Bradley Fletcher signing with Pats

@BenVolin: .@PFF ranked Bradley Fletcher as the 92nd best CB in the NFL last year out of 108. Credited him with 9 TDs allowed. So there's that

@PFF_Jeff: Sterling Moore had a +4.9 coverage grade in 2014, did not allow a TD in 498 coverage snaps. Played mostly out wide, could be starter in SF.

Breaking my heart BB. Why not bring the kid back instead?

He was terrible. Last season, so was Chung when he was there. Lets hope that he step up ...

If I really felt like stirring the pot right now, I'd point out that Fletcher is now our tallest corner. If I wanted to stir the pot that is.

From PFF...

"10. Bradley Fletcher

2014 Grade: -8.4

2014 Snaps: 1094

No player wants to enter free agency after a down year, yet that is exactly the situation that Fletcher finds himself in. In 2013, his first season in Philadelphia, things went well enough. He finished that year allowing a 57.8% completion rate and holding passers to a 77.2 QB rating, respectable marks for a starter. However this season Fletcher has been exposed, as opponents sensed a weakness and went after him relentlessly. He allowed just a 53.0% completion rate, which is good, but conceded nine touchdowns and a 107.6 QB rating to opponents.

As the Eagles No. 1 corner, Fletcher found himself matched up against a talented array of receivers and was found wanting, however he still possesses the skill set that earned him that opportunity and should cope better as a secondary option."

Bradley Fletcher has joined the Patriots on a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

Guys if its a one year deal and hes on the 53 man roster, doesnt matter if the money is fully gtd or not, the cap hit is the same.... Am i wrong?

The cap hit I am pretty sure only factors in salary and guaranteed. Any incentives only count once acheieved. So signing bonus (hit for this year) and salary count against the cap.

Work out bonus, Roster bonus, incentives, playing time, ect... Don't until achieved.

Ross12's 2015 Prediction: by February 2016, Patsfans.com will be clamoring for BB to re-sign Bradley Fletcher, only to have him leave for more money elsewhere, and the forum will erupt in tears.

This is what they get for letting Revis get away.

@PatriotsSB49: There is a video somewhere of Brady going 22/22 in one on ones against the Eagles DBs two years ago. Dobson repeatedly de-flowered Fletcher.

Fletcher was much better in 2013, ranked 44th overall with an above average grade from @PFF. #Patriots hope they can get that version of him

I think Patriots fans will be surprised in a good way by Fletcher. He is much better than he showed in PHI last year.
People need to relax. Pats have Intel other than just game tape on this guy. They practiced against him for 2 straight years in preseason and have Chung's feedback as well. Besides, all it says at this point is they are giving him a shot in camp in possibly a zone scheme to see how he responds.

Should of never let Moore go kid was a gamer and kept getting better be nice to have him he will get at least 5 mill a season in SF insane.

That is very possible.

Trust in Belichick BUT
This guy was one of the worst cornerbacks in all of football last year. Hate this move for now.

Can he fog a mirror? Sign the beast!

Seriously, though, in 2014 he was coming off ACL surgery. If there is any position where a player will need a full year to get back to where they were before the ACL tear, it's cornerback. Let's give this guy a break and hope he's fully recovered for the 2015 season.

I like that the Patriots are bringing in veteran corners to compete.

So what it sounds like is this (tell me if I am wrong)

He was a decent #2 that while not great was serviceable. Then he was asked to cover #1s and got school badly. If that is the case it is not a terrible signing. I am curious though if he got burned 1 on 1 in man or zone. Maybe his zone skills are better than his man to man skills?

I could actually see him MAYBE being decent if slotted correctly against non-elite opponents.

The problem is that if this is the case who covers elite guys for us?

He led the NFL with 22 pass defensed in 2014 so he can't be that bad.

Misleading... if he was a poor CB being asked to cover the top target of the other team, chances are they were throwing at him A LOT.
