McCain is a fairly obscure CB (from Memphis) who might be one of these surprise picks that riles up Mel Kiper. Why McCain? He had 11 INTs in his last two season, is an electric kick returner, and, here is why I think that the Patriots are interested, he had the best 20-yard shuttle time at the Combine. The Patriot worked him out privately last month. Interesting, eh?

Nothing would surprise me. I would think the team may want to upgrade from Amendola at KR too although I think Danny does a pretty good job.

Playing Devil's advocate here, it should be added that he's also a 5'9" slot corner and we're a team that already has three such beasts.

Point well taken, but 6'1'' CBs (who can cover) don't grow on trees. I am thinking something like round 4-7, but this is a wild guess.

To be fair, I don't know how good he is so I'm open to the idea. But, I think it's more likely they look at guys in the 6' + range and JaCorey Shepherd and Dexter McDonald of Kansas fit that description. For me, those are the guys I'm looking at if Jones/Johnson are truly no longer a consideration.

Arrington is getting expensive, so getting another slot corner (e.g. Olomu if he slides far enough) to take over in 2016 and free up some resources would definitely be a worthy idea.

Why would it be shocking in and of itself? Depends on where he's picked. First 3 rounds would be shocking.

I happen to like McCain as a player and based purely on his ability would love to take him in the 6th. I do agree though that it doesn't seem like we have room for another slot corner.
