With the 31st pick, the New Orleans Saints select Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma

Having a second first round pick allows you to take a bit of a risk and Phillips is that. But his upside will be very enticing to NFL teams. He can be one of the more dynamic NTs in the NFL and the Saints aren't in a position where he has to be rushed onto the starting defense.

Round One
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jameis Winston, QB, FSU
2. Tennessee Titans - Leonard Williams, DL, USC
3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Vic Beasley, EDGE, Clemson
4. Oakland Raiders - Kevin White, WR, W. Virginia
5. Washington Redskins - Dante Fowler Jnr, EDGE, Florida
6. New York Jets - Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
7. Miami Dolphins (Fr. Chicago Bears) - Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
8. Atlanta Falcons - Randy Gregory, EDGE, Nebraska
9. New York Giants - Alvin 'Bud' Dupree, EDGE, Kentucky.
10. St Louis Rams - Brandon Scherff, OL, Iowa
11. Minnesota Vikings - DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
12. Cleveland Browns - Danny Shelton, DT, Washington
13. New Orleans Saints - La'el Collins, OL, LSU
14. Chicago Bears (Fr. Miami Dolphins) - Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
15. San Francisco 49ers - Jalen Collins, CB, LSU
16. Houston Texans - Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia
17. Cleveland Browns (Fr. San Diego) - Jaelen Strong, WR, Arizona State
18. Kansas City Chiefs - Andrus Peat, OT, Stanford
19. San Diego Chargers (Fr. Cleveland/Buffalo) - Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin
20. Philadelphia Eagles - Landon Collins, S, Alabama
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Malcom Brown, DT, Texas
22. Pittsburgh Steelers - Kevin Johnson, CB, Wake Forest
23. Detroit Lions - Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami
24. Arizona Cardinals - Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
25. Carolina Panthers - DJ Humphries, OT, Florida
26. New England Patriots (Fr. Baltimore) - Byron Jones. CB, UConn
27. Dallas Cowboys - Shane Ray, EDGE, Missouri
28. Denver Broncos - TJ Clemmings, OT, Pittsburgh
29. Indianapolis Colts - Cameron Erving, OL, Florida State
30. Green Bay Packers - Erick Kendricks, LB, UCLA
31. New Orleans Saints - Jordan Phillips, DT, Oklahoma

With the 32nd pick, the Baltimore Ravens select Owamagbe Odighizuwa, DL, UCLA

Not necessarily a position of need but 'Diggy" is an ideal Ravens player. I could easily see him being a Ravens pick.

And with that I'm going to take a bit of a break.

Excuse me........ Manx.

Ahem......

You mistakenly had the Jets picking in the Patriots #6 overall position.

Thanks for correcting this in advance.

Its never going to happen. Somehow it will end up being the Patriots fault and we'll have to give them 32.

Right I didn't mean devoid of talent. Just that there's nobody I'd trade a first and third to move up for and instead of having 5 or 6 players you're happy with falling to you it's only two.

Yep, I'm officially binkyless at this point. There are several solid prospects at DT, CB and OL I could picture them taking at #32, but nobody I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for. In fact, if I'm perfectly honest with myself, the few players I'm drawn to -- David Johnson, Byron Jones -- may simply be the most interesting rather than the best prospects.

I agree, there really isn't anyone jumping off the page for me yet. Ed Goldman is about as close as it gets.

See, that's exactly why we all have plenty to talk about! To me, Goldman is the single most snooze-inducing of all of the options at #32. He'd make a lovely 2-gap NT, but on the current Pats defense he strikes me as a relatively low-impact choice. I'd love to be more excited about him, though, so please do persuade me!

I have a bunch of binkies which of course means that none of them will get picked by us.

Bb seems to be interested in big dt's .

Wonder if the push of cb's up the board, maybe a big DT falls to bb at 32.

Great work Manx,
I have my binkies, the tough part is a few of them fall to positions that don't necessarily need an upgrade or an infusion of talent high in the draft (see "diggy, Hunter)
I have come to the conclusion no way Marcus Peters fall to the Patriots, which is disappointing as well.
I am trying to watch some tape and do reports on some of these guys that have been linked with the Patriots and BB.

Hard to know who that is currently although Kevin Johnson has a visit planned and I can't believe he's not interested in Byron Jones with that athleticism. TJ Clemmings is a possibility ( they met with him at senior bowl) and I can't believe that Jake Fisher hasn't caused some interest.

great job Manx as usual....after Trae Waynes do you see a big difference between guys like Collins, Peters, Johnson or Jones?

I'm not that high on Trae Waynes personally, I think he's a little slight and I'm worried about his change of direction abilities. But, assuming he's never one, I'd rank them:

1. Byron Jones - I think he's the complete package. He's also smart.
2. Kevin Johnson - athletic all-rounder who can start early. I don't think he has Jones' upside though.
3. Love him as a press corner, on that scoreMayo is right - he's the best in the draft at playing press-man. But he scares me a lot. I don't think he's disciplined enough for the Pats and his athleticism is a little concerning.
4. Love the upside but his inexperience really worries me. I'd take people like Clemmings, Fisher and Wrving before him.

Sorry @ashley1992 , number 3 was Peters, number four referred to Collins.
