Is it September yet?

There's a nip in the air... the days seem about the right length... can it be football now?

38 is so underrated. Amazing game.

I just voted about 50 times in a row, and when I clicked on the site again, it had moved from 50-50 to 49-51! "Do your job" and vote! http://www.nfl.com/bracketology

It's basically just a popularity contest between us and the Steeler fans.

If we end up moving on, the competition will be....another Steelers game, in the SB from 2008 where they defeated the Cardinals.

But if you're being objective, it really shouldn't even be a question of what is the greater game. The nfl.com authors themselves believe that SB 49 was a much more entertaining and dramatic sports event.

Super Bowl XIII vs. Super Bowl XLIX

The fourth round showcases the No. 3 seed Dynasty Makers (Super Bowl XLIII:Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Dallas Cowboys) against No. 3 Crazy Endings (Super Bowl XLIX: Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots).

Pittsburgh became the first franchise to win three Super Bowls after its 35-31victory over the Cowboys, and there was no shortage of Hall of Famers in this who's who Super Bowl matchup. Yet the game wasn't as dramatic as Super Bowl XLIX. The momentum shifted like a seesaw throughout the Seahawks-Patriots tilt, and the outcome suddenly made the University of Phoenix Stadium crowd and the rest of the world expert offensive play-callers.

Winner: Super Bowl XLIX

I'm curious to know guys....has there ever been a bracketology contest on the best Pats win in the Brady-Belichick Era? If not, then maybe we should do something like that on this forum.

A little bit of old school love please.......at least for some patriots all time great games.

Pats -- Jets / Raiders / Dolphins playoff wins, on the road, during the run up to the dabear blow out.

AND the 1963 team without a crown that won a huge playoff game, against Buffalo , again, on the road, before getting killed by the chargers.

Funny thing....other than those two seasons, there simply wasn't anything else until the 96 GB Super Bowl season & loss -'home wins against steelers and jay should be considered.

I had considered mentioning the 3 road PO wins of the '85 Pats, especially when considering the opposition: Jesters, Raiduhs & Doofins, the 3 teams we would've enjoyed beating the most. (Does anyone else remember the downtown Jordan Marsh, on the ground floor in the Men's section of which the 3 PO wins were constantly shown on a TV installed during the run-up to the SB?)

And you're right that the home PO win in '96 v PitsDirt was historic: first home PO game since 1978,
first home PO win…ever?

That was the fog game, correct?

You don't have to convince me. I agree with you that SB49 is far and above anything else, but seeing as how our "competition" is against both the Steelers now, and potentially the Steelers if we move on, I'm not expecting much.

In the end, these things are ultimately decided by popularity contests, which ruin it for everyone.

Well hey, I say screw it...let's make our own bracket contest. Best Patriot win of all time of the Brady-Belichick Era (going on 14 years) !!!!! Besides, we need something positive to pre-occupy us during the offseason.

(I'll talk to Steve and Ian to see if we can get this going for real, provided there's enough support.)

If that's a chronological list, Eli might be playing for a wild card... motivation can be a mothrafrocker!

looks like steeler nation is doing their job. they are on both sides of the bracket......

I don't believe it chronological, but you're absolutely right. Eli Manning is the most unpredictable quarterback in the NFL. When he's on a hot streak, he's playing like an "elite" quarterback. But when he's on a losing streak, he plays like Tim Tebow. But Eli's whole legacy is predicated on being Tom Brady's kryptonite - and no matter how badly he plays (he's been downright putrid these past two seasons) people will always hold that against the Pats.

That's why I feel that the stakes are high for the Patriots. I'm not expecting a complete blowout, but Brady has to win this one. He already has a 1-2 losing-record against Eli Manning. I believe his GOATness is well-secured and solidified, but if he doesn't beat Eli, then that part of his legacy will be highlighted by the haters.

Superman has to overcome his kryptonite. Brady has to beat Eli - and do so convincingly.

Dude... Belichick always had a hard time beating Shanahan back in the day. It's okay. That doesn't make Shanahan the "real" best coach... it just made him a tough out for Belichick.
