't his competitive drive, it's the disconnect between his head and body when it comes to processing information quickly under pressure. Perhaps Kelly has something special in mind for Tebow, like a tailor-made option package. I do wish him well regardless.

Why does he or anyone deserve a job in the NFL??

The NFL is the consummate meritocracy, either you have it or don't...

Why not? Same players, same position, different Quarterback, significantly improved numbers. Also, nobody deserves anything. If you're good enough, take it.

Too bad Mother Teresa isn't still around. She could be a cheerleader for the Cowboys... she'd look great in that uniform with her Coif (head piece)....(In her best cheer) gimme the lepers...the sick...and the poor... what does is say... religion, religion, you can't get away..... ;)

LOL at the smothering ESPN coverage:

He can help a team win in the NFL when you factor in everything tangible AND intangible he brings, IMO. Perhaps Kelly likes his intangibles enough to carry him a full season.
The talk in Philly is that maybe they brought him in to try a two point conversion after every TD....Kelly often went for 2 in college even in typical "kick it for 1" scenarios.
As crazy as that seems, he might have the perfect skill set for that type of play. Maybe Kelly thinks it is worth 2 points a game.....
This is especially true is they change the rule so it's the yard and a half for 2 pt and kick from the 15 for 1...as proposed.

As weird as this sounds... I actually think Tim adds much more value to a team as a starter than a backup QB. The Broncos demonstrated that you can tailor your offensive system and personnel for a guy like Tebow and his strengths. Can't really do that for a backup QB.

Not that he'll ever get a chance to start. Good luck to him, I wish him well.

What does that crazy depth chart look like now ? Bradford-Sanchez-Barkley-Tebow ?

Chip is fun. He adds fun to the nfl. Who knows if it'll lead to a championship- but it sure is fun.

Chip is trying to one-up BB and our new 2 QB offense by implementing a 3 QB offense.

Somehow, I think people will interpret what this figure is doing COMPLETELY differently than what the pretzel makers intended. :D :

Get 'em while they're hot! @TimTebow pretzels are only $1 at our Mayfair location. #TebowTime

Why teams bother I just don't understand. I love Tebow's drive and will to compete but he simply doesn't have the throwing accuracy to be in the NFL.

One word: Merchandise.
