If we didn't win the Super Bowl, I know I would be considering this the off season from hell.

Considering we won, it has given me patience I have not had in recent year.

Although I am sure there will be at least one WTF "Tavon Wilson" moment during the draft, I am going to pay attention to the UDFA, like never before.

Thank you Malcolm Butler.

Big thanks to Tom Brady as well...

Absolutely !
Edelman & others too

So glad we won !
I know we are far from done, but winning sure helps my patience.

I agree.

One thing I heard is that this team will look different than last year's team.

Um, from 2003 to 2004 losing Ted Washington was huge. The 2004 team that replaced Ty Law with Earthwind Moreland looked as different from 2003 as this team from 2014.

For those of you still needing to be talked in off the ledge, I would recommend watching the second half of the SuperBowl again. I watched the entire game last night. Malcolm Butler made FIVE outstanding plays. I'm not talking good plays. I'm talking outstanding individual plays.

To produce like that, on the biggest stage... honestly, you have to pencil him in as a starting outside corner and be REALLY excited about it. In your wildest dreams, you wouldn't count on a 1st round draft pick coming in and playing like that as a rookie.

The tape doesn't lie.

The frustrating thing about being a Pats fan is that most of our future playmakers are virtually anonymous (not for long). It's how you fit a perennial winner under the salary cap. Getting big names is exciting, but the wins come from the jags and young uns that BB is able to coach up and into his system. Revis/Moss were examples of great deals that happen about once or twice a decade.

The draft hasn't happened yet, so sit tight. If, somehow, all of our picks fall out of our pocket before we get to the bank, I'll be biting my nails along with you.

Edit: semantics

Why? Because we did not pay a 30 year old corner some rediculous amount of money?

2013 was a much worse off season. We let Welker leave in March of 2013 figuring on AH and then We have to release him 3 months later because he likes to kill people.

Then we try out TBlow which causes a flurry of Tblow lovers to come to this site and act like idiots.

I will take this off season all day.

Belichick made the right call on Welker.

The jury is still out on Revis & the high mileage Welker can not be compared to losing Revis.

Ahhhh I seee but you conveniently leave out losing AH permanently when he was part of our 2 TE strategy. And they made the call on Welker because they knew they had AH.

And then Tblow? Like I said, that was not a good off season.

And whether or not the jury was in or out on Revis is irrelevant. They couldn't keep him anyway at the salary they would have had to pay to keep him from going to the Jets. And they shouldn't' have paid him. It would have hamstrung them this year and again when other key players were going to need extensions.

Most people who understand football get this. Its the whiny Madden guys who just dont get it. And quite frankly, the adults are tired of trying to explain it.

Yup. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow and I would still be cool with 2015 to date.

Thank you Malcolm Butler.

I literally chucked my TV out a 3rd story window in Feb. 2012. A 150 lb 40 inch tube TV.

Yes, I got evicted.

I'm better now, thanks Malcolm. :)

...or maybe a WTF Sebastian Vollmer moment, or a WTF Matthew Slater moment?

From how often Wilson is brought up as the poster child for Patriots drafting, I'm thinking he must have been drafted a dozen times. :)

Place probably sucked anyway. I bet you were better off getting chucked...:)

Or a WTF Richard Seymour,
WTF Logan Mankins, WTF Jamie Collins, WTF Devon McCourty?

After so many seasons watching BB prove himself right, and fans and media explode in rage over their infinite wisdom, I've learned there really isn't any point getting worked up about a Belchick off-season. He is planning and deciding matters on a totally different level than the rest of us.

:)

I was thinking that the deal the team got with Revis wasn't only great from a monetary and production standpoint. It also gave them a chance to have one of the top 3 CBs in the game in the facility daily practicing alongside the young guys, giving them the chance to emulate him and raise their game.

Looks like one of those young guys did just that. :)

this off season is a dream compared to the hernandez off season. nothing was worse then that off season.

I'am a loyal Belichick homer.

I've never minded when other posters criticize him. The man is human and he makes mistakes. I also fully understand and appreciate how much fun it is for us to play NFL GM. I do it too.

That said, what drives me to snark are the posters that criticize Belichick with such absolute conviction that they feel they can call him an idiot.

Let's just leave the "Bill knows more about football than any of us" card off the table. I get that its annoying (however extremely true it might be).

My point is that Bill and his scouts have MET and TALKED and been around these recruits. They've talked to their coaches, their parents, their teaches. The best that any of us have done is watch film on a kid. The rest of us watch Youtube and use Google.

Has anyone watched Hard Knocks and not come away with the feeling that you better understand and better know the players because you got a behind the scenes glimpse at them? I know I do. And what we are seeing on that show is a tiny, tiny window into what the coaches get to see.

Have any of us ever met Tavon Wilson? What kind of work ethic does he have? What did his previous coaches have to say about him? How smart is he? How fast does he learn? How teachable is he? Is he humble? Is he a prick? How well does he fit into the Patriot system? What would be his chemistry in the lockerroom? Is he a leader? Is he a good soldier?

And sure, sometimes I think that we amateurs can sometimes see more clearly than the professionals because we dont fall in love with a kid after having met him. We base our decisions almost solely on what we see on the field along with whatever off the field incidents might make the news.

Belichick emphasizes the importance of Special Teams more than anybody. As a previous poster usefully pointed out, Tavon Wilson has played more ST snaps than anyone else on the team. He is a core STer.

While I still think a 2nd round pick was too high for him. In the end, if Tavon Wilson is the worst that the wannabe GMs can point at Belichick and deride him for, I'm good with that.

It is more difficult to be a Pats Fan in March/April, it gets easier in Nov/Dec/Jan and sometimes February.

Do not lose hope fans, BB and his inner circle have done well by us for about 15 years now..

It is interesting to note the many draft pundits give the Pats very good grades in their drafting.. imo it has gotten better since Pioli left.. to point out less than successful anecdotal evidence if folly.

I'm glad that the 4th super bowl win, and 6th super bowl apperance, since Bill became HC in 2000 can let you give Belichick some slack for the way he manages the team.
