Explain to me what makes me sound like a bigot? Due tell
Commenting that you cannot be bigotted because you have a gay friend is a bigotted comment. You like one so you must be ok with all of them? Treating individuals based upon a characteristic is bigotted. Saying how he should have handled it, which is to hide, is also bigotted.

Also tell me the last time a nfl prospect did a 20/20 interview to talk about his sexual preference gay or straight? Are the 250* combine prospects all hiding who they are?
Is 20/20 asking heterosexual footballs players to do interviews about their sexual preference?
You have to be kidding me if you don't think there is a difference. No one is telling those players to not answer if they are asked. Many bring their wives or girlfriends to the draft, many wives or girlfriends are very public. You are the only one who thinks its a tragedy that Sam acts like everyone else, because, Oh my God, 20/20 wants to interview him because he is the rare gay football player. Of course he should crawl under a bridge and not let that happen. What will the people who type on message boards think.

You are reaching here Andy. He mishandled the situation; teams do not like players who are prominent media fixtures, whether that is Terrell Owens doing sit ups in his driveway of Michael Sam talking about being a gay man.

Those people called me a bigot are another word that ends with "OT".

If you're referring to the word the English use to descibe a cigarette, your really not helping your case.

Every time this guy has been in front of a mic he has said that football is his #1 priority and yet all anyone has asked him is what its like being a gay football player, i fail to see how that's his fault. With all the **** the NFL does I dont understand why its so hard for people to believe that Sam is getting blackballed.
Did you see the numbers he put up at the veteran combine? If he was a better player and he wasn't getting signed, you'd have a point...

Seeing some of these veteran combine numbers is depressing and sad. Fans have never really been able to witness the final nail in the coffin to football careers before, or exactly what "lost a step or two" actually means. Poor Michael Bush had no idea he was that far gone.

I think he meant idiot but yeah unfortunately ambiguous attempt at an insult given the context.

his numbers were bad but someone like Felix Jones were even worse and that guy at least got worked out by teams this season

Are you really using an example of a RB with a career 4.7 ypc over six season to backup your argument that Sam, who put up similarly bad numbers with no real NFL track record, is being blackballed? You're grasping at straws.

Not reaching at all. Your comments were unfortunate and offensive. If you wish to change them, that is up to you. I think frankly you do not realize you are acting in a bigotted manner.
Terrell Owens doing situps is the same as Sam being gay? Again, you have no right to tell Sam how to be gay. Your opinion is that he is wrong to 'publicize' his identity as a person. That is a bigotted perspective. You are shielding this as some type of distraction that it would cause, and even saying he isn't committed to football because he spends his time being gay instead of worrying about football.

Once again, who the F are you to tell the man how to deal with a personal issue such as that? Do you have any clue how it was for him playing football all those years while not being public about it? Do you have any clue what a lockerroom is like? You make it seem like he wanted to use a football team to get his gay agenda out there.

What exactly were offensive about my comments? You sound like a fool right now, you are trying to fabricate something out of nothing to disagree with me and using a subject such as Michael Sam that is very sensitive to do so. It is really ridiculous actually, nothing I said was offensive at all, and they certainly were not unfortunate, they were an accurate assessment of the situation. Michael Sam is not that talented, he is a bottom of the roster player if on a NFL team, and because he decided to broadcast his personal life on millions of TVs across the country he now has a large media following that can be viewed as a distraction or annoyance to any team. Any player, who makes his personal life public opens themselves up to be a distraction, whether that is because they are gay, overly religious, political, etc. The #1 thing any HR person tells managers and employees is not to discuss sex, religion, or politics. Michael Sam did something that every employer frowns on and make no mistake NFL teams are “employers”.

You want to rely on the fact Sam is gay to ignore that he intentionally exploited his own personal life in a calculated attempt to build his notoriety heading into the draft. No other players broadcast their sexuality to the media, they do not talk about their personal lives, and that is not hiding who they are, that is being professional, and not bring their personal life into work. Terrell Owens invited the media to his home to witness what he does with his personal time, same thing inviting media into aspects of your life that are irrelevant to what happens on the football field.

As far as who I am, I am a football fan who does not give a **** who football players sleep with, so I do not want to hear about it and I am certainly not going to treat them any different, if a player stood up tomorrow and said I only like to date blonde haired girls, I would say the same exact thing, he should not have said it, because it is not something that affects his job performance so it is irrelevant to the position he is trying to be hired for.

You'll never win this argument. Believing it would have been in a homosexual's best interest to not disclose his sexual preferences while trying to earn the most important job of his life now means that you despise the gay population. Just accept it.

You are just digging deeper right now? So you are saying that being gay, is the same thing as being overly religious or political? Wow, that's pure bigotry. What really is broadcasting ones social life? Because from the sound of your comments it is only broadcasting if you are gay. Because there has certainly been college player pre draft that has had very visible girlfriends. But is that not an issue because it's not broadcasting if it's a heterosexual relationship? You are saying several times that he should have hidded the fact that he is gay. What's the difference between that and straight couples? Should the QBs with their hot girlfriends also hide them away and make sure no one finds out that they are dating?

Do you say the same thing about all the other players that will be drafted in 2015 that do various TV gigs right now?

Sam. I find it really hard to believe that the player of the year in the SEC cant find a team interested in his skills. I'm not saying anything, i'm just sayin. I am an Auburn University fan and watch a ton of SEC football, and Sam was a great player. I hope he gets a shot

Hmmm he had less than 2 sacks vs. SEC competition, his bench press reps were lower than like 10 QBs and his 40 time was slower than. Wilfork's. He is unlikely to make a team.

You can say that again.

Well if I'm a bigot you're a bigot too, hell one of the biggest bigots on this board in fact. I don't see any other poster on here as intolerant of others opinions than you. You think you're always right and act like a **** to anyone who disagrees with you. Bigot!

I guess that makes also a hypocrite. Your failure was thinking that bigotry only applies to certain situations but it is actually anyone who shows intolerance for others opinions, maybe you should read some of your own posts, since you are trying to be a blogger and all you might want to understand grammar a little better pal.

I think it is any persons best interest not to openly discuss their sex life in the work place or when doing something that has to do with work. I'm a pilot and work with many gay men, they never get on the intercom and announce that they are gay, and the straight people never announce that they are straight either.

If someone walked up to Sam and said to him "are you gay" I think he should answer honestly and hide nothing, I think he should have lived his life normally and of people noticed him and his boyfriend on social media or on a date somewhere that's fine, it would come out authentically. Instead be went on national TV in front of people who for the most part had no clue who he was and led with his sexual preference, tell me when you have ever seen any other NFL prospect do that?

I applaud the NFL in giving the players this opportunity. However, it seems that few of the players will contribute to an NFL team this year.

Are there are any that you think could be solid contributors for the patriots? I don't see any, except perhaps for Leshoure.

We'll look at Ridley when he can pass a physical. We could look at LeShoure.
