Back-Up and Running

I got something similar to the Plesk thing yesterday... not today though.

And the adult friends started visiting my iPhone over the weekend. Not cool. Now THAT's fixed too. That's gotta be a huge headache, Ian. Thanks for all your efforts.

That's really odd. Try also going to Start > Accessories > Command Prompt and then at the prompt type in:

ipconfig/flushdns

to clear out your DNS cache.

Hopefully that will take care of it.

OMG was that why that adult friend finder thing kept popping up? I thought I had a virus of some sort.

I dug through every folder and didn't see anything malicious, but I narrowed it down to where I think it was and deleted the location it was under.

With the lag, problems posting, etc, I had a PHP upgrade done on the server but because of that there were literally hundreds of files from when the site was launched back in 2000 and up until about 5 years ago that were outdated and had to come off before I could bring it back up. Needless to say, that's is why I had to shut everything down yesterday while I was doing so. So I pulled everything off and deleted all the folders, and then had to re-import a lot of things one-by-one, which took quite a while and didn't finish until around 11pm last night, which was when I was finally able to get started.

I did a fresh re-install of the files for the forum and I'll be putting everything back together in terms of the header, etc. as well as the other files outside of here and I'll start restoring the remaining files tonight when I get home. I ran out of gas last night unfortunately, but I should be able to make a lot more headway tonight.

Now we need Dikembe to christen the site.

I must apologize for my lack of savvy here, but I don't know what this means. If you can tell me where "Start" is in the Firefox commands, that might help.

Again, still getting Plesk server default page from Firefox. Only access to this site is by manually typing in www.patsfans.com and signing in each time with username and password.

LOL, sorry, I meant the "Start" button on your Windows menu, or are you on a Mac?

I'm on Mac, the only choice for civilized Americans. That must explain our impasse. Do I need to quit Patsfans? Any translation to Macspeak would help.

Ah, then I'm unsure of how to clear out the DNS cache on one of those

Delete your old bookmark for Patsfans.
Come here the way you have.
Create a new bookmark.

I just changed a setting - try it now and see if it works.

For some reason at my job yesterday, I got as much work done as I typically do in a week.

Hit the Apple icon upper left
Select Preferences
Hit the Network icon
Select Advanced
Select top DNS tab
Use the minus button to delete your DNS
Type in 8.8.8.8
Hit OK

I won't miss the Adult Friends. My computer is right next to the TV and the first time it came up it was right in front of my wife and son. I scoured my PC looking for problems before I saw that it was only happening when I hit the Pats Forum tab. I contacted Ian and am glad it was not ignored.

First time for me was with guests at my house as I was showing them Patsfans and what a neat site it was. Fortunately, the couple has a great sense of humor. I however am forever the butt of jokes.

Then again, I was wi-fi in at a table in a coffee shop with the line for ordering snaking around my table when my adult friend popped up. Women in line stopped talking (there's always a silver lining) shaking their heads.

I cannot access the sub forums, for example the Draft forum, from my smartphone. Can open and see threads from the main forum. Any thoughts?
