Stevan Ridley signs with the Jets

Don't forget that BB would seemingly arbitrarily bench SR for games at a time. Maybe he was never quite Bill's cup of tea.

I'm not an Xs and Os guy, but it seems the BB's scheme for running is more reliant on the offensive line than who the RB is. Some of the best running games were with the jumbo package and featured a guy who was just fired (Blount) and a guy who was on the practice squad (Gray).

If what I just wrote has any truth to it (not sure it does), over investment in a superior OL is both imperative for protecting Brady the Elder and success in running, even it means JAGs at the RB position.

IMO.

F*** the Jets.

--oh yeah... congrats on the new contract, Riddley. Sorry its with the jest. Thanks for your hard work. Please fumble to us lots.

Gaffney is my binky this year. Hope he does better than some of my past binkies...

Ridley averaged 3.6 ypc last year and that's before he busted up his MCL and ACL.

For comparison, Vereen averaged 4.1 ypc........Blount averaged 4.7 ypc with the Patriots.......Gray averaged 4.6 ypc.

I welcome the extra compensatory pick! Hopefully the Jets overpaid as they normally do.

If it was after he busted up his MCL and ACL , it would be very impressive.

I'm just kidding. :p:p:p:p:p

Good luck to you with a losing team however your lucky that some team paid you for 1 year. No loyalty Ridley, bye bye

You want people to actually think before letting their knees jerk? Good luck with that.

Could mean he'd get the ball more.

not if they're trailing by multiple scores

Predicting 3.4 yds a carry against us with one garbage td and one forced fumble recovered by Hightower caused by Chandler Jones.
That's when on the occuring drive Julian catches a pass in stride with Revis playing off.
Julian makes a move which makes Revis slip Edelman blows past him stiff arms Cromaterie.
Gronk lays out the Safety and Edelman waltzes in the end zone from 56 yards.

You forgot the part where revis and cromartie blow out their acls in both knees on the play!

Have fun, Jesters fans, watching the Ridler dance to the LOS, turn his back to the defense, then fumble.

Ridley was a solid runner here. He was certainly better than Maroney. Captain Stone...cmon man! He rarely danced to the LOS. One of his best traits was getting the most of what was given. He was never an elite runner, but was consistently the best pure runner on the team.

If he played in the '11 SB do you think the outcome would have been different?

All that said...I wished him the best this season assuming he'd sign elsewhere. Now that he's with the jets...I hope he stays healthy b u t good luck with 9 in the box while geno us under center...

Compared to Maroney's last 2 seasons here, Ridley's first 2 seasons were a breath of fresh air.
His last 2 seasons, however, seemed less decisive and more tentative, due to his concussions maybe?
And there was that spin-o-rama move that never worked except to drive me nuts.

You must hate Blount then. Because Ridley is much better at finding and hitting a hole quickly.

Blunt is less likely to produce negative yardage, and maybe that's what Bill looks for in his bigger RBs, such as what Antoine Smith, Corey Dillon and Blunt (and Jonas Gray?) have given him.

I'd say just the opposite. With Blount you are more likely to get runs for negative or 0 gain then you are with Ridley, but you are also more likely to get that break out 40 yard rush.

I've never seen a game where riddley took over, and the other team avoided tackling him they way blount has at least 3 different times.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Ridley when he was here but was never a big fan. I like his style but he doesn't break any tackles whatsoever and it is strange because he has decent size. So basically I am glad the Jets signed him because he weakens them as far as I am concerned. He isn't as good as Ivory and offers almost nothing in the passing game.

Also keeping a guy like Ridley plays into the hands of a defense that plays bend but don't break. He offers very little chance of chunk plays and forces an offense to methodically go down the field. In his case, more opportunities to potentially fumble.

P.S. I am not piling on Ridley because he is a jet or because I liked Blount better. Hell, at times I think Blount completely ruins the flow of our offense if he isn't ripping off long runs. Blount is basically an all or nothing kind of running back sort of like Melvin Gordon.

ridley's ypc has gone down every year

Kid signed a 1 year deal, and decided it was a good time to cover his other forearm in a jets tattoo. I always heard BB liked smart players. maybe there is another reason hes gone.
