Interesting Tidbit from Albert Breer about the Wells' Investigation Today (4/10)

"Was Dora the Explorer available for comment?"
Yes. She said "Swiper no swiping" about the NFL employee who was stealing the balls.

Haven't you heard? Doyel is just so terribly, TERRIBLY bored by this whole thing now.

That's Ok, I have got something way better for him to sink his teeth into. He can do some research into the greatest crime against the integrity of the NFL in the modern era. A few years back a team with a future hall of game QB lost him for the season and rather than find a suitable backup to make them competitive they embarked upon a season long quest to lose as many games as possible and thereby get themselves the first overall choice in the Draft and another franchise caliber QB. Unbelievable eh? Believe it, in fact to do so they literally passed on starting quality QBs available and made sure that only QBs who had no hope of winning were at the helm. In fact they were so brazen in their desire to be the worst team in the league that they even branded it SUCK FOR LUCK! They literally squandered the integrity of an entire NFL season and all of the results from it just so they could get their guy. Fans paid big money just to watch a team lose on purpose. WTF, is this the WWE? And across the league teams got to play them for easy wins that altered playoff scenarios and irreversibly altered all playoff results for that season. Might as well put a big old *beside the Lombardi winner.

There's a big old juicy story for Doyel and it's sitting right in his back yard and would win him award after award if he did it justice and told the story of THE GREATEST SPORTS CRIME EVER COMMITTED: THE STORY OF THE 2011 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Me neither. I'm in cautiously optimistic/wait and see mode. He might be another Incarcerated Bob in the end, but for now I don't mind reading what he has to say even if it's mostly because he's been one of the lone positive notes from the very start.

Yeah, exactly. I feel the same way.

He may/may not end up being right, and I was mildly annoyed that so many were taking some potential quack's tweets as gospel, but it has been great to see the backing of the team since day one.

Curran refutes Breer's opinion today.

They’ve talked to enough people. At the owner’s meetings, I asked someone who would know what the holdup was. They said, “You figure they’d talk to the backup quarterback, right? Well, they’re talking to the backup quarterbacks from years ago too.” I don’t know if that was apocryphal or not, but I’ve heard the investigators have been through Foxboro more than once. Anybody who touched the footballs or knows the people who touched the footballs has been subjected to metal chair under a single naked lightbulb-type questioning.

I honestly don't think there was ever anything to find. I hope they went to Green Bay to get an answer on Rodgers and him over inflating. That is the only admission so far.

Knowing the league's hatred of the Patriots, they will find a way to hit them for something.

I don't know how this refutes Breer's statements. Nowhere does Curran say they are not investigating the league or the Colts. Only that Wells is being thorough in interviewing everyone about everything. In fact, you can argue that this supports Breer's statements in that they are looking at everything with a fine tooth comb which means that they are going to look at everything from start to finish including the league and the Colts (Curran's source said they are looking at anyone who touched the footballs which means Kensil, the refs, the Colts' equipment manager, possibly Grigson). I think you can argue this helps to support Breer's assertion that there will be a significant portion about the league and/or Colts.

Curran really says nothing to confirm or refute Breer. In fact, he never addresses specifically where the league is looking into the League or the Colts. All Curran talked about is how deep they have looked at the Patriots. But based on Curran's comments, it is safe to infer that Wells is look at the league and Colts and everything leading up to the game carefully.

The only person this article refutes is Sharks of Vegas who maintains that the Wells report was always mostly about the league and the Colts which clearly isn't the case. I still expect a very detailed part of the Wells investigation dealing with the League and the Colts and what Kensil and Grigson knew and did prior and during the game. Curran kinda supports Breer on this.

BTW, based on the questions Curran lists in this article that he hopes the Wells' report answers, he is at least hopeful that Breer is right and the Wells did a detailed investigation on Kensil and Grigson.

If you read the quote, all Breer says is "I still think the key here is going to be..."

He doesn't say that anybody told him anything off the record. He doesn't say that he's expressing a widely held opinion among insiders.

He just says that this is what he "think."

We are free to invest as much or as little into those handful of words as we want.

Do we read them as the words of a man who probably knows what's going on and thus give them a lot of credence?

Or, do we read them as the words of a guy who is just saying what he thinks?

Since he says this in an offhanded way that would not embarrass him if what he says turns out not to be true, I tend to take the view that he's just telling us what he thinks and really doesn't know any better than anyone else what's going on, outside of the Wells' team. It's just an educated guess that we are free to consider, believe, discredit or ignore.

I really hope Curran is wrong about the league conducting an invasive colonoscopy of the entire organization because that would be ridiculously unfair. The investigation should be limited to information that directly pertains to the accusation of deflated footballs. Having the entire team's books opened up and scoured through with a magnifying glass is complete horses**t because of course they will find something wrong! They'll find out that on so and so a Tuesday in October Belichick had an off the books padded practice, or on so and so a Wednesday wrongly kept a guy off the injury report, or some other inconsequential and irrelevant thing like that. Little things that EVERY team does but because they apparently have the equivalent of an indiscriminate search warrant to investigate every single claim that any other team might want to slanderously accuse us of we get f**ked. It's like when when a cop pulls a guy over and oh so conveniently claims that he thought he smelled weed, giving him grounds to search the entire car for any excuse to nail the driver.

Are we guilty of knowingly tampering with the footballs beyond what is allowed by the current NFL regulations? If yes punish us. If no then leave us the f**k alone and stop this sorry excuse for a fishing expedition.

What else do you guys expect from a NY attorney?

Bill Nye the Science guy hasn't been interviewed to my knowledge :)

Are you serious, because he was. He's a freakin seahawks fan [his comedy show was based there]. He gave some lame condemnation of BB with no reasoning, then admitted he was all in on the hawks anyway.

I actually don't blame him. If I was a fake scientist and some ignoramuses wanted to interview me I would say the other side was all crooks and it was scientifically provable. Gotta route for the home team.

Uggghhhh.

You can't imagine how many times I've seen some Steeler fan idiot post this on their social media site. All I kept hearing and seeing that first week were articles about how "Bill Nye the science guy has proven the Patriots' guilt."

I don't mean to wish our exoneration for selfish reasons of my own, but boy would it be nice to throw some good news back in those Iron City beer drinking bastards' faces.

Right there with you, bud.

Think we can hire Matt Murdock as our defense attorney?

It was TIC but he hasn't been interviewed by Wells to my knowledge...He gave his "scientific" opinion to the press....but that being said it's like interviewing Mr Rogers to get his expert analysis on what a neighbor should be like.

Every scientist in the world could have backed BB's explanation (and practically have), but the haters will point out that one dissenting opinion as the ultimate proof of guilt.

That in and of itself is understandable, but the fact that he was basically joking and isn't even a real scientist made it unbearable.

If you don't think this:

but I’ve heard the investigators have been through Foxboro more than once. Anybody who touched the footballs or knows the people who touched the footballs has been subjected to metal chair under a single naked lightbulb-type questioning.

refutes that 'the investigation is taking so long because they are focussed on the colts and the league'
Then you simply are in denial and cannot admit you are wrong.
By the way, you need to hone your comprehension skills. The anyone who touched the footballs comment is in the next sentence and same paragraph as being in Foxboro more than once, so that is not about Kensil or the Colts, unless they flew to Foxboro,

I hope they finish this before draft. I will love to have 3 top 32 picks.
