How Have We Improved

Can anyone tell me what this stupid "honk" thing is? Some unfunny clown is driving an unfunny bit into the ground.
I was wondering that myself. It seems to get used in a variety of ways.

For those that believe the Patriots have not done a good job in the personnel department thus far in free agency, let me ask this:

Keeping within the harsh realities of the NFL's salary cap, what do you propose that the team should have done differently thus far?

If for example you suggest that the Patriots should have re-signed Revis, then use the contract he signed and keep your version of the 2015 Patriots cap-compliant.

At that point we can compare any of our versions of what the team should have been with the current one, and debate which roster is better.

Awwww, I made someone sad. Now I'm sad! You were condescending first, you little +&%$#@! baby.

Mayo came back 100% from his last injury, and the Pats did their homework with Easley. The point is that, at this point, the defense is better because Mayo and Easley are slated to return healthy. Your injury/contract game is just guesswork at this point. Once again, I'll trust the organization over message board chuckleheads.
Take a deep breath.

Thats easy. We should have kept all of our player, signed Suh, Bush, Spiller, Maclin, Andre Johnson, Gore, traded for McCoy and all banged supermodels.

So, you're just a troll. Glad we got that straightened out.

The Patriots are one of the most hated teams out there.
The Patriots won the Super Bowl.
The Patriots lost Revis.
The Internet has trolls.

Add them up and I'm guessing we've got more than our fair share of new and returning trolls. Who are they? Well, funny thing is, you're only going to find trolls among the "concerned" fan/chicken little crowd. It's just not fun for a troll to go around saying: Belichick is a genius. I'm sure he has a plan. :)

We have made some smallish moves, but primarily we have thus far we have been cap-conservative and disciplined. In other words, the guys making decisions have made them, based on what their "numbers" are for the guys available.

From a talent standpoint we've lost a lot in the secondary, and unless there is a trade I don't know about in the works or some other genius move... we will look for ways to disguise that weakness elsewhere. We'll miss Vince but I think more emotionally than in terms of talent. He's far from a JAG, but the drop-off to the next guy up is not as precipitous as in Revis' and Browner's cases.

However, for those who want everything every year, I would like to say, The Saints.

Keep Calm, and In Bill We Trust.

you guys dont get it. i never said the sky is falling, in fact i said i didnt think that was the case. .
..but then you go on to say...
this is a passing league now. We have 0 corners.
...hmmm, sounds like sky is falling...
the only option is either trading for someone, but who is available
...sky is ripping wide open...
if we draft a corner, there are 2 problems (1) good corners usually need a year to be decent and
...sky is raining Colts & Ravens & Broncos & even Jets...
(2) does anyone have confidence BB has any clue about drafting a CB?
...sky is raining Bills & Dolphins & Raiders...
and if you do...im laughing at you
...Pats are doomed...

So you've changed from an ugly chicken into a goose?
Or are you just a bill dog-troll?
If this team ever has 0 CBs maybe you can get worried. In the meantime can you not go hide under whatever stone you came from. At this point do I expect the Pats to be favorite to repeat; no. Do I expect them to continue to be competitive ove rthe next 5 years . Yes. Maybe you should go be a 49ers fan and see what self-destruction is really like.

I consider keeping Devin McCourty a significant victory. He's the second best FS in the league behind Earl Thomas.

How much does banging super models count against the cap?

If I've learned one thing about Belichick's teams: Always wait for the final lineup before the seasons starts. And don't count them out. In fact, people oft do the same with his draft selections...not understanding- in minute details -how/why they picked the way they did.

With regard to the 2014 New England Patriots offense, the only notable departure to date has been Shane Vereen.

The only notable unrestricted free agents from the 2014 New England Patriots offense are Connolly and Ridley.

The OP makes a statement based on facts, asks a simple question, yet people on here accuse the guy of "whining." Truth is Miami, Buffalo, and the NYJ have signed some quality players (and haven't lost much that i can see) whilst the Pats have lost a ton and haven't signed anyone that is not currently a JAG based on their prior year's production. Sure, maybe this Jamaal Shared fella will amount to something, but something about him screams SHAWN CRABLE to me:D.
right now this team is going into the season with Arrington, Butler, Logan Ryan, Chimidi Okomngtononbalanhgni at corner....is terrence newman going to make a difference? All signs point back to that horrific defense of the last 5, 6 years prior to this season. Many fans say the Pats will switch to a more pressure-oriented front - is Jabari Shield the answer to the pass rush? Look, Ninkovich is a year older, and Chandler Jones is a shoe in to miss 5-7 games next year....just not too confident right now. I'd say, ok, win with offense and OUTSCORE the other team, but Johnson left with no contract as did Bush League...why no signings? Krafty gotta make more cardboard boxes or something?
So you want the Pats to spend money on players they dont really want? It seems you and all the other whiners just want them to sign a name. The Pats didnt want to overpay for johnson and didnt want to sign Bush (probably because he's unhealthy) but they did just give a truckload of money to McCourty, why dont you stop pining over getting a shiny new toy and ask where have they actually lost a step outside of corner?

There is a reason that it's hard to win back to back SB. It's really hard to improve. Your FA are at a high demand and to resign them you will have to pay more leaving less cap room. Your offensive and/or defensive co-ordinator are targeted for HC elsewhere.

Have we improved, probably not. Are we still a really good football team, I would say yes. We had a top ten defense (Points Against) before Revis and Browner. With them we improved by less then 2 points per game.

Remember when Brady took a decimated defense and a bunch of no name receivers to the AFC championship game?

It's kind of hard to fanthom that for the Pats. 11-5 is a poor year and that 12-4 is just average. A 11-5 record that would have the fans of the other teams in our division dancing in the streets for joy makes some Pat's fans want to jump off the nearest bridge in despair.

We have one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. The offense from last year is mostly intact. The other teams in our divison simply lack the offensive arsenal that we have. We may give up more points this year but I am still confident we can outscore the other teams.

The fear is that with the loss of Revis and Browner, we will return to the days when our secondary made run of the mill QB's look like Hall of Famers.

We managed to sign one of the best FS in the NFL during FA. So between now and September we have to find a replacement for 2 CB, a DT and an OG. We still have FA, draft, trades and other teams cuts when training camp is done.

BB will do what BB has always done, field the best team he can. Which usually turns out to be pretty darn good.
