Stevie Johnson likely to sign with Pats [3/17 update: signs w/ San Diego]

Considering that WR is arguably the least important position of need on this team, at this point in time, it's not that disappointing.

If we really need a shiny new toy at WR3, there's still Bowe, Crabtree or Jennings out there for hire.

Nothing spectacular, but it's a 3rd depth WR, they're not going to be.

We need to solve the RB/3rd down back before we sole any WR issues..if we have any ATM

One position i am not worried about..WR. RB on the other hand we need a 3rd down guy

Sometimes the Patriots frugal ways are frustrating to us fans..but losing out on Stevie Johnson isn't one of those times.

Pats probably wanted him on 1-2 year prove it deal, he didn't take it. Move on to the next guy.

Thank god. There is still such a thing as rational behavior.

Nothing frugal about not overpaying for a player who has been a #3 or #4WR for two straight years. Its called good business.

I think we can change the name of this thread now. This REALLY pissed me off for some reason, maybe because that douchebag NBCdiana was so certain Johnson was "most likely to sign with the Patriots", I finally had something to feel good about. Finally something positive in this ****ty offseason, and just like everything else, it was taken away by some other team. This really ****ing sucks. I really thought Johnson would make this offense unstoppable. Also would have given us a BIG target, and also injury insurance for our injury prone receivers.

I don't blame Johnson, but douchebags like NBCdiana and PatriotsSB49 (or 50, whatever the **** he's called) need to stop teasing us with BAD info. The next time either of these 2 morons are right about anything will be the first time. I have a deep seated hatred for those 2, I HATE nonsense like what they tweet, and they are part of what makes twitter bad. False info teasing fan bases. Despicable people.

She's been pretty much spot on with everything...

as I said. there is still Gregg Jennings, Crabtree, Dwayne bowe, reggie wayne, denarious Moore available...

Worth repeating.
Not that it will do any good because fans here will cite the one "prediction" they made that turned out right while forgetting their dozens of ludicrous tweets.

Relax...signing Johnson is not going to be the difference between winning and losing a SB next year. Personally I'd rather have Greg Jennings anyways...not sure how much he has left in the tank though.

Oh no now we'll just look to the Draft for another Josh Boyce project.

I would rather have Dobson develop, draft a stud, or make a trade for a player coming off a down year on a rookie contract.

he really didn't have anyone throwing to him in Minnesota though.

You're taking football, a sport you watch on the television that ultimately has no material bearing on your life, a little too seriously.

Man if we weren't coming off being champions this off season I'd be really in the dumps. Not a good offseason so far. It's more of the constant disappointment after disappointments and bad report after bad report. Is any news source credible anymore? ?

On offense our biggest needs are 3rd down back and guard. Not sure where stevie johnson could have helped in that. Imo getting pierre thomas > stevie jhnson.

I agree..but many think white is the guy or bolden...no thank you

San Diego is a good landing spot for him.

Now can we stop obsessing over WRs? Someone show this thread to Brandon LaFell. He had a good year for it being his first in our system and being the #3 receiving option to boot.

I think everyone would but the issue is the Pats can't draft/develop WR's to save their life...2014 was probably the most stacked WR draft ever and we waited till the last round to select that midget from Michigan that's not on the team anymore...

Name one thing ? Yesterday was a grand slam for her, Johnson signing with us, and Wilfork leaving Texas without a contract. I have yet to see her be right about anything. Same goes for that other moron and tease PatriotsSB49 (50).

I'm surprised how confident you guys sounds about our current WRs. The three starters consist of two injury prone slot WRs and a WR who is the epitome of mediocre. Is it the team's current biggest need? No, but obviously with the losses on defense the offense is gonna have to kick into gear at a much more consistent level this season. I'm not one to keep shrugging off offensive players we've whiffed on. If Gronk misses any time it's gonna get ugly real fast.
