by harsh I understand there's no swap, they will give us that #6 and keep the #32

It is clear that the jets tamperd with Revis, and if that is true, he thinks the commish will lay the boom.

Also, sal palantino says the same thing.

I honestly want the league to give US (the wronged party) a top jets pick, not just a forfeiture.

I never saw that Palemalu quote on Brady....wow, nice!

Harsh would be giving up #6, not swapping it for #32 as well as loss of cap space and a fine. That still sounds fair too tbh.

I don't care if the Jets forfeit that pick. They are a steaming pile of garbage of an organization and don't draft well anyway. Only way I'll be excited is if new england directly benefits.

Greedy :D Im happy with Jets #6 and we play them in Foxboro two times instead of one during Revis contract.

harsh punishments for the TEAMS ONLY????

Or will we see some HARSH PUNISHMENTs for the NFL Head Office EMPLOYEES who are (ineptly) orchestrating hits on specific teams and making the whole NFL head office look even more inept (if possible) than it is????

Well, giving New England #6 should be the bare minimum because how much would it have cost to trade for him?

If just talking to Lance Briggs and not signing him got a swap of 2nd rounders then outright giving up a first round pick for signing a HOFer by tampering fits in well.

I would be happy with the Jets losing their first and then having to swap seconds with us. Their first pick wouldn't be until #64 :)

Seriously, the Patriots should be rewarded. This is not a case where they simply apply a punishment to one side, there was a player changing teams result of a known fact that his future employer at the time of the events would offer him a irrefutable money.

The public statements by the owner are apparently not enough to make determinations. The open question seems to be whether the jets contact Revis or his agent.

If not, then, as so many have said, the owner will be fined for his stupidity.
=====

Just BTW, I question the analysis of anyone who thinks that the statement by the jets owner affected the decision of the Revis not to sign before free agency started or the decision of the patriots not to pick up his option. There is no direct harm to the patriots unless one of those decisions was affected. I am NOT saying that direct harm is necessary to determine a violation.
=====

A couple of weeks before free agency, many here thought that there would be teams offering Revis $15M or more a year. No one was sure who those teams were. Unless there was DIRECT contact, Revis didn't know the details of what the jets would offer. Personally, I think that his agent would have suggested that Revis should wait and see. There was exactly ZERO to be gained by Revis signing before March 11th.

Nah I was pumped but I just got to read the article and is Schefter saying that the sky is blue as usual.

What if the Jets were the only other team that Revis wanted to go to besides the Pats. What if Revis also thought that the Jets wouldn't take him back after shunning him the year before. I honestly don't think Woody's comment had much affect, but assuming these things couldn't be true is a flaw in analysis.

Such things are impossible to know without actually being the player. That's why comments like Woody's are explicitly called out in the rules about tampering.

From the SalPal interview linked above: "The third is they don’t have the Patriots dead to rights and they don’t know what to do.”

They don't have the Patriots dead to rights b/c, you know, they didn't tamper with the footballs.

I like how Sal Pal says "I don't want to conjecture" and then goes onto list three items of conjecture.

Anyway, as for "it" being widespread across the league, yes, in fact, natural depressurization of footballs would be rather widespread, particularly as the season goes on and the temperature differential between locker room and field grows. Has the league still not caught onto that fact? I do want to conjecture, and my conjecture is these talking heads still haven't caught onto the basic science of it - but that Wells' report will include Columbia's results, or whoever's, which will suggest about a PSI or so of deflation is to be expected.

FANTASY!!!! (I like to dream too, but in reality we will never see this happen)

I wonder what Belichick would do with the #6 pick.
