Ineligible receiver rule changed

Someone said it on twitter better, but because of the Patriots' playoff run:

-Ball Handling will be changed.
-Eligible receiver rules will be changed.
-Injury timeouts will be changed.

I try not to have a persecution complex but...

Just sent the Ravens' Twitter account a link to "Dry Your Eyes" by The Streets. Sums those *****es up perfectly.

New Rule:

Brady must play with ankle weights on and all Pats receivers must have one hand tied behind their back. A steel shield will start falling once the ball leave the field for Field Goal attempts.

And if we still beat them they will want all Pats footballs to weigh 20 lbs and be greased after each play.

Let's see. Where did I save those Ineligible Receiver plays that drove John Harbaugh and T-Fizzle nuts? Oh, here they are under "Deception and Sorta Cheating." Select. Delete. Done.

Note to self: Dear Hoodie, we don't get the Ravens during the 2015 regular season, but maybe we should work on doctoring Harbaugh's Gatorade in case we meet them again in the playoffs. Hit send. Done.

so...all you need to be is a crybaby mongoloid head coach too stupid to understand the rules and stamp your feet...the league will dumb it down for you. Pathetic. If Harbaugh had even an iota of self respect he'd resign right now. What a little crybaby scumbag loser.

They should make the defensive team declare their scheme and blitzers prior to the offensive team getting set. It would be unfair to force the offense to have to read the defense

NFL owners have passed the rule proposal banning the use of ineligible receivers like the Patriots did in the AFC divisional playoffs.- Baltimore Ravens Twitter

I believe "it" meant to say "NFL owners have passed the rule proposal banning the ability to change who is an ineligible receiver like the Patriots did in the AFC divisional playoffs."

The Patriots did not use ineligible receivers to catch passes. They swapped the eligible and ineligible players, told the refs, announced to the Ravens over the PA system, including a warning "not to cover" certain players.

Can't wait to hear about how the Patriots haven't won anything since this rule change.

All the Ravens fans I've seen are emphasizing the "seven second" aspect of things. They're conveniently ignoring the seven months teams would have had to prepare before seeing this again. This should have gone the way of the wildcat, a single audible that check to when the offense lines up like that. When everybody is prepared, then nobody will bother doing it anymore.

mind boggling. they changed the rule just to stick it to the pats and so harbaugh can save face . what kind of league are they running now. this really pisses me off. why dont they just make the offense inform the defense what the play is before every snap.

When I try to explain the game of football to someone who doesn't know I always put some emphasis on how the game is about territory possession much like a war and how strategies and outsmarting your opponent is important and fascinating.

They are taking this away from the game. Maybe this is part of the NFL expansion plan, to grab new fans around the globe you have to ease things otherwise if you create difficulties people give up. They want to make the football game become much like a video game, every pass is completed, the game is clean and no one gets hurt. Like a peaceful war which is obvious a nonsense.

When they get to the point where is not allowed to sack the QB I'll give up.

How many rules are they going to change because they can't beat Belichick?
I've given a few 'winner' awards in this thread, but This IS the winner so far.+1

Agreed, one of the strategies of football is deception, fooling your opponent. So they just made part of the game illegal. I never thought this would pass, but it just goes to show how bad things are getting. Football as we Knew it will be gone shortly.

Big win for the Ravens. Ozzie was worried that they would need to raise their minimum personnel standard on Wonderlic scores for players from 5 to 10.

BREAKING NEWS: NFL rules committee approves a new sanction: Players that are not declared as Quarterbacks cannot throw touchdown passes.

This inconsequential (because teams would have had all summer to prepare) rule change shows how much BB is living inside GMs' & HCs' heads. It's a compliment to BB & the SB Champions that the other teams aren't capable of preparation & play at this college rule level.

Let's revel in our team's hard earned, well deserved superiority as long as we can.

Amazing how they are not able to imitate us, so change the rules...

Thought Bob Kraft had all this "power", have the envious owners usurped this power we often hear about??

To be fair to Harbaugh and the Ravens, their issue was more about how the officials handled things than about the moves themselves.

The rule change is overkill (Welcome to pretty much everything in the U.S. in the 2000s!), but they did have a point.
