Seriously...why is it taking so long?

I'm SO confused.
It's schizoid. Are we supposed to be discussing Deflategate here in Patsfan Siberia or in the threads on the main page now?
Why did this topic ever get moved here?
Because every single thread during those two weeks was about this and not the super bowl

At his press conf today Wed 25 March corporate tool Roger Goodell said there's no timeframe for the Wells report because we want to get it right.

Roger's going to get the tamper issue resolved first and the Jets will get minimal punishment, then when the outcry of foul ensues he will hammer NE on the football issues to drowned out the injustice immediately. His former Jets assembled LO staff will be exhonerated and the lack of control of the leaks eminating from that office will be forgotten.

He can then sit upon his throne of self-righteos hypocrisy and use the Patriots as his personal crusade of maintaining the leagues "integrity". Gone from the mind will be his mishandling of the Ray Rice fiasco and he can still hold Peterson and Hardy accountable for his own past mistakes. He screwed up and what better way to save face than shift the focus on the much maligned world champions as everything that's wrong in the NFL.

Goodell has the power, and we are his own personal trump card and fall guy to take the light off him and shine it elsewhere. What many don't realize is this is not a judicial system. He is not bound by a burden of proof. These are suspected corporate violations and can be misrepresented and misinterpreted in any way deemed applicable to protect the interest of the corporate office and their own personal agenda. This is why no decisions have been made.

Let the media pons take the hit, corner those who've been weakend and throw them a scandal to revive their image. The puppet master is orchestrating the play and guiding his audience towards the Oooh and Ahhh!

11 Things That Took Less Time Than the NFL's Deflategate Investigation

It's been more than 60 days.

Thursday marked the day the NFL's quest for truth, justice and/or a scapegoat for whatever the Patriots did or didn't do with the footballs used in the AFC Championship Game officially passed the two-month mark.

Leading up to Super Bowl XLIX, attorney Ted Wells indicated that the league's investigation was expected to go on for "at least several more weeks." Over that time, it's faded from our collective consciousness quicker than Katy Perry's Left Shark.

The Pats were initially accused of using anywhere from one to 11 deflated footballs. The league's thorough investigation into whether they intentionally tampered with the footballs began in earnest on the night of Jan. 18, immediately after the Pats' 45-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC title game.

To show just how absurdly self-important the NFL has become, here are 11 real world events that took less time than the Deflategate investigation:

Bill Belichick - HC of the NYJ
: Belichick may have had the shortest reign of terror, or perhaps "error" since we're talking about the Jets, in NFL history. Belichick was named head coach of the Jets in January 2000, after Bill Parcellshad resigned. A day later, when the media gathered for his introductory press conference, the Hoodie announced he was stepping down. He eventually ended up in New England. It's all good.

President Harrison's Administration: William Henry Harrison delivered a two-hour speech at his inauguration on a windy, overcast day in 1841. Three weeks later, after working nearly non-stop, he became ill. A cold evolved into pneumonia and pleurisy. And 30 days, 12 hours, and 30 minutes after he took the oath of office, Harrison was dead. If he had lived another four weeks, he still wouldn't have made to the end of the Deflategate investigation.

The Fastest Run Across America
Yep, there's at least one person who ran across the entire continental United States in less time than it's taken the NFL to investigate Deflategate. American Frank Giannino Jr. holds the current Guinness record, having run from San Francisco to New York in 46 days, 8 hours, and 36 minutes back in 1980.

Germany's Invasion of France: On May 10, 1940, the Germans launched a multi-faceted invasion of the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. Four days later, the Netherlands fell. Thanks in large part to relentless bombing by the Luftwaffe, and a successful armored attack through the Ardennes Forest, bypassing the Maginot Line, Paris fell on June 25. That all took six weeks. Deflategate is on Week 8.

The Fastest Sailing Trip Around The World: British sailor Brian Thompson and his crew guided their 131-foot boat the Banque Populaire around the world in 45 days, 13 hours, 42 minutes and 53 seconds back in 2012. They broke the previous record by three days. They received the Jules Verne Trophy.

The NBA Coaching Records of Magic Johnson and Jerry Tarkanian: Magic was hired to coach the Lakers in March of 1995. He won his first game as head coach, before losing his next five and announcing he would leave after the season. The Lakers finished 5-11 during Magic's brief time on the bench as coach. Tarkanian coached just 20 games with the San Antonio Spurs in 1992. He was fired after compiling a 9-11 record.

The Whitey Bulger Trial:
It began with jury selection on June 13, 2013. It ended 61 days later with his conviction on 11 counts of murder, along with multiple counts of extortion and racketeering. As of Friday, Deflategate will be on Day 62.

Celebrity Marriages: Lots of people you probably never heard of, along withDennis Rodman, got married but didn't stay married for very long. For the record, Rodman was wed to Carmen Electra for nine days in 1999 before he filed for annulment, saying he was of "unsound mind" when he spoke his vows in Las Vegas. Their divorce was finalized a few months later.

The Third Season of "House of Cards:" President Frank Underwood returned to Netflix on Feb. 27. By now, if you're a fan of the show, you've already gotten through all 13 episodes of Season Three. Binge-watching is changing the way we watch TV, in the same way that cable, satellite, and online streaming has changed what we watch. No spoilers here, save for my new favorite slogan of the Underwood campaign: "You are entitled to nothing." Use that line on the crybabies from Indianapolis and Baltimore when this charade turns up nothing, and they're still screaming for vengeance against Brady, Belichick, and the Patriots.

The Papacy of John Paul I - The "Smiling Pope" left a positive impression on the Roman Catholic Church, despite reigning for just 33 days before his untimely and tragic passing on Sept. 28, 1978. The reign and death of John Paul I is shrouded in false narratives, misinformation, and myth. Sort of like something else we know.

104.1 Inches Of Snowfall In Boston: Nearly all of Boston's record-breaking snowfall this winter has been dropped on the city since Deflategate began.

Since then, more than 8.6 feet of snow has buried Boston, its people, and their patience. As the snow fell. Deflategate dragged on, and on. You wanted a thorough investigation, well you got it. More than 104 inches of snow worth of investigation.

Thankfully, the snow seems to be melting a stable clip. Eventually, there will be bare ground everywhere, from Fenway Park to your lawn. The sun will shine brightly and warm your face, you may even go to the beach.

But don't count on Deflategate being settled by then.

After all, Deflategate is wicked important.

Chiuba, great list.

Here are my offerings:

Writing, amending, voting & passing, by both US House & Senate, of the USA Patriot Act:
342 pages, that amended 11 acts, 10 Titles, 108 USC sections and created 8 USC sections.
Began 9/12/01,
passed into law Oct 24, 2001
Duration: 6 weeks

Of course, it’s much easier to pass this kind of “change our whole way of living” legislation if none of the Senators or Congressmen bother to READ it first.!
__

The “Soccer War” between El Salvador & Honduras.
Start: 14 July 1969
End: 18 July 1969.
Total duration: 100 hours.
People killed (both sides): ~3,000.
__

Apollo 13
Explosion: April 13, 1970, 3:08 UTC, 174,000 miles from earth, on the way to the moon.
... To The Moon!!
... The FRIGGIN' MOON!!!
Travel to the friggin' moon, around it & back to earth, then
splashdown: April 17, 1970, 18:08 UTC
Total duration from explosion to splashdown: 87 hours.

Time allotted for University of Toronto engineers to figure out brand new, never before conceived method to separate Service Module from Command Module just before re-entry: 6 friggin’ HOURS.
Computational power available to Toronto engineers: 6 slide rules.
Consequences of a wrong calculation: Command Module burns up on re-entry. Everybody dies. Much sadness.
Result of their calculation: We've all seen the movie.
__

Operation Desert Sabre (Ground operations of US & Coalition forces against Iraq’s forces in Kuwait).
Start: 24 Feb 1991
End: 28 Feb 1991
Duration: 100 hours.
Single largest, most lopsided military victory in history.
__

Of course, none of these events have the PONDEROUS SIGNIFICANCE to human history carried by the non-mysterious reduction in pressure in an NFL football by 1.4 psi …

The amount of time this is taking is obscene.

In January, this seemed like the single most important issue in the history of humanity. Now, most casual observers wouldn't even be capable of precisely recounting the events that surrounded this awful, awful travesty. What is that website that gave me tips about how to talk to my kids about this ?

by friday I betcha

Does the decision come tomorrow? It's April Fools

This is how I think it will play out..

The Wells report will be released to the NFL and the public first.
There will be no punishment for anyone involved until the details are revealed and the NFL (and public) get to digest the 3000+ pages on what happened in this "scandal". The scope of information published, along with the level of public outrage (or lack thereof) will determine what, if any, punishment occurs. The new NFL has to wait until the dust settles before they make a judgement. That way they don't have to backtrack and look even more stupid/incompetent.

If it's clear the Pats did nothing wrong, they will not be sanctioned. If the report contains zero information about the sting/smear operation from the Colts/Ravens then again, without facts and inevitable outrage there will be no punishment. If it comes out that the Pats were trying to get footballs slightly out of spec into the game (like Aaron Rodgers admitted). In that situation I could see the equipment violation fine being enforced (and I'd be pissed). I'll be very interested to see the scope of the report and what it covers regarding the accusations against our team. Because I believe there was clear intent to besmirch the Patriots.

I think the report will be out this week, or very soon after. Then it could be potentially another couple of weeks before any punishments get levied.

So it's a public trial? Pretty ****ing absurd even if it is Goodell.

Agreed, but I'd rather it this way than NOT releasing the report to the public. I have no idea what order any of this will play out. I'm only guessing it'll be simultaneous (or close enough) to the NFL and public because of Jetdells comments about it. He already has a recent history of matching punishment severity to the attention and outrage a violation gets... or changing it after the fact: Ray Rice.

What are you talking about?

We've ALREADY had 72 days of a public trial!!!!

Haven't you seen the judgements of Justices Brunnell, Carter and Warner?

Not to mention the "expert" and flawed testimony of Mr. Nye and Degrasse-Tyson?

.

It such a colossal waster of money man, it's absolutely ridiculous.

I know this sounds odd but all the money that was spent, millions of salaried dollars, could have gone to inner city youth programs or something useful in life. Instead it drags on and people are getting paid very handsomely for an investigation that should have taken all of two weeks.

The real investigation should be on running an efficient NFL business...money is being throw away just because they have lots and that is the wrong reason.

FWIW, Breer tweeted that nothing will be coming out of the NFL on Deflategate today.

Did that tweet come from his phone or his ass?
