How Have We Improved

Can't wait for the game this weekend! Gotta go load up on brewsssss

UMMMMM NOOOOO. i just want to know how we are going to come close to replacing him

"We have zero corners!!!"

Guess what? We're not going to come close to replacing him. Period. He's one of the best ever.

He doesn't have to be replaced. As I said, the Pats are still in a better position than most of last year's playoff trams. A HOF corner guarantees nothing.

if you are content with having a similar defense to what we had prior to Talib, i respect your opinion

From 2005-2013 we had the worst 3rd down defense i have ever seen. The most frustrating football I have had to watch. [/QUOTE]

If that is the most frustrated you have had to watch as Patriots fan then consider yourself damn lucky. I don't know if you are aware of some former Pats defenses prior to the arrival of Bledsoe and Parcells.:(

in my opinion i am. no need to make comments other than that ;)
For such a smart guy you seem to have trouble grasping how an NFL team is built, particularity the Pats who have done business pretty much the same way since BB came here.

So either you are not really very bright or just trolling.

ok...read what i wrote in full and comment on it in full context.

did i say anything about Points Allowed by the Defense? I know I commented that we won also. so if you are going to try and take a dig, present all the facts of what i wrote
Oh, we get it. Actual points don't matter. Your stress level is the important thing.

How was the Pats D ranked the years before Revis?

15 year olds actually get stressed? Who knew?

How could you at this point know the defense will be similar to pre Talib? Let it play out and see what the Pats Brain Trust comes up with., they are pretty good at putting teams together

Did I miss Sheard getting unsigned or something? Easley not healthy? Mayo not coming back? An incredibly young D doesn't improve with experience?

It's +&%$#@! insane around here. The logic is that, because Revis left, it's over.

Is the secondary worse without Revis? Yup. Is the D still good enough to win a title? Most likely.

Guess what? A HOF CB ISN'T NECESSARY TO WIN A RING.

I like how turning 38 six months from now is "almost 40."

Good God. Just won the SB and the pearlclutching is as bad as ever.
Apparently you are privvy to information that others are not?

Glad you know for a fact that Easley will be healthy and Mayo will be back.

If you had to pick one area where Bill is almost beyond reproach, what would it be? You'd likely choose assessing the players on his roster, right? How likely is it that Bill would unnecessarily extend Chung early if he knew Pat would turn back into a pumpkin if Revis left?

I don't care what your PERCEPTION was about what happened on 3rd down. I would rather have you hate the 3rd down defense and allow less points and win than have you love it and allow more points and lose.
You must be one of those guys that considers Rex Ryan's defenses great when they put up good yardage stats, brag about being tough but never take the ball away, allow more points and lose.

Are you seriously telling me that winning isn't important but winning with a style you approve of is?

ok. for all of you people who parse what i wrote:

When you have a QB like Brady. Over larger sample sizes you will score more POINTS PER DRIVE than another team. Over smaller sample sizes there is less predictability. therefore, the goal would be to maximize the number of possessions your QB has. Mathematically, this will enable you to take advantage of your advantage on offense.

When we play soft shell (like 05-12), inside the 20s we are not giving the other team yardage but we are backing off. this in turn creates more 3rd down conversions by the offense. inside the 20s we buckle down. and BB and our Defensive Coaches are the best in the business at this. That is all fine and dandy. BUT, the biggest thing is that it keeps our QB off the field and limits the amount of possessions per game. this puts more pressure on the offense to score more efficiently than maybe we need to be because we are limiting sample size, and further away from the mean.

in the past, becuase Brady is so good, we were able to overcome it. maybe he still can. but hes 38 now. at some point its gonna be a problem
