PATS Could have had Vince for 3M Cap hit?

Better one year too early than one year to late......Now where did I hear that.....

Besides this years draft is strong at DT....can pick up a quality DT as far as mid second rd.

You do realize that just because a player signed a deal with one team, does not mean he would have accepted that same deal with another.

As I mentioned in my initial post ( the part you didn't quote):

"Could Vince have wanted more from the PATS than he
was willing to accept from the Texans?"

So cap hit this year is 1.5 + 1 + 1 = 3.5M cap hit and PATs probably could have gotten it down to 3M cap hit.

Yes, the cap hit THIS YEAR is 3.5M and overall there is $5M guaranteed. So, if they don't think Wilfork would make the roster next year or would be an incredibly low-impact player, you are talking about $5M for one year of service. Sure, you can spread it out over two years, but it is a total of $5M in cap hits. In fact, the Patriots probably could have structured it with closer to a $1M cap hit in 2015, but the fact is that in 2016, the cap will still exist and every dollar is valuable.

They're clearly transitioning their DL now. Vince at his age weight nad power didn't fit the plan.

No hard feelings either way, it seems, so that's awesome. Vince gets to settle in between the best defensive player in the world in Watt, and a potential future monster in Clowney (I hope he's okay).

All is well.

Its also looking like both Jordan Phillips and Carl Davis will both be available at 32 and as late as mid second rd. Either would complete a front four of Jones, Easley, (Phillips-Davis), Sheard, which as I see it is an upgrade on last year....along with Collins, Hightower, and a healthy Mayo, the front seven do look impressive...

Vince probably wanted to move on, knowing it would be the same next year. They want to turn the position over.
