2015 Draft Prospect Thread

Here's a name to file away as a cheap Vereen type replacement:

Malcolm Agnew's Pro Day #'s: 5'9-1/8" 203lbs, 4.51 40, 3.89 shuttle, 6.62 3-cone, 36.5" Vertical, 10'10" Broad Jump. Ameer Abdullah-lite.

He's from Southern Illinois and that 6.62 3-cone and 3.89 shuttle are interesting.

And from NFL.com:

"ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS
Explosive off the snap and gets into high gear quickly. Shows noticeable acceleration after the handoff and tears through the line of scrimmage at high speed. Has the juice to get to the corner and turn it. Can sink hips and make sharp cuts on wide-flowing runs. Shows no hesitation to hit it hard between tackles. Makes changes to the course of his run on the fly. Very capable pass-catcher with instant "go" after catch. Can make defenders miss on second level. Determined to find positive yards with each downhill attempt.
WEAKNESSES
Despite his compact frame, won't move too many piles after contact and can be felled by a single tackler if squared up. Shows impatience as a runner. Needs to improve run tempo and learn when it's time to shift gears rather than relying on hard-charging approach. Gets excited to make cuts and fails to press the line of scrimmage for as long as he should when setting up cutback lanes. Tiny catch radius forces quarterbacks to be extremely accurate with throws.
NFL COMPARISON
Brandon Oliver
BOTTOM LINE
Mighty-mite runner with a fearless approach to running inside. Has the acceleration and foot quickness to threaten defenses to the perimeter. Agnew will have to improve his ball security and show that he's big enough to stand up to NFL defenders. However, his toughness and talent as a pass-catcher will pair nicely with his acceleration through the line of scrimmage for teams looking for a change-of-pace backup with the ability to inject energy into a drive."

He's also the son of former Patriot, Giant and Ram Ray Agnew. I believe he has a brother at the Cowboys too.

Sounds like a BB type of player. How is his pass blocking?

woot 5 picks in the top 101!

Randy Gregory failed the combine drug test.

I cant recall off the top of my head, but have first rounders typically taken tumbles for this, or generally looked passed based on talent?

I'm not sure he'd fall all the way to 32. But perhaps to 15-20th. I wonder if Bill would consider moving up to get him.

He has tons of potential.

Apparently he was up front at the combine about it so all the teams were already aware. I don't think this will damage his stock too much, although he has seemed to be slipping a bit lately anyway. I think its a pretty minor issue for him overall.

1. Jake FISHER OL
2. Marcus PETERS CB
3a. Ronald DARBY CB
3b. David JOHNSON RB
4a. Marcus HARDISON DT/DE
4b. Nick MARSHALL QB/CB/WR Auburn
You're dreaming if you think Peters will be available for the pats in the second and what exactly has Marshall shown to be worth taking in the 4th?

Other than butler i don't thinking heard of any of those people

Well three of them are on the current roster and Francis was someone we took of waivers from the Dolphins in 2013 before releasing him again.

Bah. As a American, I cannot but help feel Rage that anyone would consider it a strike against a man's Character that he likes to toke up. Might's well get out the PitchForks and Torches because a guy likes a Fizzy Lifting Drink or 9, or a Smoke, or cup of Coffee. Such idiotic Hypocrisy.

On the other hand, as a Barometer of Intelligence, as in You Know You're Getting Tested So There Are Measures You Can Take, then, yeah...There is a certain Vetting Value, there. :p

Some more details:

Gregory said he failed two tests at NU in January and April 2014, and would have been kicked off the team if he’d failed another.

“I was worse at Nebraska than I’ve ever been at any other time of my life,” Gregory told NFL Media reporter Kimberly Jones. “But I know how I am now. I think if teams really look at how I am now more so than the past, they’ll see I’m making strides to get better, as a person and as a player.”
...
He said he talked at the NFL combine to 29 teams about his marijuana use and that he used marijuana to cope with anxiety since graduating from high school.

IMO the worrisome issue -- both for teams and for Gregory's own well-being -- is that he was self-medicating (illegally) for anxiety, and the pressure of playing for a big-time college football program spurred him to take more and more even after he got caught. That doesn't bode well for handling the pressure of the NFL.

I hope he's getting good professional help and has a strong support structure. Anxiety is no joke.

He's becomeing more and more Aldon Smith 2.0 Not even sure i want him at #32 if he falls.

Josh Gordon is going to make these more "hard core" marijuana users fall more than usual. Of course the other side of the coin is Justin Houston who failed his test too. But with Gordon currently suspended for the year it's going to make a tough decision for GMs.

Clark reminds me a little of John Randle. That said. Let him join the Cincy Penal Colony. I'll pass.

You're dreaming if you think Peters will be available for the pats in the second and what exactly has Marshall shown to be worth taking in the 4th?
He might be. Marshall has a great arm, and great athletic ability, could play WR/CB. Might need to trade Garrapolo.

I don't recall anyone discussing Fresno St. DT Tyeler Davison before. 6'2" 316# with 34" arms (!) and 10 3/4" hands. Former wrestler.

He had an excellent Combine: 5.18 40 (later trimmed to 5.10 at his Pro Day), 1.82 10-split, 8'9" BJ, 33" VJ, 7.53 3-Cone and 32 reps @ 225.

Lance Zierlein notes:
Built like a contestant in a strong-man competition. Has thickly muscled, long arms with big hands. Loves hand-to-hand combat inside. Uses club, rip, hump and push/pull techniques to beat defender. Has power to forcibly extract himself from block. Feels double team and braces outside leg and gets duck-footed to battle. Uses length to overcome lack of height. Relies on upper-body flexibility paired with explosion in his hips. Has quickness and "quick-win" capability to get after the quarterback and play on the other side of the line. Very tough at the point of attack and tries to impose his will on centers. Played 80 percent of the defensive snaps. Likeable with high character. High school wrestling background.

Compares him to Kyle Williams.
