The delay might be coming from our globe trotting QB

Nope, the delay is the NFL wants to dump this during easter weekend when everyone is with family and paying attention to the final four.

you mean it's Stupid Goon 3, Mitch?

could be, but where are the death threats against Brady and the "die in a fiery crash!!" wishes for all Patriots fans?

Shouldn't be an issue. I thought the NFL has offices in every country to accommodate R. Stokoe Goodell's quest for world domination.

Think this through and tell me how the Patriots within NFL regulations could have taken NECESSARY steps to see that the footballs were "maintained"?
Are you aware that they are not allowed to do anything with the balls after the refs accept them except transport them to the field? The field where the laws of physics rule,
I'm gobsmacked that after 400 posts explaining the impossibility of conforming to NFL regs as written some folks obtusely insist that the Pats are guilty of negligence or some undefined infraction.

Yep, this is where I'm at as well. I'm tired of explaining that you cannot be held accountable for something you are literally barred from maintaining. The Patriots are not allowed to check or alter game balls at any time once the referees have approved them, and saying they have to stay within a prescribed range when the laws of nature dictate they will change and then fining a team if they don't make as much sense as fining a team for allowing the temperature to go above or below league standards. The Packets will be fined and will lose a draft choice because temperatures at Lambeau dropped below 24 degrees during their game with the Cowboys and the Dolphins will be fine and lose Draft choices any time temperatures at their stadium goes over 80 degrees.

LOL.

The NFLPA advised Brady & the team not to discuss the balls w/ the league. This was back in January so not sure now?

Are all Pat fans this kind of clueless homers?

The endless conspiracy theories. The absurd claims that weather makes air disappear. You all sound like teen age love struck girls, making excuses for a boyfriends bad behavior.

Have any of you ever heard of Occam's Razor?

Fact: the Patriots are the only NFL team who have been docked two first round draft picks for breaking the rules.

Fact: the Patriots have been fined more than any other NFL team for breaking the rules.

Fact: the Patriots have prompted more rule changes, to close grey area loopholes than any other NFL team. Just this year there were two. The NFL needs a spotter now because the Pats didn't pull Edelman after everyone in the world knew he was concussed? Oh right he "passed" the concussion test. Yet they will dump him in a heartbeat next year when he is no longer useful. It's the Patriot way.

Fact: the Patriots are the only NFL team to have a player commit multiple murders while on the active roster.

And what are your usual retorts? Haters gonna hate. Sour grapes. Kensil is out to get the Pats. Goodell hates the Pats. The Ravens are whiners, it's Irsay's pill addiction. The Jets are rats. Everyone does it. BB is just smarter than everyone else.

Okay ban me now for trolling.

Sorry the team you follow sucks, but I'd probably have more success toilet training my dog, than refuting any of your drivel and having it get through to you.

On second thought, my dog is a smart breed, so I'd definitely have more success teaching her.

Exactly. What is so hard to understand about this?

The trouble with this situation is that Goodall is trying to make amends for mishandling the three domestic abuse cases. He has to issue
severe punishment on all other cases to make up for them.

No, he doesn't. Neither one will reflect on the other in the court of public opinion.

Here's my take on how Goodell can have his cake and eat it too. This makes the unwarranted assumption that there are folks in the NFL front office with 3 digits in their IQ who can create this canard.

<Intro. Self serving platitudes. Thoroughness of the investigation. Integrity of game>

In conclusion we can find no direct evidence that the NEP tampered with the game balls. We do recognize that the laws of physics dictate some loss of psi from a drop in temperature. However, there was one occasion where a Patriots employee had possession of the balls away from the cameras. (Some geezer like Ken receiving prostate pressure. But I digress...) Since our league representative on the sideline verified that one ball was inexplicably low, the only reasonable (sic) conclusion is that the NEP are responsible for mis-handling of equipment and we fine them $50,000. They are on notice that no further deceptive practices regarding game equipment will be tolerated. Harsh punishment will accompany any future infraction.

<Thanks to teams for cooperation. Self serving platitudes. New ball rules to follow. Integrity of game>

The loophole of the old coot relieving himself while in possession of the balls is the out Goodell will exploit.

The much longer period of the ball in question being in possession of various Colts will be overlooked.

There you have it folks.

No, that is the ball that the team that complained about the inflation had in their possession. I would not be satisfied with that. The vikings/panthers game they were warming up the balls on the sideline weeks after the league said that heaters could not be used for that purpose and no fine was given.

how does finding the superbowl winning team guilty of tampering balls make the league look better after last year. I guess in your eyes critics of the league will not take pause at the league paying Columbia for a study and then ignoring their conclusions and punishing a team anyway. yeah, that shows that he is on top of his game.

IDK, before all the information about the rogue league employee stealing footballs, Ryan Grigson saying he informed the league about the Pats the week leading up to the game, and the fact that they didn't record the PSI at any point came out, I would have expected the Wells Report to bury the information. Now they have to address the league's incompetence and shady dealings or they will have an issue. Of course, they could just report what we already know and nothing else even if there is more. But the leaks has actually forced the Wells report to speak of how the league screwed. Otherwise, everyone in the media except for the Patriots haters will question the report and whether they are covering up the league's involvement.

Rob, Wells is lawyer, and a good one. Lawyers know how to use words to not paint their client (the league office) in a bad light even when their client screwed up. Im not sure what will happen but am confident that there will be nothing overtly critical of the league office in the report

No, he doesn't. Neither one will reflect on the other in the court of public opinion.

Yeah, he pretty much screwed up public opinion already, and he's just about the most disliked and least trusted commissioner the NFL has ever had. But I can still see him catering to those within the League, who want the Patriots to be made an example of, in some shape or manner.

By the way, do you guys remember how long ago this announcement came out?

Ahhhh, we were so young back then. Tom Brady had just three Super Bowl rings instead of four

Goodell can easily throw his staff under the bus if he wants, it would make him look more competent than he is.
I thought it was Curr

I think he's under pressure to do what's right, not to placate one side or the other.

Why not? The freeh report on the ray rice scandal was critical of the NFL.

Fair enough. But you need to ask yourself, who's doing the pressuring? Goodell is working overtime to restore his credibility... not that he personally dislikes the Patriots, but he knows many important people in the league who do...and maybe that'll work to his benefit. I don't like conspiracy theories, and I'm not suggesting that Gooddell has a personal agenda against the Patriots. But he's smart enough to knows where to move whereever the political winds blow. I would not be surprised if some of that sentiment affects the ruling of the investigation - however undeserved it might be.

It's odd, but it was that same global attitude that helped push me away from the NBA. That and the bastardizing of the rules, which is also happening with the NFL now.

Unfortunately, that's one thing that Goody and Kraft seem to have in common, and they're heading quickly in that direction. When it comes to business they're both in the "make hay while the sun shines" and "strike while the iron is hot" camp.

I did hear somewhere that Wells' people and Brady are having a hard time getting together. It might have been on the radio but it could have been at my weekly poker game when I picked that up. If true it makes sense.

Most of your "facts", in fact, are wrong. That is indisputable. That you boldly claim these errors are facts is telling.
So let's apply Occam's Razor to a non Patriot fan who takes his personal time to come to a Patriot chat board in order to declare his posted and erroneous statements as "fact". The simplest explanation is:
(A) You have hatred of the Patriot success. That over emotional status drove you to use your personal time to come to this chat board to make factually incorrect statements
(B) You are not emotional. You simply have adequate disposable free time to post on a chat board but did not have time or were unwilling to research what is fact.
(C) Congenital idiocy and are incapable of knowing any better.

I believe B would speak best of you, however, I'd be willing to bet A or C is the answer.
