What is your take on Malcolm Butler ?

he has a knack for making a play on the ball. and that's something you cant teach. Brady said Butler was ALWAYS picking him off in practice/making plays. He just needed an opportunity.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with Butler, but if a ref throws a flag for that trip there is a good chance we won't come back to win the game. I would not necessarily put that into the plus column especially because he got burned on that play and got away with it.

Ya gotta do what you gotta do. Kearse was going to make a big play. A penalty would have been preferable. Getting away with the trip was even better....

I think Butler will be a star. Extraordinary story. Seems like a good guy who's had some bad luck. I just hope all the fame is not too much of a distraction.

I never heard a plausible explanation for Butler's 4.6 combine 40 time. If it was injury, why wouldn't Butler have just called his agent and said, "you know, I was injured, let's re-measure it". Similarly if it was just a bad start. It's not like it's that hard to take a 40 reading, it takes 5 seconds (6 seconds in the case of Tom Brady).

One of the greatest of the Belichick genius stories.

The thing, who among us hasn't felt at one time or another that some grade or some evaluation or some award or whatever was unfair? It's just, most people don't have a Belichick willing to look behind the numbers and save the situation. For most of us, nobody cares, like in the Gray poem.

Read that his agent is a small town lawyer from down South who has repped exactly one player in his entire career: Malcolm Butler. Seems a safe bet that neither Butler nor his agent would have a clue about how to get a Mulligan on an NFL pro day clocking. Especially for an unheralded Div 2 guy who wasn't invited to the Combine and had a resume filled with JC highlights.

I agree, Butler will become a solid star. He hasn't really had bad luck, he's been a kid that has made his own luck, both good and bad. Seems like he has figured it out well enough to make the most of his chances this year, and sounds like he is smart enough and grounded enough to avoid being a flash in the pan. Let's hope so!

Awesome video for those who don't think Butler will make the team in 2015.

Is there anyone here on the forum who honestly doesn't believe that Malcolm Butler will "make the team" this upcoming season? I haven't seen one person suggest that, myself.

If he made the team last year as an unproven rookie with both Revis/Browner on the team, then I think it's rather safe to claim that he'll definitely be making the team this year with both of them gone, along with a proven year of progress under his belt.

Kid is fired up!*

*In the vid.

He's going to make plays in 2015 and we'll smile.

He's going to have blunders in 2015 and we'll have a hard time getting on him too much.

@MikeReiss: On Darrelle Revis departure, Chandler Jones said: "I know you guys only heard of Malcolm Butler during the whole Super Bowl thing...(1 of 2)

@MikeReiss: Chandler Jones: "Malcolm was making plays for us the whole season in practice...So I'm excited for him to step up as impact player." (2of2)

he makes plays

the only question is his ability in coverage as a full time player....he picks up on things very well....

crossing my fingers that he's the real deal...to me he appears to be so.

It been said, he made the 53 man roster. He played well during the season. BB knew the big play was coming and he put Butler in, that's confidence in Butler

My opinion he will get better. He is a keeper.?

No matter what happens Butler will be remembered forever in New England. I have a feeling this kid is going to be something special. If he keeps working and progressing he could be all pro material.
