Screw You Manish Mehta!

Remember when deflategate was a thing?

Wonder what will come of all that

In a timespan of less than a year the NFL had to deal with:

- Ray Rice scandal
- Adrian Peterson scandal
- Multiple players involved in drug usage stories
- Multiple players involved in beating women stories
- Johnny Manziel didn't pan out and had to seek treatment for alcohol abuse (This is more of a Browns problem but I think the NFL is definitely interested in a guy who can be a celebrity and bring more public to the league)
- Deflate gate in the week before the SB

I don't think Goddel wants to be involved in more headache, there is too much already, on the other hand this last free agency all teams sent a big

to the league tampering without limits. So he may want to make someone an example, sucks that it's the Jets we all know he won't do that, if this situation was opposite I have no doubt the Pats would lose their 1st round pick. Absolutely no question.

Some were down on Curran after the BB presser. Always loved Curran - admittedly more and more SINCE the My Cousin Vinny reference.

Best line:

It’s disheartening to see a franchise based in New Jersey – so close to one of the world’s greatest and most proud cities – begging for special treatment.

I was pleased he made sure to note the Jets are based in New Jersey three times in a 450 word piece. That's the kind of passive aggressive needling I can really get behind.

From December 29:

@MMehtaNYDN: Woody Johnson on Revis: "Darrelle's a great player. I'd love Darrelle to come back." .... Revis under contract w/ Patriots. Tampering? #nyj

Some were down on Curran after the BB presser. Always loved Curran - admittedly more and more SINCE the My Cousin Vinny reference.

There are those who believe Curran is the chosen mouthpiece of a certain owner of a boat named "VI Rings"

Dale, volley and Thornton had this scumbag mehta on this afternoon...they beat that punk azz biatch down like hulkamania over cowboy bob orton...mehta was such a doosh in the interview too...F Him....
WHACHA GONNA DO WHEN HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU MEHTA??????

Whenever an article is written that is actually pro -Patriot about the Jets tampering, there will inevitably be comments posted by jet-homer imbeciles saying "The Patriots should never accuse another team of cheating!"

That there is some really brilliant logic

In other words, because ten years ago the Patriots taped another team 10 feet from where they were allowed to tape them, other teams should now be allowed to break the rules against the Patriots for the rest of eternity

Do jets fans drink the swamp water that their stadium was built upon?

It's amazing how far that line of thinking has spread. For example, Bill Simmons had some tweets yesterday about the Syracuse and UNC basketball and their NCAA violations/investigations. There was the usual pro and con replies to his opinions, but there were also a few "How can a Boston fan complain about cheating?" comments.

How insane is that line of thinking? No one associated with New England sports can point out any wrongdoing by anyone else, ever. How would that "logic" apply to real life? If I get a speeding ticket a decade ago, I can't complain about someone else's driving? If I witness a crime, I can't call the cops or I couldn't be used as a witness during the trial?

I would wish someone would ask Mehta how he knew the EXACT parameters of the Revis deal DAYS before FA started. He's not only writing BS, he's up to his eyeballs in the entire tampering conspiracy. His entire article was just a ruse to distract from his knowledge and complicity in this matter

more manure spewing from the orifice of mannish metabaseball batinaface..

heh....must be the illegitimate progeny of THIS famous whackjob...

I admire him. He has all the all bias of a Jets homer without any concern for being remotely accurate. I admire him because I would not want that job.

Curran responds to Mehta (they have gone at it on Twitter before on this):

And here from his article:

http://www.csnne.com/new-england-patriots/curran-probe-jets-tampering-revis-no-witch-hunt

Please give Tom the clicks and read the entire article.

Tom Curran has become a kind of hero to me fighting snark with snark and stupid with logic. It feels like he is the lone homer voice in a sea of click-driven (or ego-driven) agitators.

While it has been pointed out, I was just noticing how Woody Johnson was practically using the NFLs example of a prohibited comment as a cheat sheet for his own.

From the NFL's own example of a prohibited comment:
He’s an excellent player, and we’d very much like to have him if he were available, but another club holds his rights.’

Woody Johnson:
Darrelle is a great player. If I thought I could have gotten Darrelle, for that [contract], I probably would have taken him...I’d love Darrelle to come back.

Or parsed down a little more
1) NFL example of a prohibited comment: He's an excellent player.
1) Johnson: Darrelle is a great player.

2) NFL example of a prohibited comment: We'd very much like to have him if he were available.
2) Johnson: I'd love Darrelle to come back

3) NFL example of a prohibited comment: but another club holds his rights
3) Johnson: If I thought I could have gotten Darrelle for that contract I probably would have taken him

As others have pointed out, this is clear cut indisputable tampering. I just find it interesting that Woody's comments line up, almost exactly, line for line in what the NFL gives teams as example of what they constitute as tampering.

Why does everyone assume that Woody didn't know EXACTLY what he was doing when he tampered with Revis?

Have to say I agree with you cousin. The cause and effect worked two ways. Woody could not have possibly not known he was tampering? What? Mispoke? Right! They were all warned. Like the Pats were warned about taping. They made the deal knowing that they might get nailed or get away scot free. It did not make a difference as the JETS WERE GOING FOR IT.

So on NATIONAL TV Woody, a member of the lucky sperm club, conveniently let Revis' people know the Jets were a player for his services. Who's to say that if that statement was not made Revis would have not resigned here?

If the Jets get away without the same punishment as the Pats got for a few feet of camera location real estate and heavy fines, how is this not at least in the same severity?

The Jets get slapped on the wrist and wind up with a Hall of Fame player because they tampered? If Revis does not have the word of the owner of the Jets broadcast Nationally, does he resign with the Pats?

Maybe the Jets were banking on the principal of "How dare the Pats complain" because they are always guilty. Then Woody calls Kraft and asks for forgiveness?!.....and signs the S.O.B. anyway? What? Woody must use a bowling ball bag for a jock strap!

First Draft choice and fine. Match the Pats penalty of video camera misuse. How can anyone say this is less flagrant!? Pats lost an important piece of their Team. The Pick should go Pats way. Whining? Were the Jets whining on our film location too?

Manish and the numbers were dead on proof!

To all who say this is not a big deal......Rasberries!!!

I hope Woody has a clean bung hole when Manish's nose goes up there ...........

Ehhh ... on second thought ... I hope not.
