none of does players are even better then Dennard no reason to bring them in

They'd be brought in for their veteran leadership, not their talent in the field. They wouldnt make it past training camp, but they could help the younger guys

"WE'RE ON AN ISLAND OF MISFIT TOYS!!!"

Love out 2 TE offense, think underachieving Vereen can be replaced at low cost and I think they'll strengthen their offense with more quick guys and maybe one who's also a deep threat.

How did Shane Vereen under-achieve??

This year: 96 rushes and 52 receptions.. 2 Rushing TDs, 3 Receiving TDs..
Last year: Playing only in 8 games: 41 Rushes and 44 receptions. 1 Rushing TD, 3 Receiving TDs

Those are the numbers we expected out of him.. Not sure what you expected. Those are numbers better than the 2001 or 2004 Kevin Faulk.

Honestly I think they're just trying to target a veteran CB for training camp to help the young guys along.

Our current CBs have a lot more talent than anything in FA right now, they're all just really young and inexperienced.

Chung is our elder statesman of the secondary, and he just doesn't strike me as a team captain, veteran leadership type guy

No, but McCourty is.. And McCourty was a defensive captain this past year..

Why don't you research the statistics provided by Rotoworld and then draw your own conclusions about a cornerback in decline?

While you're citing Rotoworld, they also had this to say:

Brown had been the one constant of a surprisingly competent Raiders' secondary in 2014, logging 1000 snaps across 14 games. A free agent this offseason, Brown should be able to find a starting job for 2015.

For a "good" corner? You better be getting a GREAT corner for a 2nd + mayo.

Well, first I want Mayo to stay on a restructured deal. I think they team needs him in base defense and could backup Collins in nickle & dime.

However, depending on Mayo's contract and health that would certainly impact what they would fetch in trade.

Told my Rams fan friend that Bradley Fletcher visited the Patriots.

His response: "It's not funny anymore, Bill."

Reiss just tweeted steve israel coming in for a visit tomorrow....

PFF had Fletcher and McClain ranked as two of its absolute worst cornerbacks on the market. The grades deserve a huge grain of salt, but Brown and Newman both graded better overall than Browner over the season. Of course, even if you find them somewhat useful as guidance on how decent a player is, these grades are still both vague in meaning and disguise nuance - Browner was a situational corner who was up and down since he was either a shutdown corner or constantly burned depending on the opponent in question.

If the Super Bowl proved anything it's that you need to have a tall corn or at least as a back up. I don't see that person on the roster. Or a number one corner for that matter.

What are your qualifications for "Tall Corner"? Revis? 5'11. Browner is definitely in the tall category at 6'3-6'4. But Browner is rare in that respect.. Only 4 of the top 40 CB prospects is taller than 6'1. They are :
  • Jalen Collins of Louisiana state at 6'1 4/8. (2nd round grade)
  • Nick Marshall from Auburn at 6'1 4/8 (5th/6th round grade)
  • Ladarius Gunther from Miami at 6'1 4/8 (5th/6th round grade)
  • Julian Wilson out of Oklahoma at 6'2 (UDFA grade)
In fact, I can't find any CB in this years class taller than 6'2 that's in the top 200..

I don't see a "#1" corner on the roster. But how many years did the Pats have number 2s and give them help?

I'll be honest, I think that the lower limit for Butler is to be as good as Asante Samuel in terms of a CB, though Butler has already proven to be more clutch..

They never should have let Browner leave, IMHO. They are going to have to make a trade in order to get a decent corner. There is nothing out there in free agency right now.

They won't be playing press man without Revis, which is Browner game... he can't play zone and you can't play man because you don't have that lock down corner to put on the other teams best guy.

CB Bradley Fletcher, who visited the Patriots on Tuesday, is signing with the team. His agent
@andysimms confirmed when asked.

This is going to be fun ;)

Fletcher has had some good times - and some bad ones. We'll see if our defense and coaching fits him. I assume this will be cheap.

I am actually OK with signing Fletcher. I feel like he may be better than he appears... With better coaching and scheming we could be pleasantly surprised. He's still young, isn't he?

WHAT IN THE F***?!?!?!?!!?!

COME ON

fletcher sucks, eagles fans hate him.
fletcher and chung with dennard. belichick is trolling the league now!:D

As I posted in another thread, in what universe does Bill reside when he believes that Bradley Fletcher
is a better option than Tarell Brown (aka The Best Available CB Remaining)?

CB Bradley Fletcher is signing a one-year deal in New England, per agent
@andysimms.

Just a one year look.

I think Patriots fans will be surprised in a good way by Fletcher. He is much better than he showed in PHI last year.

I watched Fletcher with the Rams. He's a total disaster. Not pleased with this signing.

Former Rams are like second to former Scarlet Knights on Belichick's hierarchy of needs.

How Belichick could ever let Kenny Britt escape is beyond me.
