2015 NFL Mock Drafts

I finally finished a 32 users draft game on an italian board. Here's the final result:

32. CB Kevin JOHNSON, Wake Forest
64. OG Tre' JACKSON, Florida State
96. DT Grady JARRETT, Clemson
97*. WR Tyler LOCKETT, Kansas State
101. RB David JOHNSON, Northern Iowa
131. NT David PARRY, Stanford

What do you think?

I can see something like that happening. I think CB in the first and OL in the second is looking more likely and I think a double dip at DT is possible too. I only have two doubts. Firstly, I think a taller WR is more likely, and secondly Johnson at 101 is unlikely. But that's a pretty good mock.

Damn good. Johnson likely gone before 32 from what most are saying. I'd take Peters if he's there because of off-field concerns or B. Jones. Lockett screams Patriot player if you've ever seen him interviewed.

32. I can live with that.

64. Would rather have Marpet if he's available.

96. Would rather have Hardison if he's available.

97. Only if he can play outside like DeShawn Jackson, Steve Smith, Antonio Brown et.al.

101. I can live with that.

131. Would rather have a DE/OLB like maybe Max Valles, Kyle Emmanuel or Frank Clark,
or a OLB/ILB like Ben Heeney, Jake Ryan or Davis Tull.

I wonder if he was smoking with DW Toys before this one but it's at least interesting

27 Shane Ray DE MO for 32 and our 4th.
64 Tre Jackson OL FSU
96 Ben Heeney, ILB, Kansas
97 David Johnson, RB, Northern Iowa
101 traded to Cowboys in the first round who took Malcolm Brown DT Texas which is as interesting a slide as Ray.
131 Garry Peters, CB, Clemson
178 Joey Mbu, DT, Houston
219 Mario Alford, WR, West Virginia
253 Cody Wichmann, OG, Fresno State

Interesting second round sliders and Jarrett above all of them.

Grady Jarrett 53
Gurley 55
Phillips 58
Goldman 59

Very nice mock. I like all the players you took. I am very shocked Johnson slid to 32.

Charlie Campbell has a 6 rounder out today. His usual couple of head-scratchers. But, some very good picks for us IMO.

1. J. Phillips - DT - Oklahoma Not terrible. But, Byron Jones is on board.
2. T. Jackson - G - FSU - Not bad.
3. D. Johnson - RB -N Iowa - Another decent pick.
3. T. Lockett - WR - K-St - Another good pick.
4. G. Wright - NT - Auburn - Meh
4. J. Coleman - CB - Tennessee - Meh
6. D'Andre Smelter - WR - Ga Tech - Manx commences to start doing the hokey pokey!

The problem with the Walter mocks is that they aren't anywhere near in sync with other prospect ranking sites. I would love to believe that the draft would fall their way rather than as Draft Scout and NFL.COM have them falling but believethe latter two are closer to reality. They way that Brugler and Jeremiah's mocks are going I would trade out of #32 if possible.

E.G.... Using a Walter mock I came away with the following using only players available at or after their picks. I only did their first six because I don't know that much about the back end of this draft.

#32-Byron Jones CB UCONN

#64-Hau'oli Kikaha OLB Washington

#96-Ali Marpet OG Hobart

#97-Tyler Lockett WR K State

#101-Buck Allen RB USC

#131-Marcus Hardison DT ASU

Nice dream, ain't happening.

Nice dream, ain't happening.

Independent of their availability during the draft lets not forget the thing that hurts most. Having your binkie available and the Pats passing him by for someone else. Anyway, still a couple of days left until the inevitable heartbreak of 2015.

Patriots did it to me last year with Moncrief, Bryant problems would of been solved.
I don't know how everybody missed the boat on Bryant and Coates has that kind of ability.
All he needs is the Jugs machine and some coaching but the upside is Sammy Watkins In the third or second round.
Last time the Patriots drafted my Binky it was Chad Jackson yes I went from jumping and calling all my friends bragging and buying every autographed Jackson item I could find to slowly and sadly realizing he wasn't going to make it with the Pats.

Honestly I'm torn between Coates and Conley in the Middle rounds.

I'm a Conley guy myself, they're a bit different.

Both do have some concerns over their hands though. Coates more physical and not as fast/athletic.

Conley just intrigues me more.

Final mock. This is my Patriots prediction - best guess

#32 - Byron Jones - CB - If he is there I honestly think he is the Pats choice. He can start in zone (which they want right now) and go to cover eventually (which they will want in the future). Backup pick: Eddie Goldman - DT

#64 - Grady Jarrett - DT - Seems like an option and the Pats could be looking for help here. I don't think they wait till later to address this need as it is pretty pressing. Backup pick: Eric Rowe - CB (some CB is gonna fall I will just pick this one).

#96 - TRADED FOR PLAYER - With the mayo contract restructure today I am fairly confident we trade one of our first 3 picks for a player. Probably a very good guard, CB or DT. I will say we trade for a pro bowl caliber guard with this pick (that a team does not want to pay for and that might be a bit older)

#97comp - Mike Davis - RB - We need help here. We will get it with s solid all around RB.

#101 - John Miller - G - Even if we trade for a starting Guard we still need another to groom.

#132 - Jamison Crowder - WR - Not the WR a lot of people wanted but do we need a big one? We have Gronk and now Chandler for long term. Lafell for 2 more years. I think they go for a smaller skill guy for good value. Crowder should not be here but he is 5'9 on a good day... so he might be. He replaces Amendola next year.

Edit: I'll include the last 3 picks though I doubt any make it.

#178 Taiwan Jones - LB - would be an absolute steal here and contribute as a 2 down role player incase of injury. If not pick Max Valles - OLB who has more talent but is more of a project.

#219 Shaquille Riddick - DE - at 6'6 244 he is undersized which is why he can fall this far. Take a shot on an undersized guy and hope he can put on weight and keep his speed. If he can could be a solid depth DE.

#253 John Lowdermilk - SS - Take a shot on a 6'1 210 pound safety. I was also thinking maybe Brian Blechen here (6'2 225) but in the end John got the nod. Looks like a good zone safety with decent coverage for a guy his size. Maybe pushes the back end of the roster for a spot.. maybe.

Here is my most recent Patriots mock, : http://ta1sports.com/2015/04/17/patriots-2015-nfl-mock-draft/

My strategy was to meaningfully address the Cornerback position, add quality talent to the offensive line, and find potential back ups/role players at the defensive line/linebacker positions.

Managed to find a quality RB and WR as well I believe.

Plan to write one more before the NFL draft, so all feedback is welcomed of course!

The trade for Marcus Peters is too expensive for my taste. This then in turn affects the availability of many "better" players in the remaining draft rounds..

That being said, I don't have an issue with trading up itself.. it is just that I feel we would overpay for Peters even though there are players with similar potential still on the board.
