Bradley Fletcher signing with Pats

Straight Garbage, both him and McClain...Oh well, we had our chance and blew it...

I cannot recall ever seeing a corner have a worse game when the focus was on him than when Fletcher went up against Dez last year. He didn't even make it look competitive. Fletcher was scrambling around like an idiot and basically being an anti-Revis while Dez was barely breaking sweat and plucking the football out of the air.

I hate this move, i'm sorry.

You could possibly add Chung to that theory as well, assuming his improvement last year wasn't 100% due to everyone around him. If Williams and Fletcher do happen to succeed in their new spots, I might start to consider Chip Kelly as The Anti-Rex Ryan: So worried about his ground breaking offensive scheme that he doesn't pay attention to his defense.

You may have something there. Based on their off-season moves, it looks like they're going to run Texas' Wishbone offense.

Can the people who are prepared to have an open mind about this signing please stop talking sense, it ruins the Chicken Little narrative.

True dat. They've had a rough couple of months too, so we should be generous.

I'm really confused about what's going on during these TDs. He's lined up like he is going to challenge his man, but doesn't. He then strolls behind him. It's really weird. That seems to be a mental/coaching thing. Belichick has to believe he can eliminate that.

We've all had posts we'd like to take back, I'm sure...
Most of us have. There's a couple who don't, no matter how wrong or asinine some their posts may have been.

Marqui is a solid poster. We've all had posts we'd like to take back, I'm sure...
Yup, but not one remotely close to being that idiotic.

@Pat_Thorman: New #Patriots CB Bradley Fletcher's @PFF coverage grade ranked 101st (of 108) in '14. QBs had a 107.6 QBR when targeting him.

Just ot be clear I rated your post 'useful', not Bradley Fletcher.

McClain is about right but Fletcher has a base salary of well over vet minimum. Unless my numbers are way off.

Fletcher has started 50+ games at CB in the NFL. You are not going to get a 28 year old 50 game starter at CB for vet minimum.

You get a special team guy for vet minimum.

Congratulations, Bradley Fletcher. Without playing even one snap, you have already improved
from 3rd-worst off-season signing to 4th-worst off-season signing. Great job.

So whom will we ask to cover #1 WRs?

Malcolm Butler? Dennard? Ryan? If Fletcher is as bad as the chicken littles on this thread would have it we could use Nink as a better choice. Sheesh.

I agree with alot of what you said but I hate this argument so much. The coaching staff does know more than all of us but that doesn't mean they never get it wrong. They are not above criticism.

Criticism before the results are in is just showing stupidity by the critic.

Im no xs and os genius but i have read a few articles that bb might have signed fletcher to convert him to play safety. Its not like bb has forgotten about football im sure he seen the film of fletcher getting burned everyway possible. But maybe he sees something that he feels he can use as a safety.

i dont get why people laughed about PFF grades when they said Brady wasnt elite or he had negative grades against Baltimore (and he played a great game) and now use these source to destroy Bradley Fletcher, come on people, give the man a ****ing chance, dont be a pink hat.

He was definately better, but certainly not perfect. He very well might revert to his poor coverage without Revis and Browner. Not sure Chung is even worth having. Might be better of with another free safety with these potentially bad corners starting.

"He was definitely better...might revert..." So cut him already? How asinine. What if he doesn't revert? How about seeing what he does before cutting him for what he might do.

The QB position is infinitely more difficult to quantify with statistics, its the reason why the QB Ratings can be so freaking weird and nonsensical (Geno Smith had a 158.3 rating in a game last year). Basically there is no accurate metric. Grading a corner is much more straight forward and objective.

Where did I write cut him already? How about reading the full post before accusing me of what I didnt say.

On first impression and having watched Eagles games, I am not fond of this signing. That said, I am prepared to give Fletcher and opportunity and leave the pitchfork mentality until it gets closer to the season. Perhaps he improves, perhaps the Patriots continue to work the position.

Waynes, Johnson, Peters and co. must surely be on the Patriots board. I can't believe this will be the CB unit the team carries into the season.

Perhaps Butler and Dennard and Ryan look at the fact that their team just signed a couple of veteran FA CBs and decide they can't celebrate winning the Super Bowl any longer and start busting their tails to ensure they make the roster again next year. If he serves to eliminate complacency among the CBs already under contract Fletcher has been a good signing, even if he gets cut in camp. Maybe especially if he gets cut in camp.
