True but Belichick is the best at handling distractions.
Keeping the team focused on the jobs at hand.
He would probably only let AP in front of the camera once and that would be OK with AP I'm sure.
He's been linked to Arizona makes sense and that would certainly give them a Superbowl push.
Why not us? I love Blount I do but come on.
I think Patriots can buy low on elite talent and BB and Kraft would love that.
He wants out of Minn to him he feels betrayed.
He will shoot his way out of town very similar to the Dillon situation.
I would think the Vikes are still on the hook for most of the contract but if he would restructure and had a conversation with BB and Mr Kraft we have done business with Minny in the past.
Something like a third or lower could get it done.
Forget about his 1st round value.
This is damaged goods he does as you mention carry controversy a big contract and approaching thirty I think its a lot less then you would think.
Now I agree I doubt we do it expect him to be a Cardinal.
Think Cowboys are out of the picture since the Mayor is ripping them for Hardy.
I don't foresee Dallas double dipping on abusers.

Go back to post #9 and check out the pics. Those were 6 days later. You can't see the whip marks on his scrotum because that's illegal. He also shoved leaves in his mouth to shut him up.

I'll give you the benefit of not knowing the story so google it. I do agree with with your point of not having a dad around being detrimental. I hope he has learned from this and I'm sure protective services is still involved with monitered visits and that type of stuff. Not alot of time has passed on this and I haven't seen much contrition out him, although I haven't followed it in awhile.

Too soon for him to become a Patriot IMO and we really don't need him. Wrong place for him to land right now. We've got enough hatred already hovering overhead.
I admit, I haven't followed this story all that closely. If the kid still has signs of injury six days later, you're probably right, it was excessive.

I've seen the pictures I know what happened I've read the reports, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.

It's slightly disturbing, but not "OH MY GOD what a horrible person" disturbing. Getting hit with a switch is not something outside the norm in many parts of the country (esp where they still have corporal punishment in schools: Texas), but he did seem to go too far (as I already wrote, but perhaps I wrote it without appropriate levels of hand-wringing and pearl-clutching).

Did he take it too far to the point where he shouldn't play? Not in my book.

If the price is right, sign him. If he offered to play for a million dollars, I would be pissed if we didn't sign him, as it would suggest someone got stupid in the front office.

What he said about it seems reasonable, and it isn't like he plans to do it again. He just wants to find more appropriate ways to discipline his kid:

The NFL overreacted, and certain people here are following suit.

A much more "damaged goods" player in Greg Hardy has the opportunity to make over 13m dollars this season, which is the same as he made last year on the franchise tag (as long as he plays in the game on Sunday), I'd highly doubt that Adrian Peterson would be anywhere near as cheap as you are assuming.

He's still by far the top RB in the league whenever he plays, so his bottom basement price would still be hovering around the 5/40 contract that LeSean McCoy just signed, and that's IF he would actually restructure.

For those who do not want him because of what he did - would your perspective change if Tom was the one who did it? I'm not taking a side but am interested if people would offer a 2nd chance if it was one our heroes.

Now imagine she's white.

Petersen isn't playing before JoeBob and WillieBoy Crackerson down in Yeehaw Junction, Texas...he's playing a NATIONALLY televised sport coming into the living rooms of Americans coast to coast. On THIS coast, up "heah" in commie pinko Barney Frankland, you'll find we don't cotton to child abusers of ANY kind. So call us all the insulting epithets you can dream up, but from where I sit and live,Petersen is a scumbag. Period.

Actually, that's exactly what he ****in deserves.

Fu(k human decency, he can run the rock. Whip those defenseless little 40lb 4 year old bastards in the scrotum 'til they bleed all you want. They had it comin'. That's our "culture".

If this kinda $h!t is cool with you you should be sterilized ya sick prick.

When you get into declaring that I "think its cool" and then proceed to tell me that I should be sterilized over your straw man, you've reached the point of full-****** vanity-raging.

Feel free to copy paste your forum-fury on Facebook so none of your friends miss out on the righteousness of your internet-morality. I wouldn't want you to miss out on any social media street cred.

I'm articulate enough and precise enough in my points that if you need me to reiterate it's because of a reading comprehension problem.

No, it isn't.

Not necessarily.

According to Texas state law, they were actual photos of reckless assault, not child abuse. We have something here called a justice system, and in that justice system your emotional ramblings don't dictate what is and what isn't.

They're switch marks on the leg. Using a switch during corporal punishment is legal in Texas and in many other states.

If the complete story is told by the photograph, then please tell me the full story. Oh, right, you can't, because you weren't there. How forgetful of me.

We know.

According to his own text messages, he didn't mean to.

Adrian Peterson doesn't owe you any ****ing apology. Who the **** are you? You're ****ing nobody.
Get over yourself. In no justice system does a judge sentence someone to apologize to who-the-hell-cares from a football message board.

Have you ever done anything in life that violated a law? A ten commandment? Something a neighbor might think is wrong? You owe me an apology for it.

Can you direct me to the website that keeps him under surveillance via webcam in his own house so I can judge his behavior since pleading guilty to reckless assault? Oh, no such website exists? Then sign me up for a how-the-hell-should-I-know.

He doubled down on his belief that physically disciplining his child isn't wrong.

Which is legal in the state of Texas and elsewhere.

Apparently he needs to come apologize to you first.
Got it. You don't want people judging this guy. You think people are overreacting. You think that those photos show "reckless assault," a legal term, not any form of abuse. And, you think I'm stupid and emotional and that I want an apology from this man.

I'm going to have to file you under life's too short.

Joker, I appreciate the attempt to inject objectivity into the discussion by showing images of the Jim Crow south (and even better, a Hollywood depiction of the Jim Crow south).

My argument is not that it is ok because it is tradition, but that corporal punishment can be part of a reasonable discipline strategy for kids. And Peterson took it too far. (which I've said many times now, to an apparently reading-comprehension impaired set of interlocutors).

The question is whether his previous behavior should bar him from our uniform forever. No way. He went too far, he knows it, and has changed by all accounts.

Bunch of crackers telling black folk how to raise their kids, with the nerve to compare them to Jim Crow. Please tell us more about how we should be raising our kids, and what it was like in the Jim Crow days, mastah!

I'm not trying to abridge anybody's right to whatever opinion they have on the subject. I'm just sensitive to being labeled an over reactive sob sister when I broach MY OPINION on the Patriots acquiring this player. I'm sure his child rearing methods are considered "appropriate" in other parts of the country. So are Warren Jeffs ideas on marriage and age of consent. If Utah ever gets an NFL team, let them hire all the polygamist cornerbacks and linebackers they wish to. I just don't want to spend my hard earned cash attending games played by the NFL team I call home and sit there with this gigantic cloud of 13 year old "wives" dancing all over the stadium...just like I do not want to associate my team preference with the accepted child beating methods taken for granted in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa.

This isn't to say the Pats won't go out and sign him tomorrow. Of course they can. I'm saying I, personally, will NOT like it...and I resent the implication stated or otherwise that I'm some kind of milksop, sobsister bleeding heart because I CHOOSE to have great disdain for physically beating children.

Hell no to AP. I hope that succinctly states my opinion.

It's a "cultural" thing, and besides, he can run the rock.
stupid are you.jpg
If Kraft tried to trade for this guy and used the arguments you've so vociferously defended, he would get crucified.

AP will NOT be a Patriot. The money is outrageous, the backlash would be intolerable and we don't even have the need.

Give up on this Madden/Fantasy dream.

Wait. People are comparing what Adrian Peterson did and what ISIS do. Good Lord.

No. ISIS are psychopaths, AP is a sociopath. Big difference.

Plus, neuronet did a cognitive assessment of AP and has indicated he is a changed person. So it's all good.

signing AP makes so little sense that it really isn't worth the time for me to type this.
Huge money for a Pats RB?..sure, that's what the Pats do

Deal could be worth $25 million over five years that the was Corey Dillons contract in 2004 which at the time was big money for Runningbacks.
You really think flags aside the Patriots would hesitate to a pay a elite talent at any position 7 to 8 Million a season.
Have you seen what we just gave Marcus frickin Cannon.

Adrian Peterson would represent the biggest test of my fandom for this team since Berry ****ed all of us over by forcing Flutie to Canada.

A 5 year 25 million dollar contract in 2004 is essentially a 5 year 45 million dollar contract in 2015 (2004 cap: 80.5 million, 2015 cap: 143 million).

I'm not going to jump in the AP back and forth, but from a football standpoint, history shows BB values an elite RB. He paid elite RB money and a 2nd rd pick for a troubled RB who isn't on AP's level.

Dillon transformed the offense from 2003 to 2004. BB hasn't paid a RB since because they aren't worth paying (BJGE, Woodhead, Ridley, Vereen, Blount are all just about average RBs).

Do I expect us to trade for Peterson and take on those cap hits? No. I'm not sure another team will as well. If he gets released, people are kidding themselves if they think we would not pursue him.

At this point I'm surprised how accommodating the Viking are being of him, nobody is going to pay him $15 million a season so he needs to either take a pay cut to go play in Dallas or stop whining.

I know it will never happen here but could you see the look on Ryan's face if we landed Peterson.
Priceless.
