What do you call a person who makes $44M a year and sucks at his job?

Answer = Roger Goodell

Seriously, I do not even generally get involved in the bashing of Goodell on this board, but how can someone making as much money as him take so long to do his job? You would think $44M would compensate you enough to provide some efficacy right.

Outside of the $50M Ian makes off this board I do not think many of us make anything close to that, but I ask you what would happen if it took you nearly 3 months to complete something at work? The draft is 3 weeks away, the JFK assassination remains is unsolved, worse than that deflategate is also unresolved, and Kraft has not even tampered with Muhammad Wilkerson yet…

WTF is going on?? I know suspending Blount and Bell for smoking weed was a more pressing matter but can we get these issues resolved before Brady's retirement?

Oh, I thought it was Peyton Manning including endorsements and his job is to win playoff games.

As much as I hate to admit it, our perspective of Goodell's efficacy is not relevant. We are not his employer.

He is only making $50M now? I thought he was racing LeBron James to the $1B mark.

Speaking of P61D, I was playing poker the other day with an older man that I know is a big time Manning fan, even though he's lived in this area his whole life. I always wondered why he disliked Brady so much, but then I realized that the man's a very active gambler. Imagine how much money he lost taking his hero Manning over Brady. It made a little sense then.

Well, in a slow time at the game I decided to ask Eddy something about his hero. I asked what he thought of Peyton tea bagging that young lady at Tennessee. He had no clue what I was talking about. I had to tell him what happened and how Peyton and his old man were joking about it in a book. Next week I'll find out if he cares.

Tom Cruise?

Average large corporation CEO?

It will become very relevant if enough people stop watching.

Goodell stands out in a bad way because the previous NFL commisioners/presidents served with distinction

  • Jim Thorpe - some say Athelete of the 20th Century
  • Joseph Carr - HoF
  • Carl Storck - couple of years
  • Elmer Layden - College HoF
  • Bert Bell - HoF
  • Austin Gunsel - shortimer
  • Pete Rozelle - HoF
  • Paul Tagiabue (nominated for HoF)
  • Roger Goodell

The recent issues with board knocked him out of that race..

You would think adding on an adult friend web site would have the opposite effect on revenue ;)

They won't.

Goodell defenders simply point to how much money the league makes as proof of what a great job he's doing.

I can't stand seeing this bungling idiot ruining the sport but I can't stop watching due to my love of the Patriots. It really sucks.

I want to give my answer but first I'm going to need to spend 3 months on an investigations to verify all the facts.

They might be working in a way to get brady and bb suspended for the season.

Considering the revenue of the NFL is just north of 8 Billion, Godell is GROSSLY overpaid. Most CEOs who run companies with similar revenue don't even make half that much.

Goodell answers to 32 employer-owners. only a handful of whom "really matter." So, I really don't waste my time calling him much of anything because of what he earns. I am, however, not happy about his allowing people like Kensil to work for him and carry out a vendetta against the Patriots.

If nothing changes, I suspect I will likely stop watching the NFL when BB and Brady are gone. I doubt I'm alone in that.

Technically, someone who grew up with a golden spoon and has been handed a high paying job on a silver platter because of it really isn't successful. True success is earned, not simply handed over. It also wouldn't surprise me if at least one member of this forum has made that much.
