Is this the worst FA period for the Pats in the last 10 Years?

I question things. I debate and have discussions. Does it bother you that I take a wait and see approach as opposed to cry like a ****y like you did?

But then again I did not play football at a level 99.999999999 higher than everyone else here and then claim my education was also higher.

LMFAO!

So,

no you attack. i am taking a wait and see approach as well. however, as i wait, i am commenting on what i currently see. and i dont love whats going on in the secondary. you dont like it, i dont care.

actually, the correct number is 99.988874. no worries though. if i had a 8th grade education itd be higher than some around here

You claimed you had a high education and some 999% thing about your level of football. This is after you started a ***** thread.

And now you are following me into other threads? Sounds like someone is a little hurt from the beating they took in their pathetic thread. So you come into a more pathetic thread (actually that is debatable) and try to start more crap.

Who is embarrassed?

I agree with you on this point...im just trolling you now

I am sorry. I dont speak 5th grade so I cant really help you.

The pats failed in FA overall to this point.

I know this will not be a popular thread or popular topic. But I believe it needs to be discussed. First off the the ifs and buts

A) I think it would have been very difficult for the Pats to keep Revis (and without him no need to keep Browner)
B) I think they tried to make other things happen once they realized they would not keep them.
C) The Pats made some decent moves to improve parts of their team.
D) This is not saying the Pats will not be competitive and be a super bowl contender. This is simply my declaration that AFTER they realized they lost Revis they misplayed their hand on several occasions.

This is not a thread about the draft. This is not a thread about how good the guys we have under contract are. This is a thread about how once guys left there were other guys available and we did not come close to maximizing what we could have done and now many of the top players are not available. Now lets get to the meat of it (this will be largely opinion and conjecture).

Why did they fail? Well first off we must accept things in FA happen fast and a lot is predetermined. You need to be aggressive if you want to land top players as half already have deals in place and the other half will go fast.

Well one reason is they had their eyes on a few players Lewis - CB, Mathis - G, ect.. I believe guys were among some of their main targets. However they got out bid or the price they were hoping to get was not there or the team's needs changed or other things happened making these deals no longer on the table. I don't know for sure. Whatever the reason is the Pats could not land them. While they failed to do these things top players were coming off the board.

Another reason is they were a bit too hung up on the contract. They had players they wanted but only on certain deals. While these were being hashed out and later broke down more players went off the board.

To be fair they did get a few good deals for solid players. Sheard & Chandler both got very reasonable contracts. The Pats however could have done more if they were willing to budge a bit more off their numbers. Johnson/Bush got offered better deals and that is why they are not here. They would have improved the team but the Pats needed them to be on their number.

While these negotiations failed more players went off the board.

So now we are up to yesterday and today. They signed 2 JAG CBs & a 3rd down back that was not the best option in Cadet.

Not horrible signings but better players could have been had if the Pats acted differently.

The final piece of evidence that was clearly damning to me was giving Nink a pay raise. There was no reason to do it from a cap management perspective. To me it was the admission that "We have cap space we have to use and the FAs compared to options we can draft will not be much of an upgrade at this point".

They more than doubled his pay when they did not have to cause frankly they looked at what is out there and know they will not spend all the cap space they have (or will have) in FA at this point due to player quality being down.

They will pay for a Guard and maybe a 4th WR and probably try to fill the rest in the draft. They simply do not have the means unless they over pay a jag (which they will not do).

So overall short version. They had targets in mind and by the time they knew they would not work it was too late OR they would have had to over pay a guy which they almost never do. It happens. Things don't always go as planned. I would suggest though if BB could have a do over he would probably have done FA differently in a lot of ways.

Are we 0-1?

Another reason is they were a bit too hung up on the contract.

Being "hung up" on contracts is a primary reason why NE has remained competitive so long, second only to Brady. Why fans put March satisfaction over fiscal responsibility is beyond me.

Let's remember that Revis set the market for CBs, clearly at a higher level than the Patriots were comfortable with. You saw the crazy deals to guys like Maxwell. Patriots wanted nothing to do with CB during the initial buying frenzy; I think that is obvious.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Do you really believe the team gave Nink a raise simply because they ran out of better options for the money?

This seems to be the new 2015 off season meme that is infecting the easily infected

This forum really sucks sometimes.

What couldn't find the other handful of threads that were complaining about the Pats free agency to post this in so you had to make one?

I sense a whole lot of jumping to conclusions about the Ninkovich contract. Not every internal storyline goes public instantly (like the Michael Bennett news yesterday). There are a whole lot of explanations that make more sense than "they did something they didn't need to because they have no other use for their money."

I remember last free agency when the Denver Broncos were crowned Super Bowl champions and a bunch of losers on this forum swore we would never be able to beat Denver.

... And then of course we smoked the pants off the Broncos 43-21 and later won a Super Bowl, which people on this forum appear to have enjoyed for a whopping 4.5 weeks.

This is the same poster that told me he was going to tell on me if I called him a name. So, consider the source.

Just tell on him. Fight fire with fire I always say.
