Jets Suck -- 2015 Edition (Official): Countdown to Oblivion

The division has tightened up.

Now the Bills and Dolphins will also be able to laugh at the JEST.

Decker was going to die no matter where he went once he left manning..could see that coming a mile away. Marshall will be the same way. With a good QB he is a great WR. But he will have to throw himself the ball this year to do anything

Oh look... Maybe slapping down huge money on a free agent who has scorned you in the past may have some consequences.

Wilkerson is saying to himself "so the guy that bailed for more money after multiple hold outs then goes and helps our most-hated rival win a SB that robs our fans of the ability to say "ZERO RINGS SINCE SPYGATE" gets rewarded with a gaudy contract. Meanwhile I've been here, slogging through losing season after losing season on my rookie deal?"

Players are emotional creatures. People forget this when they want the cap managed on a par with Madden 2005. That's why I'm glad the Pats manage the cap the way they do - keeping the impact on the locker room and the vets who have been here busting their asses for years in mind.

An often overlooked reason why teams like the Patriots, Steelers, and Packers don't to "Revis deals" is exactly this. It isn't just about the dollars and cents about whether you can make it work. It also has to do with the overall internal equity among the players themselves. If the Patriots start a precedent with full guarantees, other players will want it, and if the Patriots refuse, those players will feel disrespected.

The Denver Broncos are about to blow up because Elway made Aqib Talib, TJ Ward, and DeMarcus Ware among the highest paid, if not the highest, at their positions. These guys came from the "outside", so how do players who have already put in their blood and sweat feel? You have Julius Thomas (gone because he publicly admitted he would take no discount after he felt slighted during Elway's binge last offseason), Demaryius Thomas, Von Miller, etc. who are now not going to take anything less than a penny below top dollar if they are to stay with the Broncos.

Sometimes you need to look beyond the dollar and cents to consider whether or not it is a good deal to bring in a free agent.

I like the "emotional" explanation, and am busily concocting an internal monolog involving a "hate my hometown discount" when he jumps ship to NE...

Wilkerson is going to demand Suh type money. He won't get as much, but he wants in the ball park. And then Richardson will be coming up for a contract in a few years too. He is going to want top DT money too.
"We have the money now, let's just pay Revis whatever he wants! Ha ha, got you Pats!"

2 years later...
"Oh god, we're screwed, we still have to pay Revis this guaranteed money and now all of our own players who actually turned out decent want top dollar! But we don't have it now because we paid Revis! What do we doooooo?!!?!!"

I'll always think that Curtis Martin is a class act, but I did have to chuckle at his remarks this week that the jets are going to challenge the Patriots for the division this year.

His reasoning is that Brady won't be able to throw on Revis and Cromartie.

Like I say, I love Curtis Martin. But I'm starting to worry that there might be something wrong with his medulla oblongota.

I didn't know Revis and Cromartie would be locking down Rob Gronkowski and Scott Chandler. Brady's screwed.

We should all pray that Jameis Winston falls to the Jets in the draft and the Jets are stupid enough to take him....

That's what makes the Suh deal so crazy, no way in hell did Suh deserve that kind of money. Only JJ Watt deserves it.

It was great today ... Dale and Holley were interviewing Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello about his new contract. Well it came to pass that Rick acknowledged he was a Jet's fan ... so they asked him how that goes ... and he says painful ... very painful.

That combination gives me a headache just thinking about it -- baseball and the Jets. Ugh. Imagine if the Jets played baseball, that would be my idea of hell.

No professional football team that began play at the same time the Jets did in 1960 has fewer wins than the franchise formerly known as the Titans. In fact two others that were formed later have more victories than the Jets do.

Also, no other team that began play in 1960 or earlier has fewer playoff appearances than the Jets do; one team that was formed later has been to the post-season 13 more times and another has been to the playoffs eight more times.

The Jets have an all-time regular season and playoff record of 389-464-8.
By comparison the Patriots' all-time franchise record is 478-395-9.

If the Jets were to average three more wins than the Patriots every season (work with me and suspend rational thought for a few moments for this exercise), they would not have more victories than the Patriots until the end of 2044.

Only two NFL teams have fewer division titles than the Jets (4) do: the Jaguars, who began play 35 years after the Jets did, and the Texans, who began play 47 years after the Jets did.

Wilkerson is one of the few Jets I'd love to see in a Pats uniform.

I'll never forget a program on one of the channels before a game and it had an interview with Curtis Martin. One of the questions was why did he always play so hard against the Pats, and Martin replied that he wanted the Pats to see what they missed out by letting him go.

That interview was screaming for a follow up question complete with a picture of the three Lombardis....

"So Curtis, how often do you think about what YOU missed out on by leaving the Pats"?
