CB Bradley Fletcher is signing a one-year deal in New England, per agent
@andysimms.

Just a one year look.

I think Patriots fans will be surprised in a good way by Fletcher. He is much better than he showed in PHI last year.
James should know better hes a really good analyst but he's dead wrong in this instance

It won't matter who the Pats sign. No one will be as good as Revis, but I do hope that they are at least slightly better than the corners already on the roster.

PFF had Fletcher and McClain ranked as two of its absolute worst cornerbacks on the market. The grades deserve a huge grain of salt, but Brown and Newman both graded better overall than Browner over the season. Of course, even if you find them somewhat useful as guidance on how decent a player is, these grades are still both vague in meaning and disguise nuance - Browner was a situational corner who was up and down since he was either a shutdown corner or constantly burned depending on the opponent in question.
PFF analysis deserves to be taken with all the grains in the Utah Salt Flats.

Maybe they signed him so they can show their young guys what NOT to DO?

Tarell Brown has no interceptions in the last two seasons while passes defensed have dropped from 14 to 10 to 4 in successive seasons.

I am not whining. However, you are grasping at straws.

I was simply stating that the professionals they were auditioning may be able to bring something to the table. Revis is gone and isn't coming back, and there is no reason to compare anyone who comes in to him. I'm not saying you were, I just had a low expectation for these guys to begin with, but wasn't as pessimistic as others. Camp bodies to show the young guys their tricks and to provide competition.

I still disagree with the use of raw stats to evaluate the position, especially if those stats don't include how the guys he covered fared. However, I do not think we disagree as much as we may have at first.

I simply think dismissing these guys off hand is a mistake. And hey they didn't even sign the guy I was defending! Hopefully Fletcher can be exactly what I described above, a vet who will compete. If nothing else, he has good size, straw grasping or not.

Regarding Fletcher - coach em up or limit his role.

…or not sign him in the first place.

So, you have no faith in Dennard, Ryan, Butler or Arrington? Good to hear..

do you not want to get better at every position? you want us to sign slightly worse players?

So, ignore the question asked and throw out a ridiculous question in return.. Why do you even bother to post if you are going to be ridiculous?

the poster wrote they want to get a player slightly better than what we have....what could possibly be wrong with that. you seemed insulted that he/she wants a better player.

How did Shane Vereen under-achieve??

This year: 96 rushes and 52 receptions.. 2 Rushing TDs, 3 Receiving TDs..
Last year: Playing only in 8 games: 41 Rushes and 44 receptions. 1 Rushing TD, 3 Receiving TDs

Those are the numbers we expected out of him.. Not sure what you expected. Those are numbers better than the 2001 or 2004 Kevin Faulk.

Thought he had the talent to be a real game breaker as a #2 pick. Did about as well as I'd expect a 3rd down back to do with Brady, no more.

With a cheap player, what will the drop off be, 5 catches? Just my opinion. Thought he could be devastating.

And I asked a legitimate question which you and that person ignored.. But that is typical..
