Reiss expects Pats to be fined-deflategate? No farking way

Believe what you want, it's a free country and I am sure there are people here that believe that all Kraft's assertions of support for Goodell are part of a secret behind the scenes strategy that result in a just result for the Pats. Let me just say that anything Kraft has done either openly or behind the scenes has had zero positive effect on the reputation of the Pats. This is not assumption this is fact. If you don't believe me, just read Reiss's column or live like I do outside New England. Frankly, I don't really care how profitable the NFL or Pats are and how much Kraft is responsible for that. What I respect is an owner that supports without prodding and hesitation the employees that are responsible for the on field success are more important than than the POS commissioner or his financial partners. Maybe then he would realize who the schmuck really is.

Don't mean to interject into your discussion/disagreement with others. I just wanted to agree with you on one general point you wrote: "What I respect is an owner that supports without prodding and hesitation the employees that are responsible for the on field success".
Amen to that brother! A manager succeeds in the right way only by picking a good staff, a staff that faithfully produces, and returns that loyalty to his/her staff by backing them up just as faithfully. This is, essentially, in the corporate world, the question of productivity versus stock price. While more financial successful may or even will be gained by putting stock price first, at its heart it's a Faustian deal.

On the general discussion of "Deflategate": Given the ridiculous misproportion of the whole situation from day 1, given that it is approaching absurd in the length of time taken to crack this extremely intricate, 'who killed Kennedy' case, chances are tangibly good that the final stage of this will play out in a way similar to Taylor being dragged in front of the Minister of Science(who is also the Chief Defender of the Faith) to explain the truth of the science, only to have his ass kicked for the truth speaking contrary to the faith.

If proportion meant anything whatsoever, given how damn stupid the whole thing became, I think Wells' report should be read with a canned laugh track playing in the background, with it saying "deflategate was due to Colonel Mustard using the candlestick from the library", then "we are recommending the NFL fine Mark Brunell for being the world's most genuine dipsh!+".

Steve Bornstein...President and CEO of the NFL Network and is also the National Football League's Executive-Vice President of Media.
He was born and raised in Fair Lawn, New Jersey to Julian Leon and Marge Frankel Bornstein, as the youngest of four (Fred, Andy, and Faye).

ain't that sweet? the biggest media mogul of the past 20 years playing 2nd in command to ol' riotous Rog. How many times over how many years have we all wondered what the hell ESPN has against the Patriots with their constant unprovoked media attacks spreading lies and innuendo?

Fairlawn, New Jersey. The HEART of Jet fan land. Nah, no agenda carried by Steve...he's a Bears fan, right?...or maybe a Bengals fan since that's the area he went to college in. Right. Got it. From when he was a little boy..."Daddy, I like the Bears!".."well,son, that's great...lots of Bears fans here in FAIRLAWN NEW JERSEY" said NO ONE EVER.

Go right down the list of these NFL power brokers...prominent distinct roots in NY/New Jersey...but don't let that get in the way of claiming their agenda is "pure as 24 karat gold!". Every one of these NY metro jerks were born and raised with anti- Boston agendas and everyone knows it. They hate us and we hate them...always have. They pander to their 11 million fan NY media market and will continue to unabated. They are determined and have set up their heirarchy to fully implement their future aims of a NY metro centric empire of "champions". New England MUST BE removed from this perch atop the AFC East for their plans to bear fruit.Make no mistake about it, a Jet SB run and win would be the treasure bath of the century for every one of those "Super NY Seven".

By the way, just try to find any REAL information about Grubman pre-Naval Academy, like where he was born and raised. Seems the net has been sterilized of all information except this little tidbit, he's Ashkenazi. Where is the predominant population of Ashkenazi in the US, at over 50%? The NEW YORK METRO AREA.Take a gander at Grubman's work history and connections...

Eric Grubman
Executive VP, finance, strategic transactions, NFL

Last year Grubman’s name was mentioned frequently as the media speculated on who could be the next NFL commissioner but Grubman had taken himself out of the running early on. Grubman earned a fortune at Goldman Sachs, where he brokered the sale of the New York Jets and the expansion Cleveland Browns. He went on to run Constellation Energy before being hired by Tagliabue in 2004. Grubman’s stint at the NFL was probably too short for him to think he had a chance at the top dog slot. Nonetheless, he has risen quickly into the upper ranks of 280 Park Ave.

C'mon...LOOK at the lineup Kraft is facing. The Pats are already tried ,convicted, found guilty and only await execution. There was NEVER any kind of unbiased investigation of "deflated balls". THESE GUYS set the whole thing in motion at some board meeting on Park Avenue as soon as the playoffs started and informed Kensil he would be walking point...and this is where we are today, awaiting a "decision" that is ludicrous on its face, sitting here in a room plastered with kangaroo wall paper.

Joker, I mean this in the most non-insulting way possible. But have you ever considered prescription medications?

I've been accused of insanity and worse since 2006. YOU can believe in the tooth fairydell and the idea that the business of the NFL is the only one in the world that is pure and incorruptible. I don't live on Sunnybrook Lane next to Rebecca.

Famous quote from Catch 22.........(one of my all time favs)

"The bureaucratic gymnastics and mealy-mouthed doublespeak we listen to as it pertains to New England reminds me of a line in the classic “Catch-22” by Joseph Heller: “Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you.”"

If it takes this long...they have 0 evidence..none

Something tells me that Ted Wells isn't exactly putting in 60 hour weeks on this ;)

As someone else mentioned, he was still hired by Goodell and the NFL, so it's quite possible they have had some type of rough estimate target date in mind the entire time.

I don't think the NFL wanted this to overshadow the SB, free agency period, or owner's meetings, so it kind of narrows the window between last week (owner's meetings), and the draft. In other words, sometime in April.

Unless Wells was hired by Kraft, which is a very likely possibility.

The Warren Commission took ten months to determine the cause of the Kennedy assassination and they had a lot more stuff to make up than Wells does.

That would be arguably the least intelligent decision Bob Kraft has ever made.

Sorry to disagree. Kraft hiring Bobby Grier as GM was the worst decision he made other than Goodell as commissioner.

This is a sore spot and a what might have been...

Grier was hired because he was not part of the Parcells entourage. What he should have done was put Charley Armey in charge of the whole shootin' match.

Instead, Armey goes to the Rams and runs college scouting and pro personnel. Trades for Faulk, finds Kurt Warner, drafts Torry Holt and wins a SB.

The ironic thing as you stated, Kraft could have hired BB as head coach then in addition to Armey as GM to replace Parcells. Instead he hired a historically bad GM in Grier who even with extra first round draft picks could find a good player to save his life. BB had to totally clean house of his players when he took over.

And we can only hope Wells' conclusion is a bit saner than what the Warren Commission determined.

One of the least examined outrages against the Pats is the charge, of the Pats taping the Rams pre-game walk through, two days before the 2007 Superbowl. Tomasse's involvment is well-chronicled, but it seems short shrift has been given to the original report that Tomasse ran with.

Didn't that originate out of NY?

Imagine the chagrin that would be caused to New Yorkers if the Pats had gone on to beat Giants and become the first, and only, 19-0 team ever.

The camel was already overburdened, and it may have only taken one more straw to break his back.

Not sayin', just sayin'.

The AFC title game was in mid January. It is now the end of March. The NFL is treating this whole situation lime a f#cking matter of national security. They (everyone included - goodell, wells, Kraft, pagano, harbaugh, irsay etc) need to get the F over themselves and realize how f#ckin petty and stupid this whole situation really is. Anyone who owns a vehicle knows that changes in temp cause air to dissipate from a car tire; same with a football.
Frankly I'm f#cking sick of coming g to this thread looking for news and there is none - cmon goodeel, wells - sh#t or get off the pot...this isn't the 9/11 investigation...

Could not agree more. As I have posted a few times. This all boils down to self preservation for Goodell and self image for Kraft.

SpyGate is long gone. Goodell was king of the hill back then. Kraft kowtowed on that ruling. Since he has taken a strong power stance this time the ruling will have to show respect to Kraft's stand. This is between the Pats and NFL front office. No other owners aside from Irsay will want anything to do with this.

Reading between the lines of Kraft's and Goodell's statements recently. Kraft suggests no wrongdoing on Pat's and support for Goodell but not rest of front office.

Goodell totally trying to separate himself from this mess. Their will be a fall guy in front office with a change in policy on ball security from here on out.

Tired of hearing that Goodell will treat Kraft just like in SpyGate ruling. I call BS on that. Goodell had the swag back then to do that. This time he trying to secure his employment.

No fine. New rules for ball security. Goodell will not need to apologize because wrongdoing will point elsewhere. Now they are trying to find the perfect time to release statement before the draft.

I hope your belief in the influence of Kraft to make Goodell to do the right thing is well founded. I disagree and we will see who is right. In the big picture what happens is irrelevent, Kraft will come out of it fine because he makes money for his beloved partners and the Pats reputation is already irrepairably damaged and has been since 2007 by the big capitulation. One other point Goodell can't use the " I am not responsible for what happens in my office"excuse after the Rice fiasco. He will look even more ridiculous and impotent than he already does and the media will chew him up.

Also, I think people are reading too much into Kraft's "no smoking gun here" statement the other day. I take that to mean "we didn't tamper with the balls and they won't find otherwise". Not "the league will issue an explicit, unequivocal exoneration and there won't even be a fine."
