Blount Suspended for Season Opener

His tweet was something like it's crazy how fast people turn their back on you or something like that. He didn't handle the situation like Revis, that's for sure.

Yeah, hopefully he can turn his attitude and off field issues around, because I think he's got a shot to be an effective RB. At the very least, he should be able to contribute to our rotation for good value/cheap pact.

Barring a failed drug test (which Blount never had), how else can you punish him until he has at least seen his day in court to prove the actual charges took place?

The decision to suspend players who have yet to be charged come from serious violations such as domestic violence (suspected rape = Roethlisberger), some of which are multiple (again = Roethlisberger).

Look at Marshawn Lynch and his DUI case. He had played through 2 seasons without seeing punishment by continuously postponing his hearing/dates.

Ultimately, you're right that Goodell makes his own rules up as he goes along though.

It was implied I wasn't serious in the first place. His schedule of investigations and punishments is beyond me. How many years will they need to investigate football's in cold weather, i wonder?

I'd be interested if the only logical conclusion (lawyers run up billable hours) applies here, at least in the case of Ted Wells.

When you consider the fact that the Dolphins bullying scandal took about 3-4 more weeks than the point we're at now, it's not surprising to see this situation dragging out as well; especially since this one may actually include science and expert testimony/opinion.

I'm guessing that BOTH situations could have easily been handled in about a month--tops.

Couldn't put the blunt down d%#*!@t.

For an NFL player to have drugs in his car, or to travel with drugs in the car, is just plain stupid.

But how would said NFL player get his drugs from point A to point B? I guess they could hire somebody.

Since Blount and Bell have the day off, maybe they could hang out together, get some coldies, maybe some Doritos, a little xBox, maybe a blunt or two...

When are players given their SB rings? If it is at the first game, does Blount have to sit out the ceremony?

I hope he gets his ring with a Bob Marley t-shirt and a hat like this

Was watching Dan Patrick the other day. In an interview with a former Duke/NBA player (forgot name) had stated that numerous NBA players smoked pot "before" games. A little perspective of NFL players smoking pot after hours (not to mention, slightly more physically beat).

I have a friend that was on the soccer team in Highschool and they would apparently all blaze up before a game. ..

They went undefeated and won 3 championships in a row lol

It's probably taking so long because they're desperately searching for something to punish the Pats with..

The initial investigation probably only tool a week, but since it cleared the Patriots they've had to dig deep and get some dirt..

They get them before the season starts. In the past I believe it was at Krafts house. . I can't wait to see what they look like and how much cash he drops down on them

@dikembe cursed Blount because he wants Jones Gray to get more carries.

Again I didn't read all the posts, this happen off season before he played with Pittsburgh last season and then the charges were dropped so why suspend him now?

Why was this delayed this long? Blount should have been penalized while still in Pittsburgh..

I am excited as well

Gotta be the Steelers in our opener then. Weed Bowl I

The league generally waits for the legal system to resolve it's issue before weighing in on something like this. That didn't happen until the end of the season where a suspension would have meant in the playoffs.

Since the thread is about Blount, many ex-players on the University of Oregon football team (lost the championship this year) have admitted to smoking pre-game and pre-practice in various interviews.

I have no problem with people smoking weed but before any kind of physical activity it never worked for me, it makes you so relaxed that it's difficult to imagine any kind of boost.

Bell suspended for 3 games. Seems fair in regards to how Blount was punished.

Well, there goes one of the potential story lines of a Steelers-Pats Season Opener.

Maybe it will shift the balance towards the Eagles, with the story line "Can Crazy Chip beat Cheatin' Bill?"
