I think it was saying 2 years $3.9m total, "up to $4m per year" with incentives, which would bring it to a 2 year $8m deal. Sign low, play well and you can double your money.
still coulda just signed Ridley lol.

I missed the whole "per year" part.

I think I need to take a nap.

I'm still fine with the signing because of the Raider's cap space. For pretty much any other team... not so much

Although the defense took a big step back the defense wasn't the reason they lost sb 42&46. It can still be done if the offense plays great but it'd be nice to not go back to that historically horrific 3rd down defense.

I guess you went to the bathroom in the last two minutes of both of those games, you know, after the offense had scored a touchdown to take the lead.

was the defense suppose to give up 13 and 18 pts to win a super bowl? That's asking a lot. Yeah they gave up untimely drives at the end of both but two of the greatest offenses of all time should have been able to put up at least 20 to win both.

The defense was supposed to stop the opponents on one drive (Thanks, Asante!). I mostly blame the offense (largely due to injuries) for 2007, but 2011? Come on. They let the Giants have the ball for 38 minutes, and never held the Giants to less than a 7 play drive (outside of the end of half kneel down), for crying out loud.

still the offense only scored a net total of 15 pts (safety was bs tho...no other qb gets that call).

@clarencehilljr: Dallas has the inside track to sign Greg Hardy. But don't overlook Seattle who might need him to replace Michael Bennett

@clarencehilljr: Per multiple sources, Michael Bennett is seeking a trade to Atlanta and a new contract.

They would never trade him to us, but dang.

17 points, and that's the sort of thing that happens when you only have the ball for 22 minutes. As has been pointed out, in both games, the defense had a chance to win the game with a drive stop at the end (less than 4 minutes left) of the game.

A player demanding a trade to a specific team AND a new contract?

That sounds an awful lot like wishful thinking or Atlanta doing some very serious tampering talking to a player under contract.

Look at the new Atlanta head coach...

How does that happen?

Wow. Seattle made the BIG SPLASH with Jimmy graham, but look closer at that team and you'll see problems. one of the top 2 centers in the league is gone, Superbowl MVP linebacker is gone, corner replaced but could easily be a downgrade depending on chemistry. 3 other star d-backs undergoing surgery or off-season issues, QB yet to sign his extension, RB drama with Lynch...

Bennett might be the best player on that DL. If he's grumbling, they've got problems, especially afte rthe way they lost the SB.

Lol it's okay I almost missed it too, I had to read it twice. With the money the Raiders have they can afford to make little moves like this one.

@RapSheet reports Seahawks are interested in veteran C Dan Connolly, who played last season with Patriots.

That's fine Scar is currently deciding on the future LG for BB to take in the draft.

DT Randy Starks is signing a 2-year deal with the #Browns worth roughly $8M, source said.

I would have liked to see him in New England, as we could use a big guy who can shed and rush effectively on early down play action. Seems like the right price to me, but perhaps the Pats were still expecting Vince.

In all of this I find not picking up Browners 2 mil option the most perplexing move.

I'm not a fan of that move. It seems to me that he could be effective in press and shallow zone coverage, and $4.8M per for someone who can match-up with big receivers is reasonable. That's not much more than Arrington's cap hit, but cutting him wouldn't offer cap savings. I guess Bill is going to go back to variations off of quarters coverage. He's got several guys who already know the scheme and tackle well, and some of them even have some ball skills. I would have preferred we kept Browner, and Dennard and Butler were given a chance to compete for time across from Browner when man coverage was featured.

The idea of Greg Hardy finding a place in this league, let alone anywhere outside of a jail cell disgusts me.

The man should be in jail for a long, long time. Body-slamming your girlfriend over a glass table?

He was convicted/found guilty, appealed said conviction, and eventually settled with the victim. He was not found innocent in a court of law, he simply circumnavigated jail time via his money. As far as anyone can tell, what he was claimed to have done did indeed occur. It's a crying shame that people viewed the settlement as an indication of innocence. Our justice system failed us in this particular case.

I'm incredibly happy that New England is nowhere near this guy. If they signed him, I'd struggle to support the team during his (hypothetical) tenure here.

Shame on Seattle, shame on Dallas.

Damn does bill plan on putting 53 players on the field next season, there's nobody left in free agency.

I hope this doesn't make your head explode.. Facts are tricky.. You never know how people like you will re-act.. But here goes.. The Pats have 71 people signed or tendered. They need 8 spots for draftees.. That leaves 11 spots. Those can go to UDFA, UFA or Post-June 1st cuts. Kinda blows up the whole "does bill plan on putting 53 players on the field" over-reaction..

Furthermore, there are still over 200 UFAs currently.. Including such players as Anthony Spencer, Ahtyba Rubin, Red Bryant, Chris Canty, Stephen Wisniewski, Justin Blalock, Javier Arenas, Terence Newman, Charles Tillman, Pierre Thomas, Stevan Ridley, etc, etc..

Too bad it's a weak draft class, and if a team is relying on 8 rookies to have significant impacts that's a disaster waiting to happen. I'm not panicking or anything just been an odd start to free agency. I know it's how they operate just don't see how the team is going to improve with the number of key losses and nobody really left to fill or help fill those roles.

Like every draft class it's weak in some areas and strong in others. The people who are talking regularly about the draft seem to disagree with your over-all assessment of it..
