Why is it so important for BB to stay for Jimmy "Gameday" Garrappolo ?
I never said Jimmy G. And you could be right it might not matter he might be out when Brady is for all we know or maybe he knows 69 is it. But I am saying if Brady retires when he is is 67 or 68 or whatever and then he finds a QB that he loves might he then rethink things and give that guy an honest window say 5 years or so and wind up well into his 70s.

hmmmm....interesting to think about. But there really shouldn't be much speculation as to who will become the successor to Brady. Everyone knows that Jimmy is being groomed to become the next franchise quarterback. Right?

What concerns me, and what ought to concern you, is whether there's someone on the staff who has the pedigree to step in for Belichick once he decides to leave. I'm fairly certain it will be someone who's been part of the organization for years, knows the inner-workings well enough, and knows the x's and o's to make the right plays on the field. Josh McDaniels is the best candidate in my mind. Can't really see anyone else in that role.

I give him 7-8 more years

I was surprised that Carroll is older than Belichick

He is 121 behind Shula in wins so that's about 10 years. Yeah 127 or something like that. Go bill.!

You won't be surprised that Bray Bray 19 thinks the newest Rat coach will far surpass BB's record and years as head coach..."and he's much younger too!! a great hire! the right hire! a SUPER hire!"...

Coach is always talking about situational football and this is obviously that. As long as he is enjoying the job, BB will coach.

Why is it so important for BB to stay for Jimmy "Gameday" Garappolo ?

Because I think BB has a healthy enough ego that he wants to stick it to the people who say he only wins because of Brady.

I almost idolize the man, the coach, the GM, the football-phile BB. It's hard to digest the inevitable day that he steps away from the sidelines. However, it would be even harder for me to digest seeing this football god struggle to succeed. I'd rather he leave on his own terms, leave because a new phase in life is warranted versus the game has passed him by. I sincerely hope the same thing for TB.

Another poster said it -- sorry can't remember the poster to give credit -- BB loves the game. I expect he'll either take up a front office job or he will go assist a high school team or even a state prison team. The guy is just an absolute match for the profession he chose. He's a very lucky man in that he does what he loves (one of the rarest occurrences in life). A sad day indeed when he leaves the sidelines....

If Belichick is close to Shula's all time win's when he turns 70, I believe he will hang around just to p1ss on Shula's grave.

Every so often I feel compelled to log in for the express purpose of liking or "winnering" a post...

^^ You guys are hilarious LOL

No doubt, and I expect that he'll stay around long enough to ensure that the organization is wired the exact way he wants it to be. After all, drafting Garappolo was his decision. He'll need to stay and make sure that Jimmy gets comfortable with his role and responsibilities as a franchise quarterback.

I trust Bill, and know he'll leave us in good hands!

I luv BB, and the thought of him leaving also makes me rather glum :-( ....that said, I'd rather see him and Brady leave a year too early, rather than a year too late.

But even after he retires as HC, I'm sure he'll stay around in some other capacity...maybe in the front office

Go Pats!

Lol joker...shocking

I hope he stays long enough to break Shula's record, AND I hope Shula lives to see it. Go easy on the crappy steaks you sell, Don. You've got a plate of STFU coming your way.

I really hate Shula, and I cannot wait till the day Belichick surpasses him. The count right now... Shula: 328 career wins vs. Belichick: 211 career wins. Belichick has 118 wins left to beat Don Shula. The question is, can he do it in less than 10 years?

Just out of curiosity, what makes you feel so strongly?

We heard the same thing with Ryan Mallett.
