Really not a cornerback. Another special teams player.
Not panicking until September comes and these guys are on the team.
Maybe a bit more invested in signing bonus dead money than we would prefer for low probability players.

Freeney, Chekwa, McClain, Fletcher, Cadet - throw in Tyler Ott - a lot of depth at special teams.
Only Sheard seems destined as a new player to see much time on the field other than special teams.

Chandler?

No, it's that your opinion was stated by what you believe other posters opinion may be, why use the broad brush, why not just give your own opinion?

Sigh. Can't argue this any longer I'm afraid.

Man our Special Teams is gonna be BANGIN' this year!

Maybe the strategy is to supplement the losses in the defensive backfield by getting better field position for the offense (score more easily) and score more on kickoffs/punts?

Shhhhh dont tell anyone I said this but I think its all about getting the secret weapon Danny Amendola better ST around him so he can take it to the house every kickoff.

Don't forget about Chandler. Cadet seems like a good possibility as well.

Butler replaced Arrington in the Super Bowl, in case you were watching.

Actually, Browner replaced Arrington covering the 6'4" Mathews lining up in the slot. Butler took Kearse for the most part in the second half of the SuperBowl.

On the final interception, Butler had the outside receiver and Browner had Kearse in the slot, although it was pretty obviously a stacked formation pick play.

Plenty of special teams players currently under contract for the New England Patriots:

Slater, Matthew
Bolden, Brandon
Freeny, Jonathan
Ebner, Nate
Chekwa, Chimdi
White, Chris

Good point. Fletcher/McClain is a significant upgrade over Revis/Browner, and only crazy people would be disappointed in these two signings...

All the rational people are currently popping the corks on bottles of champagne, as these signings have guaranteed a SB win in the upcoming season.
People only leave comments like that to get upvoted. It's ridiculous how old those 'jokes' are getting.

Every single thread this offseason, one of the first few comments translates to "oHHHH WaTcH ouT 4 tHa Ck1kiN liTTLeS Im sUch a LoYaL and RashinuL FaN!!!!".

Get a new schtick.

Man why didn't we sign Brown. We need at least one proven commodity playing on the outside at corner.

Hello straw man my old friend.
Haha, your original comment called upon a straw man just as much as the one you replied to. Not sure if serious?

These are the type of signings that would put anyone other than Belichick in McLean Hospital.

@MikeReiss: CB Robert McClain contract details: 1-year, $1.24 million. Signing bonus of 150k, roster bonus of 240k, base salary of 800k.

This stiff got guarentees

Almost every signing gets at least some guaranteed money. Just consider it the price of doing business. No vet is going to sign for a contract and then get no guaranteed money.

If they fail to make the team they are in a bad spot as other teams already have players that know their system. They could have a hard time getting on another team.

Should we have kept talking past each other?

You're doing the right thing by dropping it.

And don't let them pull you back in.
