Offense and Defense were similar in each of the last 3 sb games as far as having the team in position to win at the end, so really the difference is "someone on defense made a play in this game". That's all the pats needed in the other 2 games, was someone on defense to make a play at the end, and it didn't happen.

But I wanted to reference the quote below. Not too much is being made of drawing the Seahawks off sides at the end. I saw lots of peeps celebrating (on youtube, those are great videos) when Butler made that pick, but I wasn't ready to celebrate yet. Brady didn't have any room to kneel so it could have gotten ugly real quick without that penalty. What do you think the Past should have done if no penalty? It looked like they were going to run it or sneak it but that easily could have ended up a safety. It seems it would have been better to have brady roll out to use up some time and then throw it away at least on first & second down, then there would be only a few seconds left, so they could do the sneak or run on 3rd down and in the event of a safety, there would be less chance for Seattle to score.

My take is simple, Brady played other worldly.. consider his 4th quarter stats:

13 out of 15 passes completed(at one time went 8 for 8) against the bestest and baddest D backfield the NFL has ever seen..
125 yards passing, two touchdowns..
Brilliantly drawing the Seahawks offside when pinned against the goal like..

That and our D playing very well..

Malcolm Butler.

'Do Your Job'.

'Don't try to do someone else's job, just DO YOUR JOB.'

The defense could make stops and get off the field. That was the biggest difference between this superbowl and the last one.

Gronk was the real key. Him and brady are irreplaceable and one is the goat at his position, the other if remains healthy for several seasons will be the goat at his. Revis and browner was nice to have, but Gronk is far and away better then BOTH browner and Revis combined. He truly changes games like brady. Not 2 30+ year olds the

revis and browner gave BB a nuff talent to find a way to get off the field that with a offense that scored almost 30 a game some luck and a whole lot of clutch play from the GOAT and you get a SB win

Malcom Butler and coaching...if he doesn't recognize the play, we are still taking shots re: not SB since Spygate.

Simple one...that is obviously NOT simple...on this board it is a lot of pick one thing as to why we are successful....ok, I will play along, the one thing that makes us successful is many things.

...

Impossible question. It wasn't any one thing it was everything together. But if I have to give one answer it would be that teams character.

Now that I think of it that's also the reason I am not concerned about them going forward. There is no one better than Belichick at building teams that are mentally tough and improve over the course of every season, and last season was a textbook example of that. Belichick rallied that team and built them up week by week until they ultimately won it all.

I'm not going to worry about where they are at right now, I will wait and see how they progress from here. It should be fun and interesting. My money if on Belichick, Brady, and the Patriots.

1. Gronk was healthy
2. Edelman is better than Welker and a helluva lot more clutch
3. Malcolm Butler

The defense wasn't real impressive in the Ravens and Seahawks wins. Sure they pulled it together when they had to so Brady could mount comebacks but they gave up a lot of points early in the games.

Biggest difference was one man holding onto the ball (Butler) when two others didn't (Samuel and Welker).

It's always a combination, just like the losses were a combination of faults. It's a team sport. I give a little more credit to the offense, but it's hard to imagine they get it going early or score 2 tds late if the defense doesn't make a series of stops and gets the ball back to Brady on timely fashion.

How the hell you think? We f###### cheated. Yahoo!!!

Brady and the OL was the difference. Brady was much more patient than any other super bowl he's been in--he took what the defense gave him and never wanted to go for the 60 yard home run to Moss or Matthew Slater, which often ended with a fatal INT. The way he dissected the defense with a barrage of underneath passes was a thing of beauty. The surgery was so precise the defense was bleeding and they didn't know why.

Being as healthy as can be goin into Playoffs especially with a healthy Gronk. Obviously additions of Revis & Browner. We have seen Time & Time AGAIN Almost AGAIN but this time M.Butler was our answer to Tyree, Manningham & Kearse's last minute Miracles. Pats

Complete team win. We have lost the Superbowl with a better offense so it's not a coincidence that we win the Superbowl when we upgrade our D, fact holds that offense wins games and defense wins championships.

Pats played great during the comeback and Butler made an all time great play. However if Pete Carroll runs in with Lynch the pats lose another SB in heartbreaking fashion.

Haven't read through the thread but I believe the Pats won by scoring more points than the Seahawks. Just my thought

Butler caught his INT while Asante dropped his
Edelman was more clutch than Welker
