Comforting tweet from Sharks of Vegas

Yes the league changed direction. Somehow SOV's "source(s)" didn't advise them of that.
The simplest interpretation of the objective evidence (timing of tweets) shows SOV to simply be astute re-tweeters of breaking news, not generators.

No one informed Vincent either. I honestly don't care whether they are breaking the news or passing it along, all I care about is their track record and so far they have been pretty accurate in their defense of the Patriots.

Bingo. I find it rather funny the acrobatics some are trying to employ to make a case that SOV has actually been WRONG so far. The NFL changing it's own mind (even leaving Troy Vincent on the limb) does not negate what they were tweeting when it was on the money. Kraft/Belichick gave Hernandez a big extension several months before they cut him. Things change.

So far, they have been right on the money. Perhaps it's luck, who knows?

Well, we don't know what Troy Vincent knew on January 22nd. We only knew what he knew what he thought on January 20th.

I know I said I'm done here, but I'm kind of flabbergasted at smart people making (what I perceive) to be silly statements, so let's just hash this out one last time.

Here is Sharks of Vegas tweet at 8:32PM on January 22nd:

BREAKING - Our source has CONFIRMED there will be NO penalties imposed on the Patriots by the NFL in the wake of deflategate. Official announcement is expected sometime over the weekend.

At 11:00AM the next morning, the NFL released this statement, announcing Wells & Pash were on board for the investigation.

Now, I understand that Troy Vincent said on the 20th that the thing would be wrapped up. But what do you think the word "BREAKING" in SoV's tweet implies? Does it not imply that they have just very recently received new information that suggests the investigation will be ending, and that an announcement of no punishment for the Patriots would be coming over the weekend? Do you really think that at 8:32 on January 22nd that the NFL did not know that they would be hiring Ted Wells for further investigation if they would be releasing a press release about it on the morning of January 23rd?

We all agree that things changed course. But do you really find it believable that it changed course between 8pm on the 22nd and 11AM on the 23rd. So they reached out to Wells, Pash, hired them, and released a statement during that time. Wow they must've really burnt the midnight oil that night!!

BM, it's 2015.

They have Wells (who is the NFL's go-to third party investigator) on speed dial. It was a 15 hour timeframe. This ain't the Ozzie and Harriet 1950's waiting for the evening paper.

I'm sure Mr. Goodell didn't take the horse and carriage over to Mr. Well's abode to introduce himself, exchange resumes and explain his predicament over tea.

I'd be highly surprised if the communication between Goodell and Wells to get him on the case took more than 20 minutes. They kinda know the drill by now.

Yeah, Wells was onboard the second Goodell said, "Take as long as you need." Chafarkinching.

Exactly. Don't know why that is so hard to fathom happening within 15 hours. It's not like there was some Charles ****ens character with a quill pen and ink well writing up the contract by candlelight. :D

Did not say they were wrong
Said that they are simply an astute, quick re-tweeter of info broken by others
No evidence that they have a source(s) other than other reporters' twitter feeds

we shall see, so far there is nothing that indicates if they are wrong or right

Yep, I was a regular over there. I remember NEInsider. Wanted to believe he/she was legit. As you know that board was badly moderated and unreadable a lot of the time from trolls running wild and NEInsider's posts just seemed like an awful lot of effort if he or she just wanted to post for kicks.

FWIW I do remember NEInsider was the first to mention a "cheerleader tape" and this was not public info yet....

I guess we'll see how right SOV is....

You're right, his name was NEInsider. You also make a good point about the level of trolling on the ESPN boards. Someone could have put all that effort into an attempt to dupe Patriots fans, but they were competing with some nutcase spammer with 50 IDs. It hardly seemed worth the effort, but there were some real nuts on that board (not like all the normal, well-adjusted folks here ;) )

Anyway, all those posts are long gone now, but this subject did prompt me to do a little research. A lot of NEInsider's posts were also discussed here. If anyone is interested in a stroll down memory lane, here are some of the threads on NEInsiders posts:

Wasn't referring to you, PWP.

I think it's official. the league and head doofus have squandered the chance to settle this thing in time for it not to affect the draft. Decided or undecided, fans will be upset with a decision against, or not against the Pats, or the lingering indecision.

Might wreck my prediction of the Omissioner stepping down, or being pushed before the draft and changed to being terminated due to the public relations fiasco that will be caused by the draft.

I could see incessant booing and possibly the throwing of overripe tomatoes as the head clown fondles the new draftees, as he is wont to do.

Im really glad the draft is in Chicago because I don't want to deal with all the Jets fans in the audience this year.

Fair - the communication itself was likely brief, but the complete shift from exonerating Patriots to performing a colonoscopy on anyone on Kraft's payroll...could that have happened as fast? I am not so sure. What would have caused that?

Again, just to summarize, and this time I really will let it be so as not to derail the thread with my repetitive posts - SoV may turn out to be mostly right. I think the conclusions they've come to from the information they have are similar to what's been said here on this board - and I think those conclusions are - for the most part - right. But again, I just don't see evidence that they are genuine in their claim of having intel, and in fact, I think the evidence suggests otherwise.

LOL yep. BostonGirl and PatriotsLose were two gems weren't they? I'm sure that was 2 of the 50 IDs, and I remember when they thought it would be funny to bump all old posts from 7 years ago, make the board pretty much unusable and then they exploited a glitch that hid their tracks. I remember the greasemonkey scripts we all downloaded to filter out all the garbage and get some semblance of Patriots talk going on there.

And the moderators couldn't care less. The difference between that board and this one is like night and day.

As for NEInsider... I bet it could have been someone connected with the organization, but not anyone of high importance.

FWIW - SoV says they are planning to release a book on Deflategate and it's almost done. Don't know how much that says about their credibility but that does pique my interest.

Almost done? Isn't that premature ejaculation of ink since the BIG questions have not been answered.
I'm hoping that they have Ed Snowden hacking into Wells'server. If the Secretary of State can be hacked, Wells can be hacked. Git 'er done!

I'm working on a book on Boston's 2024 Olympic bid. It's almost done.
