The jury did their job, no hung jury.

In my best Johnny Cochrane voice:

IF THE GUM'S GOT SPIT YOU CANT ACQUIT

More of this from ESPN. Pathetic. Trying their hardest to stir up more Pats hate.

ESPNNFL
Half of the jurors in the Aaron Hernandez trial admitted they are Patriots fans.

in that case it truly was a jury of his peers. if they had been say giant fans, or jet fans it might be grounds for appeal

thankfully bb never had to testify.

Good riddance. Sadly, being both a famous athlete and a confirmed psychopath, he will probably fit in quite nicely in prison and be a respected leader of sorts.

I hear they like tight ends in prison.

I dunno. AH is a pretty big dude who played in the NFL. Not too many people can stand toe-to-toe with someone of that size, strength and speed.

Difficult case but not surpised. It does illustrate the difference between TV law and real law though. Many convictions come from circumstantial evidence. Circumstantial evidence can be stronger than direct evidence in some cases. For instance, a statement from a druggie would be direct evidence. DNA evidence is circumstantial... Circumstantial evidence just needs to be supported by other evidence in order to be strong...it was in this case...strong enough...All of this "no murder weapon" stuff is good for TV lawyers but not real lawyers.

I was listening to ESPN and a lawyer talked about the difference between circumstantial evidence and direct evidence by using the example that if you go to bed one night and the next morning you wake up to 6 inches of snow, it is circumstantial evidence that it snowed last night. If you woke up in the middle of the night and saw it snowing, it's direct evidence. Both prove the assertion that it snowed last night, just in different ways. Circumstantial evidence does not mean weak evidence. Especially when you have a mountain of it.

He wasn't that big, and he's considerably smaller now.

6'1 240 not big?

Maybe not next to a giant like Gronk, but in real life yes he's big.

Usually because some moron gets befuddled by reasonable doubt

It's never a bad thing to try and think of all possible angles on a jury. Someone's life is in the balance so you owe it to them and the system to make sure you have it right

The movie 12 angry men was a great example of that

No, that's not all that big. He's smaller than me and I have several friends that are larger. He's not 240 any more.

I wish we could talk about sports :-(

sad day for the NFL

It's because of men that size and greater that I'm glad New Hampshire doesn't have strict gun laws..

If someone like Hernandez broke into my house to rape and murder me and my wife, I'd be f#*ked! I sit at a desk all day long too, so I'd have no shot outside of a miracle to defend against someone of that stature and strength

Guns are the great equalizer!

I don't think they'll be looking to stand "toe to toe" with him. ;)

Push your thumb through his eye. He'll recoil just like a guy who's 5'4" and 120lbs.

This is a bizarre case to follow, I can't believe, a guy who scored a touchdown in a SB, how many people on the planet can say they did something like that, gets a 40 year million contract and then thinks he is the king of the streets and can punch and shoot whoever he wants. This story will keep around the Patriots fans and organization for years. The best way for this to finish is him being decent enough to hang himself to death.

Being a notorious killer in prison can have its downsides as other prisoners try to make a name for themselves...Ask Albert DeSalvo, Jeffrey Dahmer, Richard Loeb and others (if you could)

Hehe I would try. .it would basically be a quick window of opportunity and if I missed, I'd be dead
