Scouting Report: David Parry, DT

Good to get some feedback on Parry because he's barely getting discussed. Sound interesting from your report. Do you think he can hold up against NFL double teams?

Manx,
I do think he can hold up. I think that is probably his strong suit. I watched four games and charted his plays. Only 2 times did he get moved off the line of scrimmage, and both were about a yard and a half off. I never saw him "on skates" or get moved out of his space. He has such a huge lower trunk that really helps. I was shocked when I saw his weight was only 308 at the combine. He looks like he played closer to 320, but he is well proportioned.

He jumped out to me when he ran a quick 10 yard at the combine. FWIW, Lance Zierlein says:

It figured that the Patriots would be on NT David Parry from Stanford. He lacks the measurables, but his tape is so legit. Powerhouse.

You are right Manx, he did have a great 10. He is sneaky athletic in short areas and in a straight line. He won't be a interior pass rusher, but he can get some interior pass rush, if that makes sense. His tape is really good, he made Henry Anderson some money, because alot of Anderson's production was a direct result of what Parry was doing.

I don't envisage him offering much, if any pass rush, but I like my DTs to be able to get out of their stance quickly and the 10 TD suggests that.

Terry Williams' pro day tomorrow. I doubt we'll get a 10 TD for him but he'll do well in other quickness tests.
